I'm surprised by your analysis of Mariam's character. To me, she was completely consistent throughout. Every action she took and every way she behaved was well written into the script and acted by the character. She never changed personality or became different. She was just hell bent on teaching them lessons. You do realize they left her for dead right???? Then after doing that, showed zero remorse, and continued to bully her and make false accusations against her. I don't think that her character is toxic at all. She's just a hurt person.

Although I'm not in favor of revenge and bullying, I completely agree with what are you saying. Mariam was the victim, not the villain, I mean, prior of taking things this far, the girls could have just made a non-aggression agreement in order to avoid a lot of the things that happened in the show. When Mariam got bullied, she tried to use her voice to speak up and say the truth, but everybody, including her mom, turned their backs against her so she had two options: to not do anything and keep getting bullied or get revenge and teach them a lesson, so since she was so sick and tired of getting bullied, she chose the second option. Once again, I'm against bullying and getting revenge but in this case, I am on Mariam's side.

I also think there were so many things that happened that made her apathetic to some extent because it was the only way for her to cope. Weirdly them almost killing her wasn’t even the absolute worst thing they did, they did at least 2 other extremely horrible things. I think that her actions made sense given everything in the show, I think some people just didn’t personally like the way it turned out so say it wasn’t consistent or logical. Especially after her two best friends went and became good friends with the girl who almost killed her, accused her of being a pervert, and spread her mental problems across the entire school. She was screwed over not only by the bullies who were the devil she knew, but also by the girls who were supposed to be her friends. Noaf could have just told Miriam what happened in the pool instead of getting pissed at her for wanting revenge which she was always transparent about and Noaf even supported.
@kidanygascot1410
@kidanygascot1410 3 жыл бұрын
@@noel2223 In short, Mariam got betrayed by the two girls who were supposedly her best friends. Noaf and Dina really messed it up, at first they wanted Mariam to get revenge right when Mariam was about to give up, and just because Layan helped Noaf in the pool, Noaf turned her back against Mariam by telling her to stop her revenge and even before that, Noaf turned her back against Mariam when she didn't say exactly what happened in the girls' locker room when Layan accused Mariam of touching her and harassing her. And I know that Noaf saw how the girls were beating Mariam and almost killed her and got threatened through text message saying that if she said anything, she would suffer very serious consequences but Noaf could have spoken up and say that she even got threatened through text message and show the text message to the school director. This could have been stopped any other way but based on what I saw in the show, I believe that this would have been the best way to stop this.

@@BlaineAuld we have a very complicated social structure back in Jordan and in the capital in specific, it’s so diverse that many sides clash over traditions, politics and religion. The show shows a more international yet conservative school setting, influenced by the American media somehow. However, every other social issue presented in the show is absolutely real and in other more intense environments, by intense I mean conservative, the outcomes are way more catastrophic. It’s good this show is casting light on these issues, mind you that it received a hell of a backlash from the majority of the conservative society, which of course is predictable! But what we want to see is them being encouraged rather than discouraged, because our society does enough of that!

hi, i was curious to know about jordan's interesting mix of culture. where in jordan i saw girls are allowed to dress pretty westernized and still be facing all other restrictions which i found a bit weird. because I am from bangladesh, a muslim country, girls in our country can't wear mini skirts/ half pants in streets or home, or backless dress, also we have to wear shawl to cover chest. hijab is not mandatory here but hijab is recommended/pressured upon girls by most families and institutes. but even so , a hijabi girl will never get suspended from school for posting a non-hijabi pic on social media or a girl like lyan won't be killed by her brother as honor killing. i m a in a bit of a culture shock. is this true for jordan?

@@suhailashifa6734 I am from Jordan, I am not from the capital but I studied there (actually in the same school where the show was filmed). I was shocked that their uniform was a pretty short skirt for Jordan and generally they dressed pretty openly for Jordan. There are some people from my school and the capital in general that dress similar to that actually and it’s becoming more and more popular, but it’s nowhere near as normalized as it was on the show. The brother wanting to kill his sister is unfortunately more expected than a girl walking around in shorts or dressed like Noaf. And this not an exaggeration or sarcasm, sadly that’s the reality..

@@suhailashifa6734 you can see this more in the capital rather than the other smaller cities. I studied in all female catholic school in a city outside of the capital, our school staff specially Nuns were as strict as the teacher in this if not even more. However in other school specially international schools in the Capital this is absolutely true but with more conservative school costume. The only thing that bothered people is how freely they talked about these things, dating, skipping classes to hang out with boyfriends..etc! The more rebellious the character is the more strict her family is, ex Layan’s character can be 100% true, the abuse of power because of her father’s name, the fear of getting killed by her brother ( crime of honor) and her mean bully personality is a result of many things obviously. But in general our society is more bothered by a girl’s body than by the fact girls are being killed by the hands of their male relatives who get reduced sentences. When it comes to our bodies it’s everyone’s business but when it’s about our safety and life it’s a personal matter and mostly it’s our own fault.

