This is a remarkable talent. I have been listening to the greats that played with the mid years of the Steve Coleman Five Elements Groups. Since Smitty Smith, Gene Lake, Sean Rickman . . . I've been searching for more. Here he is . . . Gergo Borlai. Oh . . . my . . . gosh. You just blew me away.

Your chops are undeniable...and this is some truly great playing. Yet, the drum part seems very planned and composed. This is not a bad thing, it just doesn't have the usual spontaneity that you expect from an Allan Holdsworth tune. Interesting to hear your approach to such an incredible piece of music. Really great work.

@minkusink6 Correct. There is a big difference from a rehearsal room to playing for an artist like Holdsworth who has played with some of the greatest drummers on the planet. You would never see Colauita, Wackerman or Husband overplay to this degree.
@jamesbryce51877 жыл бұрын
Villaboy I'm hoping he overplayed because it was a a drumless track to "workout" to. I doubt very much he would play that way in a live tryout for Allan Holdsworth. Don't we all get off on these drumless tracks when we shed? It's not necessarily about being musically tasteful as this jam demonstrated.

Hahahhaha uh you ever listened to the Secrets record or bootleg concert recordings from the late 80s of Vinnie with Allan?

right on man! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Ya know how the tube is though, can't really say anything because people get butthurt easily. Now, could you hook me up with a job? haha.

Although what you're saying is absolutely true, you gotta give this guy props for attacking this this song and actually executing it rhythmically well! I think it sounds pretty darn good. Is he Husband or Wackerman?..no, but he does an excellent interpretation of a song that no one else seems to be willing to try. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone on earth that execuates Atavachron as well as Gary Husband...just my 4 months late 2 cents.

For all those making assumptions about my level and skill no need to worry about me. Yes I do watch a little youtube but in a $1.5 million dollar house which my family live in from twenty five years of playing and performing so thank you very much for your concern. Please re read the part where I wrote "I am a Gergo fan". I actually like him very much .I just said that in this case,for those who actually know the tune, he overplayed. Just my opinion. I still admire him.

First of all I am a gergo fan but on this occasion I can safely say that this is way too busy. Gary Husband on the original is far more musical and I think if you played this way live with Allan Holdsworth he would be saying "NEXT" very quickly. Sorry Gergo.

I was not impressed with the masturbation demonstrated here. Not a fan but glad the drumless track is available. Who does he play for again?
