The reason for that was because of Colin trevorrow and his writers who made the t rex look bad mostly the writers, but with Gareth Edwards directing the next movie and the original jurassic park writer returning all that will change.

At 1:28 the raptors have the humans surrounded. If they'd have just immediately rushed in, the humans would be dead. But instead, they delayed 12 seconds giving the T-Rex time to appear and intercept them. It all reminds me of the old Bat-Man TV show where the Penguin, Riddler or Joker would catch Bat-Man and Robin and instead of immediately killing them, place them in a time delayed killing device, giving them time to escape. If they'd have just killed them immediately...