I think that the whole show is just one tragedy after another. I don’t necessarily agree with the “eye for an eye” mentality, but I think this show was a lot more nuanced than that. I think Miriam was desperate and I feel like it the bullying continued she would have k*lled herself. In that sense, it was one life or another and Miriam chose to have her life (and that’s if you believe that she knew Layan would die if she gave her brother the location, which I’m not sure she did). I appreciated that they gave Layan a situation that showed that she wasn’t 100% evil because it made her more human. But also she did almost kill Miriam, accuse her of being gay and a pervert, and shared her mental health problems with everyone which is disgusting. I didn’t really get why they targeted Miriam as much as they did because for someone like Layan who is so rich and well-connected, what’s the point with trying so hard to punch down? I’m also not from the area, I’m from the US so maybe it’s just a difference with how bullying manifests.

I was pretty impressed with the protrayal of the bullies, especially Rainia (the best friend of the main bully)...the way she would downplay the bullying and laugh it off was SO realistic. It was such typical teen beehaviour, not seeing the consequences of her or her peers' actions. I also liked the way it became evident towards the end that there were reasons behind why the bullies lied to get out of trouble. It wasn't very clear WHY they kept picking on Mariam in the first place though...then again, when it comes to bullying, there often isn't a reason and they just choose a random person as a scapegoat I guess

@@kelansamuel5768 I don't think it was jealousy but more trying to prove to her that they were the "alphas". Every girl at the school was scared of them or loved them. If they despised them, they still were silent. Mariam was the only one who didn't stay quiet when the girls bullied her. Sure she was visibly stressed but she talked back. We never saw that in the show and when Noaf and Layan did the exercice about bullying, it was very clear that Layan wasn't used to people talking back to her. Honestly except for sport, the girls didn't have any reason to be jealous of Mariam (and Rania didn't even have to be jealous in sport, she was better). It was shown that pretty much all the girls at this school are good student. But Layan and her friends are the ones in control. By talking back, Mariam became a threat to this position. Because if this girl talks back, we can do it, right ? It was more a thing to secure their position. They couldn't let Mariam get away with it, this was too infuriating.
@Ireallylikepotatoesandbg3
@Ireallylikepotatoesandbg3 3 жыл бұрын
I think they were jealous because Mariam had a way less restricted life in comparison. Mariams room is covered in posters about empowering women, her dad is warm and non-threatening unlike Rania and Layans fathers, Mariam was able to talk to a boy without her parents flipping out, she wasn’t constantly having to worry about messing up over doing normal teenage things. A prime example is how after Mariam is accused of sexual harassment instead of being disowned or hurt by her parents they attempt to get her help and allow her to continue her education, but for Riqqayah she was prevented from completing her education and being with her friends because she sent a picture without her hijab to a boy. The three bullies had little to no power outside of school and were consistently abused by their families, Layan had almost no privacy so they resorted to seeking power from elsewhere. Now this not in anyway a justification for what they did, there is no justification. The bullying they did was abhorrent, it’s an explanation of why they may have turned towards bullying.

@@Ireallylikepotatoesandbg3 this is the answer. they took all their frustration and pain out on someone else in the only place they could, on whoever annoyed them, it wasn't even about Mariam for them, she just inconvenienced them and was a bit different so she became the victim. that's how it always goes with bullying, there's no specific reason, if they want to find one they will. none of this justifies any of it of course, but it's fully understandable to me why it would have happened.

I loved the series because I come from a similar cultural/regional background but I disliked the second half of the show. ***spoiler ahead???*** I can’t tell why the writers went that route with the show, to make the victim the baddie and give the bullies the worst justification for their behavior. This portrayal of the girls was quite perfect, the actors are all lovely and so beautiful, but the second half trivialized Mariam’s bullying and experience so much I wanted to cry. Noaf’s inner conflict was so pointless. She never did the right thing when it mattered. Her change of heart towards Layan was a singular moment and it overshadowed literally everything else Layan had done to Mariam. Noaf never came through. Not at the start and not at the end. Dina felt like she just wanted to be one of the cool kids, throughout. How Mariam was pushed aside by her friends at all points was so hurtful. Also, to give Rania and Layan the rubbish backstory of having controlling families/an abusive father was so hurtful to me, because that is literally the justification I’ve seen so many people make for this type of behavior? Like no. Your home life does influence your behavior but that DOESNT make it alright. And to take THAT, and just make Layan and Rania anti-heroes? No.

