Installing MUGEN Style Body Kit on My Honda CRZ!

My Honda CRZ Build continues with the install of the MUGEN Style Kit! After a perfect paint match, this kit COMPLETELY transforms the subtle look of the Honda CRZ. Arguably making it one of the meanest looking hybrids on the road (if that means anything lol). Enjoy!
After months of looking for a painter, I FINALLY got the Bayson R Mugen Style Kit ready to install! So today, Jimmy and I tackle the install and show you some tricks on how to get the perfect fitment. For a replica body kit, we were pretty amazed on how well it fit out of the box. A combination of pop clips, screws, and double sided tape made the install easy. The Honda CRZ is somewhat odd to modify visually. Some people think they already look good for a hybrid, but I think an aggressive OEM+ look fits this car best.
For reference, this kit was made specifically for the 2011-2012 CRZ. The 2013-2015 has a different mugen kit designed for a different front bumper. The 2016 is not compatible with the front bumper, which means you would need to swap bumpers to make it fit. Overall, I think the CRZ has a lower look to it with much more of a presence on the road. The Mugen style spoiler looks at home now and not just an afterthought.
As always, I hope this video helps future CRZ owners or just entertains all of you watching. It went from a beat $2400 auction car to something worthy of daily driving. Now the question is, what wheels and suspension will tie it all together? Also, a big shoutout to Jimmy for all the help and risking his minty 240 in the storm for this install!

I've got a 2013 in Milano Red, had to throw in my two cents. If you're picky about color matching on that black, and you're not a fan of just plain black... Honda already has black accents on the Z in an official paint color! Their Crystal Black is used for the break between the top and rear of the hatch glass, so I used that color when painting the posts of my (eBay spoof) Mugen style wing. Gives it an amazing break from the body, and black is a very slimming color so it gets rid of a bit of that bubble look that people tend to dislike about the Mugen body kit's style.

I like the bayson r kit but for the rear,there's a Duraflex 109298 rear bumper for the crz that looks a bit more aggressive yet like a HPD style. Also for the wing there's a rexxstyling stealth rear wing that looks pretty good on the z's. They also have different style lip kits for the z. But your Bayson R kit looks awesome too.

I'm putting a k20 in my CRZ since hybrid is gross. Nice body kit. I went with the Stealth V2. People flock to my CRZ during meets and I'm always the only one.

Did you try doing the fender liner on the inside of the fender rather than on the outside of the lip? That way you don’t see that it doesn’t look flush

Not going to lie, some of the Bayson R Mugen rep parts were a pain to install. Did not trust the 3M tape for the front lip fog light covers, I'm going to do what you did and use 3M VHB tape. Other than that, it looks really good with the Bayson R Mugen replica kit. All you need to do now is install a supercharger on it and upgrade tires/suspension.

The thing that I dislike the most about the CRZ in general is I think the rear black bit is way too big. If there was a trim panel that could be stuck onto the back to make the painted portion taller imo the back will tie in together more.

I really liked the CRZ when it came out. Yes it was a huge disappointment in terms or sportiness. (It has a “sport mode” lol) But if you re-brand it as a futuristic eco friendly coupe. It is a nice car. Wanted one, but EUROPE has manual transmission only. Stupid Honda decision!

@@epic_errors yes their transmissions were garbage up untill now (now they are decent) But CVT is a decent transmission for city. And like I said… the car is definitely not quick or sporty. So I see no point in manual transmissions. Just drive it like an economical hybrid coupe. I disagree, this car needs automatic. Yes is not fun to drive, but I dont see any thrils in this car with the manual either. Sadly :( Might as well enjoy comfort of not destroying your left shoe

Really depends, I’ve had local shops shoot things for cheap, and other times a huge price increase. Any quote I asked for was specifically to just shoot the paint, and I’ll finish it out. This shop did exactly that and definitely saved me some money
