The 2nd half issue has been coming along for the last few years, and was probably unnoticed. Just think about Bledisloe in Melbourne, the Draw against England, RWC final.. All games where we had a lead and struggled to close the game off. Razor has a tough job of fixing these issues, that stemmed long before he started. One step at a time as we are off to great starts now and holding off Australia in the last 10 should give us some confidence. As we failed against South Africa. We are definitely getting better.

Yip, but they are in denial blaming coaches when NZRU should look at themselves. Sure, coaches contribute because they have a philosophy of winning at all cost, but nobody is courageous enough to acknowledge and address the constant downward trend since 2015 that is indicative of major systemic issues. For a small players base and foundation, and competing sports such as soccer, NRL and basketball, rugby union in tiny NZ is in trouble. A win against the Wallabies will unfortunately now feed that complacency and the egos of administration. But eh, blame is always out there, isn't it, never under the nose?

We stop playing, we try 'close the game'. I don’t think any of these top ranked teams are too far off each other. Saying that, when a team can’t produce in the latter parts of the game, it often comes down to the Conditioning Coaches and other Coaching staff. At the moment the AB’s just don’t have it in the Tank. Saturday’s game against Australia proved it beyond doubt.
@DilmahkanaАй бұрын
I think that in the first half we are primarily capatilising on opponents' mistakes and their lack of possession (not us playing particularly well, them well playing average or messily). And in the second half, opponents' mistakes are reduced and the opponents have more possession than the first half (and create more pressure). Happen against SA and Arg and Aus games.

I've been an All Blacks supporter since 2003, and honestly, this is the worst performance I've seen from my ABs. I've seen us lose several matches, but this was as ugly as it gets and still feels like a test we lost. I’m glad we chose the Wallabies to showcase such a horrible performance because had it been the Boks, they would have put 50 points on us. Once again, no points in the last quarter and a yellow card in the final 10 minutes. Aren't they playing for the ABs? There used to be so much pride in wearing that jersey, but it doesn't feel like that anymore. Come on, guys... I flew from Brisbane to Sydney just to watch this match. You should do better 😟

Every SA documentary, interview and talking point of out of that camp oozes 'team first'. They have bought into the end result and not the who is getting them there. Wither their bomb squad or the guys who start, it just seems like they have collectively put the team priority one, two and three. When you listen to these NZ analysts, they are almost afraid to say the words.... 'come off the bench'.... as if it is the curse or it comes with a certain negative connotation...? Its either the ABs dont have the horses or their once invincible 'run the opponent to death' doesn't work cause the better teams have that deep bench that come in that 60th minute .... so.... their game plan simply needs to change. All that, I am still 100 behind the ABs, until they play my humble Island Kingdom..... Ts up...!!

The primary reasons for NZ being a mess in the last 20 minutes is twofold . One is an old problem of shooting themselves in the foot with yellow card indiscipline. It puts the team under so much pressure not just with the opposing team that gets a boost but also the referee ! The other reason is the bench players being ineffective . But as they are firefighting when they come on, due to the yellow cards it’s not surprising they struggle with the added pressure!

These are obviously nice people who know about the technical aspects of rugby but someone please introduce them to the basic maths of markets. The salary cap, if complied with, of French teams is euro8.5m and additional payments come from central authorities. The Irish teams are not far off that. The money, better coaching, better S&C are all in the Northern Hemisphere. NZ and Aus teams need to align the season to the Nothern Hemisphere and select their OS players and be smart about OS options. E.g. allow players to play in France and pay 25% of their salary to have access to them for e.g. 8 games. NZ bench is weak because Richie, Brodie and others are OS and not selected. They will not be as good as teams that select OS players or teams that pay the most to domestic players like France and Ireland. Pretty simple stuff. These guys just parrot off the same thing every weak.
@mierypesado6740Ай бұрын
But the counterpoint, how do you prevent the complete cratering of domestic NZ rugby once every single half decent provincial player heads to the North at 20 years old? Which over time will trickle down to a diminishing age-grade participation (already seeing it) and hurt the ABs

If gainline success is low, that is the forwards... not the 10. Barrett is not a threat at 10 anymore, hes predictable with kicks and won't back himself to run the hole.

It's the Steve Hansen effect. Too many "Superstars" shoe-horned into the team at the expense of cohesion & performance. Started with Shag's obsession with SBW & Beauden Barrett. He just had to have them in & the losses started to accumulate. When we were nigh invincible, only Ben Smith was played out of position (wing instead of fullback at the Highlanders). Now (for a long time), we have Ardie who spent the formative years of his professional career at 7 playing 8 (no knock on Ardie, he's the man, but not an 8), locks at 6, 6's at lock & just about the entire backline is a mess. Jordie was a fantastic 12 at Junior level, but spent so long at fullback, he's lost his instincts now he's back at 12. The (potentially, could have been our best winger ever) world's best winger who has absolutely no natural/historical instincts for the position, at centre (Reiko). Not to mention Beauden's ego ruining Mo'unga & now cramping McKenzie. Beauden is a shell of himself due to all his head-knocks (not a knock on previous performances, guy was awesome but time is done). And then the passengers, Tu'ungafasi should count himself lucky to be a reserve for Northland…not for the AB's, guy is hopeless…plus a few others…rant over...

The NZ rugby championship, played 5 won 2, I agree Isaac Boss the Aussies were dreadful in the first half and they still could have won the game. All blacks were dreadful only a shadow of their former selves like the panel they are all over the place, blame the coach that didn’t work did it, the decline has been there for everyone to see, get back to basics, Rugby is a simple game we need a strong All Blacks team it’s a hard watch in recent years.

Taylor's spot on we need to be more physical we've lost our fear factor too much respect for other teams eg south africa we need to start bashing them and getting our respect back there soft like Charmin anyway 😂

This All Black squad has a complete lack of leadership, effective game plan, discipline, Rugby IQ , fortitude, perseverance etc , all things that were once taught in our schools but now rarely even mentioned. The low rugby IQ quotas seem to be at the same level as our low ( we are now at the level of Cyprus ) education level. Also Football and Basketball have much higher levels of participation than rugby. We all know why but no one talks about it.
@AngusRobertАй бұрын
I don’t know why, can you elaborate?
@Nat-oj2ucАй бұрын
Why?
@tayltv01Ай бұрын
All Blacks were dominant, and are no longer. We used to kick for line outs every single time, and we no longer do. We have no faith in our forwards. It started when Super Rugby excluded SA teams. The players don’t understand the greater game anymore. They understand the local game and Australia, but that’s it. It’s only going to get worse.

Bs. The all blacks have always chosen 3 on offer

Codie Taylor should be made captian. The following players are dead-wood, are not performing and need to be dropped to make way for other hungrier and/or younger players: TJ Perenara, Damian McKenzie, Anton Lienert-Brown, Reiko Ioane, Seevu Reece and the wildly over-rated Beauden Barrett. Caleb Clarke should be moved to inside centre cos he can bust through tackles. A Caleb Clarke and Billy Proctor centre-pairing would be very effective.

DMAC is a bench player. Bring him on with 20 min to go. Start BB at 10, Clark at 13, Reiko 11
@Mysterx1440Ай бұрын
Yeh Clark at 13 because of all the experience he has playing in that hardest backline position 😂
