That whole section from the beginning swells to that last held chord, is my favorite piece of music of all time. I know he wrote the whole song about the death of his father, but that section just pours emotion and solemnity. Its beautifully sad.

Also, have incorporated the Magicstomp volume pedal route during Church worship. So fitting for prayer. And of course the Duncan '59 is key to getting Allan's clean sound. peace brother
@erictripton Жыл бұрын
UPDATE: Recently put away the Magicstomp. Using Roland Digital Delays, all SDE type... boy what a huge difference! I am not one to shear off the top end of any delay, analog delays just dont do it for me. Sound muffled. Anyhoo, I use 1 Roland for Short delay 35ms with heavy modulation for chorusing type sound, then I use 4 Rolands all basically set like a patch off the UD Stomp. These 4 are set for the Longer delays in Allan's patches. I then do the Steve Morse trick of fading in each Short or Long delays via 2 volume pedals. Its a Wet Dry setup with two cabinets. So basically fading in delays to accompany the Dry cab sound which has NO delays through it. Huge, crystal clear fills the room. I A/B'd it with the Magicstomp and it was just no contest. The old heavy analog Digital Delays sound way better! See my channel if you havent already Alnicoily to see the various demos.. Bad news is the rack case is a boat anchor... heavy as hell!!! But worth it since it sounds so good. Here is a Short vid I did kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHencqCCqpmjf80 You can hear the Allan Long delay flavor with the 4 delays.... glad I invested in old school rig 🤣😂😂😂

Creative geniuses are all too often only fully appreciated by a wider number of people after they're gone. I saw allan play in 1980 with IOU in London pub that was barely full. My friends & i were completely baffled as to how such phenomenal ground breaking musician, guitarist & composer, couldn't find anyone to release the IOU album & they practically had to pay to play, as per the band name of course. Thank you Allan for 42 yrs of pleasure, delight & inspiration. Well done for uploading this excellent. And well done for not adding in a drum solo 😀 Something with which i had a polite disagreement with gary husband when i made mentioned on his FB page i didn't think there's a place for drum solos in strong compositions

Hey m8, wanted to check in with you. Got round to obtaining the Holdsworth J Rockett. On it's own through a clean isn't optimal, as you said... sounds superior when driving a distorted channel. However, when using it through a clean amp, it does have a nice sustaining sound, which has it's place to be honest; more subtle type lead sound. I'm glad I got it. Thanks for the help. Eric

@@Alnicoily I will run it and the JHS AT @ (Angry Charlie) for more Marshall type gain, though I still use the gain channels of my amps. The boost of the J Rockett is not like any other pedal out there.... clear as a bell.

A year later, I have acquired a Germino; old Marshall JMP clone, and discovered this pedal is the BEST on my board, very clear and perfect. I almost sold it, but now guard it like a hawk. Using the JMP circuit gets me the 70's era lead sound of Allans, right on the money! The solo on this is just the amp, cranked using load box, Duncan 59 bridge. A little hard rock sound, but my goodness the 'vowels' are there. Enjoy, brother kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIW3ppVnm7Rpfas

That's why the album was called Metal Fatigue I suppose! Allan could play faster than any of 'em, but with purpose, with a beautiful song in his ear. So many songs of the day got lost in all the notes... each of Allan's notes have purpose. I am high on LSD but this is my take, RIP Allan, cheers

Alnicoily, hi m8. Getting close to acquiring the Holdsworth Rockett pedal. In your opinion, could I pop this pedal on in front of a clean sound and have the solo tone? I hope, the gain channels in my amps are hot... EVH, Soldano. I use the EVH EL34 clean channel the most, so if I run it in front, do you reckon I would get good results? Thanks for your help, Eric
@Alnicoily6 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, It would be difficult to create a solo tone with this pedal alone. This pedal is recommended for use on the lead (or crunch) channel. When I used this pedal for a clean amp, I felt it was was rough and low density.
@erictripton Жыл бұрын
@@Alnicoily UPDATE; using with my Plexi Germino, the amp breaks up a bit, then I use the OD and sometimes the boost on top...what a beautiful overdrive. Very different from ANYHTING else I use. @Alnicoily6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching my video.┏○ I connected DG Stomp and Magic Stomp to Audio Interface. sorry... I forgot the detailed setting.
To differ from all other comments here, the solo part later on is great, however, as one can see/hear clearly you miss out on the chords. You drag the strings too much on the side, just to get a grip of the strings at certain frets which makes the notes go sharp, and thus, sounding out of tune...really badly at some places. Turn off the effects, especially chorus, or modulation, and take a good listen. Thou shalt not, bend strings in order to be able to grab all these difficult chords. The strings should be as straight as you wouldn't fret them. Check for yourself in a tuner, each note within a chord. This is a habit I see all to often with youngsters trying to play something that's above their present skill. Playing something too hard too soon in their development. You're not alone. You bend adjacent strings just so they won't "buzz" or touch the next finger fretting. Bad conduct. You bend the string out of tune.

henkehakansson2004 Thank you for advice┏○
@henkehakansson200410 жыл бұрын
Alnicoily You should concentrate on getting the guitar higher up angle, so you can press certain chords "straight on" from the above. Or watch and be vigilant in front of a mirror. Not to diss yo that much, because you're in good company. Many famous artists does this error too. They don't detect it, because they've done so from the start on. Due to a number of things a) too narrow space on the guitar neck b) too low frets, forcing you to "drag" the string sideways b) to low slung, if seated in a more classical guitar oriented way, you will automatically fret the strings from "above" and not drag them sideways. Especiall, Holdsworth chords are not the easiest ones around (understatement) so it's little wonder anybody has problems with them. Remember, the lighter the strings you've got, the easier is it to pull and bend them UNDELIBERATELY out of tune. Check with a Polytuner, so you can check a whole chord at once, for example. I've even seen bass players do this error, which dumbfounds me. Thick strings, and wide necks, lots of space between the strings, and rarely ever playing chords, nevertheless, they seem to press too hard and undeliberately bend the strings. And they don't hear it. FWIW: I used to do this error too! Changing a guitar to a wider neck one, solved MY problem.