I'm actually glad that they showed us their home life and family dynamics cause it's not some rubbish back story,it helps you understand the characters more, and it's in no way justifying what they did but after seeing their families it all makes sense, why each character said this or did that it all made sense after seeing each of their home lives including mariam's.

I've heard Somone before saying how they were bullied by this kid and how he beat them only to find out years later that the kid had an abusive parent who'd beat him regularly and that could make you feel helpless and not in control of your life which can be scary especially for a kid and so he probably didn't know how to deal with it so when he couldn't retaliate to his parent he beat up this innocent person in order to feel like he was in control again in retaliation of what happened to him. Of course the parent being abusive doesn't justify how the kid beat up an innocent person cause that's bad but if you punish the bully they won't change just like how if layan was punished she wouldn't change she'd only retaliate harder or move on to another victim cause you didn't solve the root of the problem being the parent who beat the kid in the first place

People with abusive families can sometimes end up being abusive to others. The trauma of abuse can do that to a person sadly. It’s not a justification so much as it is an explanation for why they may be behaving this way. I do agree though, that they trivialized Mariam’s trauma and what she went through and just made her look like the bad guy. It’s very sad. I do understand Noaf’s actions though because when she finally saw the human side of Layan, she was shocked and ended up in a moral dilemma. Actually, the ending was bizarre because of the kind of family Layan is from. It's obvious she is from a wealthy upper class family, like most of the girls at that school. "Honor killings" are pretty much unheard of in such families. Realistically, the worst her family would have done is make her stop talking to Laith. A few families that have particularly crazy brothers or dads would have beaten up or threatened the guy in that situation,. But it was odd that it implied she got killed because that kind of stuff usually happens in the impoverished and uneducated areas, and that goes for any Arab/Muslim country.

The character development of Mariam clearly shows how a mental illness is developed, from the sweetest girl you’d know to the heartless monster that she becomes is true and accurate, it clearly shows how bullying and hurt can change a heart and create evil characters, jumping to the last scene where Layan is Murdered by her brother because she’s in a guys apartment wearing his clothes, is referred to as (honor crime) which allows men to murder a women of their family (mostly sisters and daughters) if they somehow degrade the family and the honor of the family, the limits vary from a family to another, unfortunately this is an issue that has no law against it cause it rose from the ancient tribal mentality, and the community is working on addressing it as a CRIME and MURDER and not a (honor crime) which is not punished by the law … yet ✌🏼 3/3

I didn’t find the bullying itself unusual, but the detailed planning behind it (but that just comes with the show). What I did find unusual tho, is the fact that Mariam was seeing a therapist. Then when they made fun of her about it, it made more sense and made it more realistic. This extent of bullying is more prominent in younger kids, or less fancy schools tho, that’s what makes it a little unrealistic. In Jordan no one really cares about warning people when they talk about suicide or mental health issues, usually no one even dares to talk about it and the fact that they mentioned it in the show is pretty great. However, at the end they did portray her as a psycho so I don’t know how great it really was. If anyone has any other questions I’d be happy to answer them!

When you mentioned the group of girls in the background who are always switching sides, I think it’s just showing how some people are opportunistic and want to jump on the “popular” wagon, so when someone appears to be losing popularity or in a middle of a scandal they immediately switch sides/allegiances because they don’t want to be on the side of the “loser.” I feel like I have seen this theme in many high school shows and movies, where you have these people who are so desperate to make the popular kids like them that they side with whomever is currently popular and ditch whomever is currently unpopular.

Honestly I could relate to many scenes of the series. I was bullied in an arabic country my all childhood in school for being too feminine as a boy, which is very badly seen in the arabic sociaty. Kids are smart, they wont bully you in front of teachers, they wait the teachers to take their break then they jump on you. Even if Tunisia is much more open minded than other arabe countries like Jordan; social pressure and hypocrisy is the same, which explains why many arabes leave their country at some point.

You ask where were the teachers when the bullying occurred and why did they not stop the bullying. See, in Jordan having a family member who has a powerful position is like being in the mafia. Many teachers do not dare to upset these individuals. I have personally witnessed teachers cower when it comes to students who come from powerful families. As a matter of fact, I have seen students bully teachers knowing that there was no way they’d get in trouble. This series accurately represented the situation in some schools in Jordan. I can say that because I witnessed it first hand at my old all-girls school. Additionally, it does well-represent the cultural aspects. I have heard of and witnessed even worse things in Jordan that I what I saw in the show.

I disagree with a lot of points you mentioned. But most importantly about Roqaya picture in the cyber bullying scene it wasnt about the bra strap. It isnt so foreign or unacceptable if she wasnt a hijabie. The point was that she decided to take off her hijab for a guy she hasnt even met and easily let go of her values and standards where a hijabie woman only shows her hair to family, so even if she’s romantically involved with him, she can show him her hair or anything else rather than hand and face and be physical with him only when he becomes her fiancé or husband. It wasnt about the bra strap.

