2012’s Allah-Las is a masterpiece.

I agree. I love them, but lately they just sound like a generic indie band. That 2012 album hit the sweet spot with the 60s surf sound and just feels way more consistent
@thebohemianblues8 ай бұрын
@@mitchellpilgrim3735 Nah, that album was great but also a bit 60s pastiche. With every album they've evolved as musicians and songwriters and you can hear them exploring different influences which shows they aren't a one trick pony. However I personally haven't gotten into their most recent album quite as much as the ones before.

Generic Indie Band? Imagine creating the same influence and sound over and over again, yeah that's "generic" friend. @@mitchellpilgrim3735

yeah its a good album but they have alot more albums that are great

@@thebohemianbluesI am more of a fan of their Worship the Sun, 2014 era. Of course enjoy their most famous 2012 self-titled era as well but haven’t gotten that into their releases since Calico Review as much.

The closing song here is really magical in my humble opinion. Thankyou KEXP for once again helping listeners like myself to discover great new music.😊

They sound a bit like Television, The Velvet Underground and Luna which is huge praise, the closing track Jelly sounds a bit like Sweet Jane by The Velvet Underground again huge praise fantastic sound recording 😊

I read that Miles said in a concert that "The Fall" was about themselves. With that perspective, the song hit me hard. Such beautiful, poetic, sad lyrics. A great dark song. Guys, if there is such thing as a fall, it was worth it. You are not small, you are huge. Viva Miles y vivan los Allah-Las.

The Allah Las are a rad band but I can't get over paying money to see them live in Vancouver many years back. They showed up and the band was super late and so fucked up they couldn't play more than a song. Good thing Mapache was opening...💀
