We also got him in the wild but he was like 6 weeks and a male orange cat was actually looking after him when they came to my back porch. They came every night,then we lured him in and kept him in a week and he was an indoor/ outdoor from that time and the orange cat would come see him every so often the first couple of months but eventually stopped coming around.That was 13 years ago and we are so blessed to have him. He has been a great comfort to my son especially when we lost my husband,his father to cancer 7 years ago.

I have been adopted by a bobtail cat that spent much of last year especially at breakfast time an dinner in my back yard. He always hung with his little 6 pound buddy, a traditional looking yellow cat. I didn't realize exactly what he was at first but he definitely is all bobtail in build an his strange personality! He is almost to smart an a real handful! The most loving, loyal, sweet dogcat you could possibly want. Since early this year he an his little sister have been fixed, recieved other needed care an stay in the house 100% of the time. My big boy does follow you around the house all the time, talks non stop, licks you but he has no desire for soft furniture or a bed or your lap.He fetches an returns, comes when called, an when hes naughty saying his name sternly, he knows hes busted an knocks it off!

My dark gray with black stripes tabby now almost 15 years old, the smartest dog cat I've ever had. I can call him with a loud trill, he runs full speed, leaping over 3 and 4 foot high bushes, all the way home. Then he makes his short trill answer. He has single handedly eliminated the Vole population in the neighborhood.

We have three siblings. All very different personalities, but are like dogs that love to play, one will fetch toy and bring back to you. The boy makes alot of different noises. He cracks everyone up with his cattatude.

I am so lucky to have my girl bobtail. I have been around cats most of my life but have never encountered one this amazing until her. She is incredibly smart as well as emotionally intelligent. She knows I am her human. She acts so much like a woman that she let's me know when she is upset with me like she is my girlfriend. An Incredible little fur ball lol

I work at a convenient store and there's a litter of two orange and one tabby striped bobs, the tabby and one of the orange ones didn't make it and finally after about a week I caught "stubbs" and brought him home which was a great decision for my babies

I love my baby! His name is Felix! I have had him for 3 years someone abandoned 😔him at an apartment complex that my now hubby lived in. He knew he belonged there and stayed around the community for a few years until I came along and made friends with him! He was already neutered which helped alot since males spray. We now own a 1850ft home for 2years and he has adjusted VERY WELL, even tho he has been an outside cat for 4years not to mention HOMELESS

Just got a kitten who turned out to be an American Bobtail and this fits him to a t. People say I should breed him, but I'm an avid supporter of fixing. He could definitely win shows though.

My sons bobtail cat who lived with me when he resided with me and picked up an abandoned cat crying in a culvert when he was landscaping in a wealthy subdivision. She had her ear clipped and I believe her Bobtail is longer than breeders want and believe she was abandoned because of this and luckily Chris rescued her. She is the most vocal cat I have ever met. I think she thinks we are talking when I say she has to wait. Her hunting extinct is top, she has brought to the back door moles, a rabbit which as a lioness job to feed the family. This wild extinct is way different from the last cat that got attached to me as my X-wife and son brought home a domestic cat that for some reason bonded to me. Princess always wanted to sit on my lap for pets and wanted attention and affection all the time. Bobby wont sit on my lap or liked being held but she likes her hair brushed everyday and at night sneaks to sleep next to me. I figure as she ages she will be more affectionate but she gave me a wild national geo experience when she brought in a live vole threw it out her mouth across the kitchen floor batted it a few times and took it in the hallway and bit and crunched its skull. I wish I had it on video .

What differences with Kuril Bobtail? Looks like somebody called Kuril Bobtail as American to register in USA organisations.
@brendaann727 Жыл бұрын
American Bobtails were developed in the US. (not sure if they have done genetic studies? Domestic Bob & Siamese.) Kurillians are from island of Kuril between Russia (Siberia) & Japan & have a little different look about them. They are believed to be a cross of Japanese Bobtail & Siberian. They can be a little bigger, love water, and are even more atheletic. They're tails are supposedly never over a certain length. They are rare here in the US. They do have some similiarities with each other, especially the intelligence part. I have am American Bob and he's alot smarter than my other cats, he is very bold in new situations, and speaks in trills & chirps unlike my other cats.