Tbh I loved the show, although i'm not Jordanian but it struck close to me in some parts (like using your parent's position for your advantage) I really think it depicts uncomfortable societal standings in Jordan in regards to women accurately(for example the fact both Rania & Laylan need to hide their relationships, Ruqayya's mother scolding her and saying how she was shaming the family name, that she's 'damaged goods' and more.) I also really found Miriam's revenge to be so entertaining and how she became more and more obsessed with it. It makes you think if her means justify the end or if she did in fact take it too far, so the question of morality gets involved too.

Hey! Jordanian here, lived in Jordan for 27 years, bullying is extremely underrated in the Middle East, along with mental health. The series discusses issues that are extremely real and accurate in the Arab community not only the Jordanian, I’d like to highlight that many girls who wear the Hijab take it off, and not a big fuss is made about it, what happened to Roqayya is that she took the photo without her Hijab, showing a bra strap and in the schools toilet, sending it to a random guy that she doesn’t know 1/?

Yeah hijab actually is not that common among North Africans, Lebanese, or Jordanians. It was really common among war torn impoverished societies. Palestine is a special example as most of them are forbidden from moving point a to point B bc settlers or live in an open air prison. Most Palestinians only have Palestinian references. It was more increase of hijabis in the 80s after America and i*rael funder jihadists groups to take down plo, PFLP, and other secular groups they saw as threats. A lot of the scoffing westerners do at these issues is hypocritical bc in some countries like Palestine or Yemen they either create or escalate these situations.

The level of bullying and fighting back makes sense to me. The girls literally accused Miriam of Sexual assault AND assault. They practically ruined her life so Miriam wanted that exact revenge, for her revenge to hit home. The hive mind thing makes sense to me. These people aren't friends but they want to be accepted so they go along with whatever. I do agree with the suicide prevention warning I was hoping it was there. I'm from the middle east, not Jordan specifically, but the gulf. There was many parallels the show had to the experience I had in school. I also went to a private girl's school, with a more western education and more westernized students than most of the rest of the country. Our school uniform also had skirts, length was up to you because you would buy the material and tailor the skirts. Some people had long skirts, some had short. It was all normal. Specifically what's really accurate is the bullying, and how the girls can be your friend one day and part of the bullying squad the next. I know you had a hard time understanding it, but it actually is a phenomenon I witnessed in my school. It's not that all is forgiven and forgotten, it's that everyone wants to do everything they can to remain relevant, and not be the bullied ones. So if one girl is being bullied one day, the girls are part of the "crowd." If suddenly she is not being bullied anymore, then she can be included in the activities, and the "crowd" are suddenly her friends again. As for the girl, well, she doesn't want to be left out, so she will pretend it's ok and nothing happened. Also something particularly interesting I noticed from the show and from the school I went to, the "bully" girls were usually the ones who would be really risky to skip school and meet boyfriends, or bring them to school events, and they were also the ones who would come to school randomly one day with bruises from their family. They get bullied at home, they come to school to bully others, and they try to rebel as much as possible. There was one girl I knew in school who was a bully, and one day she came to school with so many bruises all over, she said her brother found her with a boy in a public place and beat her up. Her brother was as insane as Layan's, she said if they had been caught alone in the car or something then he would've killed them both. And he would've gotten away with it, too, as my country barely punishes honor killing as a misdemeanor.

Also I forgot to mention there was one girl who wore hijab for a few months then decided to remove it because she thought she was manipulated into it, and people really gossiped about her for weeks over it, called her a slut, etc, very similar to what happened with Ruqayya. Even girls who never wore hijab to begin with, would bully this girl for removing hers.

I'm from the middle east and pretty much most things are accurate, just dramatised. The only smidget of effort the school does (which was also somewhat portrayed in the show) is to get a recent graduate of the school and have her give an 'anti-bullying' type of lecture-speech in an assembly or something. We would usually know these girls or at least heard of them (from them being seniors while we're freshmen), and usually they themselves would be the type of two faced bullies who would be all buddy buddy with the school staff (which is why they specifically are asked to come give this assembly anyway) while tormenting their classmates when no one was watching. I think if they showed flashbacks of the alumni herself bullying others while giving her speech, that would strike something in me haha.

