I can’t help picturing how cool a large mural/wallpaper would look on the bare wall in your closet room. You could go with any pattern or color you want, literally. So much to choose from.

That was so nice of Meryl to say bye at the end of the video. The side tables are stunning. After I became permanently disabled I had such a difficult time with getting ready & leaving the house. I was so much slower in every way that I was considerably late every time I had to shower. It took me more years than I would like to admit to get used to the timing & how long it would take me to get ready. If I can get better at that, everyone can.

Hey Lan! So excited for you with the house updates. I've never been so stoked to see a closet door reveal. In terms of Retin-A; if you find the flaking and sensitivity too much, you could always try Bio-Retinol or Bakuchiol instead. They're plant-based "retinol's" that have very similar effects to retinol, but without all the sensitivity. The brand Three Ships makes a real nice serum and night cream of this nature, plus they're Canadian and female-owned 💁‍♀Also, the Canadian brand Graydon has their Fullmoon serum, containing Bakuchiol. Just some options for you! 🦋

Quick Retin-A Tips: Dermatologists don't recommend spot treating with Retin-A. But if the area around your mouth and eyes is sensitive you can avoid them OR put down a buffer first. You can put a thick moisturizer down, wait for it to dry, and then apply your Retin-A everywhere. Always apply Retin-A on a dry surface for less irritation. You can use Retin-A around your eyes if you tolerate it.

oh my god the closet is going to look SO GOOD, cannot wait to see it done! As someone who's also been renovating my house a lot, it can be so tough to look on something you've done / decided on and then go "no that was a mistake" and then actually decide to do something about it instead of sucking it up and living with it... when it's something you use every day it makes such a difference to have it be functional, even if you have to live with the costs of fixing it! I have a walk-in closet where I had to swap out the lights and it was such a hassle and I felt so bad but... now it's perfect and I love it!

I’ve had so many people say the same things about their closets from California closets! My fiancé and I decided to go with Canadian Closet Shop (located in Burnaby) but travelled to Langley for us to do a free quote with measurements etc. They were SO good, so efficient and listened to our wants/needs. But also with telling us when a design won’t work well with our space. HIGHLY recommend them! They are so so inexpensive as well which was a total bonus… like, thousands cheaper then the quotes from California Closets.

I too experienced dryness in the eyes area even when I don’t put my tretinoin cream near there. I have naturally acne prone oily skin, but since being on trenoin, my skin has been extremely dry. I am not doctor but in my personal experience what has helped with my overall dryness due to trenoin use has been doing the sandwich method: Moisturize before and after applying trenoin. I lather moisturizer in the eyes area before applying trenoin on my chics, forehead and chin, and all lather moisturizer over after, and I (again personally) have gotten the same results-remaining acne free. Also, born and raise in Caribbean, but would not change my current leaving state where I have all four season. I find it beautiful and a privilege to be able to experience the changes of the seasons 😊

Hi Allana! 💖About the peeling in places where you don't apply your retinoid; I've just recently learned that retinoids are cell communicative which means they affect the areas "around" where you actually apply it, if that makes sense. So even though you're not putting the product specifically around your eyes, it still has some effect there. AND since the product you're using is a pretty strong one, I guess that's also why you get flaky there in spite of avoiding the areas... Hope that was helpful at all! 🥰

History and significance to brands or places or items is always of interest to me too, I’m also an Apple watch girl but I have a Tudor watch that was given to me by my parents. It was kind of a cool story, my dad stumbled on a bracelet on the ground that turned out to be solid gold. He gave it to my mom, but it kept falling off, so they sold it and used the money to purchase this Tudor watch (like the second class brand of Rolex). My dad had a Rolex he bought himself for graduating from professional school, and my mom had this Tudor, but they ‘upgraded’ her watch to a true Rolex and gave the Tudor to my grandmother, who wore it until she was in her 90s and wasn’t moving enough to self-wind it. It turned out to be serendipitous because they had 2 womens watches, and 1 mens watch. And I’m one of three siblings, 2 girls and 1 boy. So I was given the Tudor, I was very close to my grandmother and so it having been worn by both my mom and my grandmother makes it extra special. My siblings will each receive one of the Rolex watches one day when my parents are ready to let them go. I love my Apple watch but having my little Tudor watch with all its history on hand for dressing up or when I want to be more formal is so nice, and it’s made all the richer for having that history. A good watch is forever, and so many have incredible stories behind them. Sorry to leave such a long comment but the TL;DR is: buy a nice watch, create some history, so your kids can have cool watches. It’s truly my most prized possession.

I moved to Southwest Florida 20 years ago (from Ohio). If it makes you feel any better, most of us full time residents loathe Summer. Particularly, August & September. It’s hotter than the fire of a thousand suns & the humidity is vile. Some of the afternoon storms can be v scary. My county (Lee/Ft. Myers, FL) was the most devastated this past summer by Hurricane Ian. The thought of cool/“cold” winter weather is what we look forward to all summer but we literally only got a handful of cold days/nights this winter. It is definitely beautiful here.🌴☀️I will say the regular warmth & sunshine help my physical health (autoimmune disease) & my mental health. I don’t think my body could tolerate genuine Northern winters again. 😂 Every place has their seasonal downsides. 🤷🏼‍♀️

With the running late thing, CAN RELATE in a big way. The way I was able to (mostly) kick it is... when thinking about when I need to leave to get somewhere on time, I figure out when I think I should leave, and then add 10 minutes (earlier). In the same vein, when someone invites me out for a last-minute thing, I add 10-15 minutes to how long I think I need to get ready and get there. It's made a big difference.

Hi Allana ! I hope you see this comment! I’m a licensed esthetician & i have some retinol tips/explanation - you’re peeling on your eyes because of a few reasons possibly! 1. When you’re applying your retinol the residual might still be on your fingers after you’ve applied it to you face & you’re getting it on your eye area when you apply eye cream/ other products. I always recommend washing your hands after you apply retinol so that it doesn’t happen. 2. Could be because the way it enters your blood stream, you might just be sensitive to it so you’re peeling everywhere! - it is completely safe AND recommended to gently exfoliate while using retinol. My favorite methods are; enzymes (they work topically to eat away at surface level dead skin) or a gentle buffing cloth to remove dry skin. Moisturizing is key (you already knew that) but oils or even a bit of aquaphor at night helps incredibly. My favorite moisturizer to recommend to clients during their retinol experience is the Epidermal Repair cream from Skinceuticals. I hope this helps & if you’re ever in San Francisco I’d love to give you a hydrafacial & an amazing spa experiences. Xoxo ❤