Hi Blaine. Thank you for the review of the series. I just wanted to say that about the scene where the girls bully Mariam when they discover that she goes to a therapist and is taking anti anxiety pills that this scene, although is very exaggerated and cruel beyond belief, aimed to represent the way that the whole Arabic culture see mental illness. It is a taboo and a stigma in Arab countries that any person goes to see a therapist or a psychiatrist. It is seen as a sign of weakness and even lack of faith in God, because if you believe in God, then you won't think such horrible thoughts or have these negative feelings. Because I am a part of many local Facebook groups in my country that are dedicated for girls in their late teens and late twenties, I know that many many Arab girls go to seek mental health help, but they never want to talk about it and always ask about these issues or seek recommendations anonymously. They know that if the people knew about their mental problems, they would criticize them for that later. For example, one of my female relatives had post partum depression for a long time and resorted to a psychiatrist and had to take pills for this matter for a short while, and her brother also suffers from depression, her ex husband, before divorce, when they were arguing once said to her that you are crazy and your family is crazy and all of you get medicated for depression and mental illnesses. So he used his information about her mental illness to hurt her and stab her in the back.

There are no solutions to anything without the Torah when one cannot be happy from the distorted form that attracts as a false representation and without bringing satisfaction but only from the corrected form and from seeing eternity as purpose. For one who is not a Jew, his destiny does not include the Torah, but his connection must exist with what is required of it and what worked benefited her when providence takes care of every one for it and when only this constitutes the eternal honor of every one. So one must understand and respect about one who needs a correct form includes whoever want to see at their spouses men and women sadististic or masochistic tendencies with those who are interested in developing in that out of underststanding that completion exists thus martial arts is not only positive also for women that need at it for requiring recognation of their ability whever possible and as much as possible from learning improved techniques but also for men that it attract them to see it at women that have sadistic tendencies that can develop themselves at it and with what those women attracted at doing it in their bedroom even by forcing those men at it in any way that can be effective for them at it and as much as required at that for supply their passion at freedom to their stengths at it towards men that it attracts them and out of fun to be beneath them and with degree and level of sadism required for those women for the warming process that is required for them to achieve a relationship that is out of love with who identify with all they want and with their condescension and which convey to them how much they enjoy every moment in it and with initiative to diversify and develop in into even more complex situations that can interest those women and make them fun and happy in a shared passion to a wonderful huge monster that will grow in it by encouraging them for it and by encouraging them for stength their abilities in it and out of admiration for their feminine beauty in it and in their sadism. In anycase out of the necessity of preserving the values of honor that are required on the part of them towards their husbands by their understanding that the values of honor that are required on the part of these men in it towards them not cancel the values of honor that are required on the part of them to their husbands and they are not allowed to take over of their affairs and also by understanding that although in this territory they are strong with what obliges those men with dignity of those women and also in its wake they have to take it into account with the values of respect they owe to them where their husbabands are strong. in doing so when these women receive the answer whever possible and as much as it required to them and with the identification and appreciation of the couple their condescension with their sadistic sense of these men gets a sense of satisfacation and serenity and the couple achieves in it a relationship of love that saves his life thus it also a duty of those men towards what is requested for those women that need it as a correcred form in fulfillment of their common duty to the god commanding to take care of the happiness of these women at the best.

Expresses on behalf of all for it in light of reference here to the most complex form and it's details from which all possibilities are derived for every possible corrected form and to the new rules of the game that will be committed according it. Torah has revealed that with every desire that the Creator has created in someone, a corrected form is also necessary that must fulfill his desire out of initiative for this and that must not be given up. When this is not possible, the answer is necessary out of a general initiative for him and when this is not possible, the Creator prepared the answer for him in those who were created for the way they must complete it for him out of general duty towards each one in this so that he may worship the creator happily when that impossible to escape the will of the creator in this and also disconnect all it from the refernce to the matter. Those women are entitled to it in any case even when those men have the highest status and those women are in the lowest status when everyone controls them and those women take advantage of the attraction of those men to be married by them for control on these men and also when those women have sadistic tendencies and they want to force those men be helpless beneath them and out of condescenssion on these men in it when the thing isn't evil it hunger for these women nature thus rather it is a general duty to satisfy natural hunger of each other for each other and out of this it is general duty to satisfy the hunger in that of all women created in this way so towards and as auch towards this group of women that the men destined for her would remain in her possession when enough proof of attraction to it in someone for this group to be able to obligate him towards her when it is also from obligatory to neutralize from him the environmental pressure that can prevent him from these women when it is not up to the choice of those men who are helpless from their attraction to satisfy their hunger and they are not interested in the pressure that comes to prevent it from them so they gives this group the ownership on them in a way that she obliges them only in her and with all that obligatory towards her as owner which deprives them any right when it conflicts with the good of all the women of the group for whom she is responsible and when from this a general duty is created on the part of those women one for the other as members of a group who care about maintaining their power in it as a group as an adress that attracts the intended men for ensuring the possibility of obligating of all men who are destined for it in the possibility of receiving confessions from such men to the last of them in order to close before them other options to ensure the fulfilment of this duty towards all women created in this way. Also the basis for attracting such women depends on empathizing with their sadism with proving readiness for it, and when neutralizing the environmental pressure from them, they prefer the ugliest and most backward men who are such over the beautiful and popular who are not so this promise, too, for all the women thus created creates for them a horizon for seeing a practical possibility which produces in such women an attraction towards it out of love for those for whom it was intended and which thereby replaces in them the distorted thinking of its absence when on all this out of reference to the most extreme case to throw from it to every possible case in it. A number of women who were forced to be enslaved to family as its servants in hard labor and permanently and out of the women's recognition of his dignity of each son of the family to command them in doing so when one of the women was able to prove to the father that was widowed and who hid his attraction to the sadistic tendencies of her daughter that she could prove it. In doing so, she closed to him any possibility of marrying a woman who does not belong to this group and thereby saved his life, from here her daughter pressured him to marry her out of his commitment to release her mother and to the whole matter . Though her mother meant it for the future of her daughter her daughter ascend to status of his master to her sadistic tendencies wherever he committed towards her though she remains servant of his sons without their possibility of limiting her at all . However she can not command him about the other women who must continue to obey his command and when it does not concern his family members who must respect him as the father when no one can enter to their bedroom and with duty towards him to raise her status out of his compensation to them for it and from their responsibility for his happiness in raising her dignity. In any case even if she remains servant of all the other his family members they are not allowed cause her from relinquishing her rights wherever he commited himself without possibility of limiting her at all and even when she forces him to be helpless beneath her out of exerting pressure every her body weight on him and out of condescenssion on him also if it can be seems that she feels that this is also condescenssion on his family from a general obligation towards these women to satisfy their natural hunger with men whose that their hunger when the dignity and the status of these men and their family can not stand against the duty towards the god commanding on the best for the happiness of these women and girls when thus these women were created by him and when every these elements are required to them to achieve a love with who identify with all they want in it and therefore nothing cant be given up. Also from understanding of these women that they can feel comfortable with their natural desire even towards the biggest men that committed to them from what that their dignity in it is considered as digniity of daughters of king.

The Torah requires an overall responsibility in keeping its rules so that everyone can work for the Creator out of joy so there is no room for emotional consideration that will break the possibility of a texture in it with great people that were created in such way among them those who are incapable without it when it is not subject to choice when without it distorted thinking develops and when also great people are human beings thus those who are not great people leave straight path in such a situation and fall to doom and great people rise up every time that they are fall and time after time. So to create a consciousness that will allow them to put things exactly as they are interested in must say it here for them out of shattering all the conventions that bind them in a cage of gold. In concerning to it when they come to it is as private individuals who owe in the said rules when it is necessary to keep the respect that is obligated towards them and on the other hand with the respect that is required on their part wherever they enter which includes everything that is committed to sadistic women who are entitled to any form and in any way that those women are interested in, which obliges towards those women on the part on the rules of the field which they have chosen to enter and that obliges these men towards them as who are deprived of all status and even all base rights even they brought them into their home wherever they committed to those women before they are married and from this they are enslaved to them in this and requires it as well in sadistic criminal women who sat in jail and were pardoned out of their commitment for them with promise in this for those women in the enforcement of their rights and in a unilateral manner only for those women wherever there is evidence of intent on the part of men of status to deprive those women of their rights in it or their dignity in it when it's just excuse for something else and even when those same men seek to curb it. In particular that in the existence of these forces this is a response that is committed to preventing distorted thinking also in those women and from what she positively satisfies for those women high self esteem and as much as possible that is necessary for them in their forces with love to those men who yearn to achieve it for them and for their love with them and with what that out of it enables these men also to develop them out of tools that enables them to do so as great people in personality in abilities and on levels and with what these women know that these men are helpless towards them and from their attraction to their sadistic tendencies which adds to their satisfaction in their ability in this that enables them also to oblige in the best answer for them. As such any possibility of principle in this regard is discussed for her sake thus in this way everything is possible in this and in any case and thus before they get married they must make sure that there is an overlap in everything to clarify where there are anomalies so too where both spouses want to see sadistic tendencies in each other and when it is not agreed in writing then the understanding is that in any case the intent of the spouses on all that is possible in this although without endangering and out of the responsibility of those women.

so it is obligatory to take out of the closet women who are ashamed of their sadistic tendencies in securing their future for happiness in it from the extraction of all that can be possible for them in it that will develop them in personality in skills and levels with matching men who identify with everything that sadistic women are want in it and with experiencing it for them to a thriving love and especially for giving pardon to sadistic women who are criminals and are sitting in jail out of commitment of men for them in it that they will be encouraged to build an orderly and happy corrected life out of the routing of these forces that exist in them towards them whever they need it and that they will love them and will identify with them in this and with commitment of those men not to relinquish their personality wherever that those men are capable even if this can attract those women as a greater possibility of achieving satisfaction and as misreprasantation because that will make those women feel that this is reduces value in the dignity that is required and when every these elements required for them to achieve a relationship that is out of a love and when nothing can be given up however even without it since this was avoided in these womem there is obligatory on the part of the prisons to grant them a pardon wherever they find men who will commit to it and the prisons also must provide them with the weapons to attract these men through study of martial arts during their time in prison with the basic definition of forms that creates satisfacation on both sides and in everything that can be possible to prevent deviations when the meaning of preventing deviations is to come from it to love In any case, these women must understand that these men are helpless towards them from their attraction to their sadistic tendencies and prefer even the ugliest and the most inferior women in doing so to the faces of the most talented and popular women who are not , and in light of the way these men are constructed in order to identify with them and reach with them for satisfacation and love that exists in light of the way the two sides are built to complement each other and as such even when those men seek to curb it this is not their true intention thus these women can feel sure with their natural desire although of duty to appreciate the identification and love of those men towards them from their this inferior position and also out of aim of seeing as much value as possible in these men as long as it does not come at the expense of what is required by these men and therby achieve a relationship and love that is necessary for both parties

Out of reference to regarding what is discussed above she can not command him about the other women who must continue to obey his command . With regard to his parents and from what parents are involved in their sons life though it is a hypothetical case a refrence must be made from such an extreme case to cast for any possibility in it as to what is warranted in the rights and dignity when in such a case it is necessary to come to terms with reversing the situation in it that requires their sons in the dignity of their maids as their servants with the reversal situation of their sons who fall from the status of strong men when these women are strengthned as strong women in light of what the facts are clear in it and that out of that it is impossible to escape from the facts even if these women dont say it explicitly and in light of the fact that the feelings exists and from to put things this way with the same women . To take it to affection with those women out of buying their hearts with genuine sympathy and immense appreciation for them in it out of raising their status as daughters of family that can feel comfortable with their will and with their dignity that is required their sons towards them as strong women who see what is required towards them on the part of weak for achieving their love and especially from responssibility for the happiness of their sons who yearn with all their soul for the empowerment of those women wherever possible and as much with happinness for them in it . Also with what their sons yearn to feel liberated without the stress of having later give an account about these women and not to these women for it and out of respect of their parents towards them even if it comes from a sense of superiority over their sons when this is price that commits to them to achieve a relationship and love and when they enjoy paying it in fun. So also in seeing them as daughters also with concern to advacement of their status in importing values for them with the acquisition of education for them and their promotion where those women are talented and interested

i think the main thing that stood out for me is how families are so willing to kill their kids when they step out of line in the toxic culture we have. This whole situation could’ve have been kept under control and things would have been fine in the end, but layans brother was only worried about what people would think of them, and their reputation. This is not only very realistic but there are real news headlines of arab and muslim girls dying because they hung out with a man. girls even sometimes get hurt when the family was fully aware that they were seeing a guy in the first place. i’ve been victim to the “no talking to guys” mentality and i’ve gotten my farshare of punishment for it. tho it’s not as exaggerated as layans situation, it’s still terrifying and your life turns around for the worse. i’m not saying mariam didn’t have a right to get her revenge or that she shouldn’t feel hurt about her pain, but i think their situations aren’t comparable. How are you going to ruin someone’s life and knowing full well that their family will kill them (since it’s a very common culture thing) when what they did to you was mostly in school. mariam should have just done something only related to school, i think she could have handled it better

In general going to therapy and caring for mental health was considered a shame and shouldn’t be talked about publicly for a years in the arab world only now they starting to recognize how important it is and usually especially for the muslim community if you ask to go to a therapist they would think you have a lack in faith and your you’re religious belief are Weak and that you need to read the Quran or talk to an emam to bless you and usually therapists would usually say that to patients as well so it’s a good representation in the series because that’s just how they see therapy but again now it’s getting more recognition that mental health is just as important as physical health and that it has nothing to do with faith and asking for help is not shameful

That isn’t necessarily true I am from Lebanon and among the maronites here it is incredibly taboo for Christians. Some people would talk about seeing if they were possessed by demons. You all forget not everyone is Muslim. Also the “Arab world” is not applicable to a country like Turkey, Iran, or the several non-Arabs who live in SWANA like Chaldeans, Armenians, Kurds, Circassians, West Africans, Romas, Zazas, the many Iranic minorities, South Asian refugees, Filipinos, Turkmen, etc.

I'm from the middle east, I have to say bullying here at least from my experience is not as extreme as the diary scene we're not in a movie lmao especially when we're talking about girls here, when it comes to girls bullying is more under the table wether it being spreading rumors about Somone like how layan did with mariam at first or out-casting Somone or comments like how layan would mock mariam for being "flat chested"or how rania told Dina she should exercise, and if the diary scene were to happen irl it'd be more like layan taking pictures of the diary and sending it out on a class group chat or to her friends privately to make fun of mariam it's never done out in the open like that which makes it all the more difficult to collect evidence for when you wanna tell a teacher cause if you just tell the teacher they can't do anything about it without evidence cause the bully can just undermine the issue or say you're lying and the teacher wouldn't know who to believe so all they can do is make the bully apologize with a mere "sorry" and they're off. so even if you tell someone nothing happens and even worse you'll be labeled as a snitch. In the rare cases that I've seen Somone actually being punished it's usually if a teacher witnessed smth or found a note the bullies had passed to this person in that case the bully wasn't allowed recess or P.E. for a week or were told off by the Principal and then let go after, also when boys fight their parents would get called in or if it's serious they get suspended for what a day? Maybe two? Which is really sad I have to admit but in the past few years some schools mostly private ones have started pushing anti bullying policies and offering counseling for when instances like this happen so even though it's not much they have recognized the problem and are trying to change for the better so I can only hope it does.

The difference between bullying in Canada and bullying in the Arab world in general is that even if the student was the son of Justin Trudeau he would still be held accountable for his behavior. In the arab world, society is so classed, and by that I mean if I bully a person in a higher class than me then I can't say anything or I could get in trouble, and they will never get in trouble, but if I do that to someone in a higher class than me, then well I chose death. I felt like that was so well represented in this show by Ms Faten and Ms Abeer. Ms Faten is afraid of what Layan's father would do if he finds out that she ditched school but she didn't care about Layan herself. Also, Ms Faten let her off the hook which Ms Abeer doesn't agree with because it's unfair to the other students. But Mariam makes one little mistake, which she didn't, and she gets suspended. INEQUALITY!!!!

yeah we do, mostly students who studied in what we call "international" schools, where your entire curriculum is taken from western syllabus. you hear and speak so much english every day that it naturally integrates itself within the arabic, and happens more frequently when you're surrounded by friends who also went to that kind of school. more often than not english becomes a substitute for words we've forgotten, since it's a common thing for bilinguals to start forgetting words in both languages lmao i think another reason for this is how we've become so exposed to western media and how it gets glorified, so even people who haven't studied much english before are using popular english slang a lot

Historically they are Arabs they literally descend from Nabateans and ghassanids. It is different for let’s say Palestinians, Syrians, and Lebanese who have majority either aramean, Canaanite, with small ghassanids, Greek heritage. But they internally are descendants of the ethnic term of Arabs which Nabateans fell under. Being from a certain area doesn’t mean you are suddenly that ethnic group. The Bedouin who have been in the levant since 6000 BC still have origins in the peninsula. As well as the Armenian populations of Palestine, Syria and Lebanon not being automatically any of this ethnicities just because they took refuge their.

Oh my God so much agreed, especially with Mariam being an inconsistent character and how overly exaggerated some of the bullying scenes are. The diary scene gave me the impression that the writer has never interacted with a gen z highschooler. While I find the bar for how Arabs deal with mental health issues is on the ground, I don't believe ALL Arab teens are this ignorant or vicious when it comes to mental health. Kids of our generation are the most exposed to Western media out of older generations, therefore the most likely to be educated about mental health and more willing to advocate for it. It felt so...odd and unrealistic that not a single girl tried to reach out to Mariam, not a single girl related to her suicidal thoughts or struggles because trust me, there's a lot of us out there. I know this is a drama but that scene felt straight up stupid.

One shot was fired at the end, so based on the evidence it seems that Layan was killed at the end. Not sure what became of the boyfriend, definitely a tragic ending either way!

@@BlaineAuld It's an open ending, but more likely to portray honour killings right, both would be killed, not just one, so the headmistress lost her son too that's why that last shot was emphasised. Also in my opinion if the father of Layan was the one who found out about their relationship first he would've acted more discreetly and will solve the dishonour by marrying them both, even if they were very young

I didn't like the ending, because it's basically "if you bully someone, they will murder you."

@@yibril2254 13 Reasons Why started out as a limited series but ended up getting 3 or 4 seasons. I loved the show, but I personally don’t think it needs another season or a renewal. I think when shows go on for longer than they’re intended is where people get disappointed. The only question that’s somewhat unanswered is whether or not Layan is dead but I don’t think that really changes anything about the show as a whole other than people wanting some closure on that.

Before anyone here who’s never been bullied makes any dumb comments, remember that you’re commenting from a place of privilege (The privilege being that you never had to go through bullying yourself) and that you would’ve probably gone as far or even done worse than Mariam.

The only wrong thing that Mariam did is when she created a fake profile to lure the bully with hijab. But the rest is just okay because all she did is just snitch the two bullies.
