The World's Most EMBARRASSING Fan Base?

Serious question: would you date a Lord of the Rings mega-fan? Not just a casual, “Sure I saw the movies” fan but like a “I dress up like the characters and own replicas of film-used props” fan?
Maybe hairy-footed hobbits are a little too rich for your blood, but chances are, if you’re in a relationship, you’re dating or married to either a Harry Potter, Marvel or Star Wars fan. Is that cool or nah?
It can be difficult to watch your loved ones  let loose and nerd out about their fandoms. At best it’s annoying. At worst? It can be downright grotesque.

Oh my gosh! I visited New Zealand with a couple of friends. The AirBNB host told us the jeweler shop that made the jewelry for Lord of the Rings was a coupe of blocks away. We were like 🤯. We video re d the shop and had a really cool education about the different jewelry pieces as well as New Zealand gems. Got to see prototypes and screen used jewlery. My deepens actually flew back a couple years later to have the jewlery make their wedding rings.

I love all of these fandoms, but Harry Potter will always have a special place in my heart. I grew up with the books before the movies were out. On my 11th birthday, I got up early before my family was awake and sat on my front porch to wait for my owl. My birthday is in January and I lived in Alberta Canada. I waited for over an hour while the snow collected on my head 😂 Flash forward 14 years and my brother ordered my Hogwarts Acceptance letter to be sent to me for my 25th birthday. I was an emotional wreck.

Fandom, at its core, is something that makes a person happy and provides a sense of comfort. Whatever fandom you’re a part of, as long as it makes you feel good and gives you something to enjoy, that’s all that matters. Of all of these, I’m mostly a HP fan. But I am a part of too many fandoms. They’re Disney, HP, Marvel, sitcoms/comedies like Friends, The Office, Psych, and Schitts Creek, and the tv series Supernatural (maybe my strongest fandom of all!). Whenever I’m having a tough time or just need to unwind and recharge, something from one of these fandoms does the trick to help.

I love LOTR because it fills me with hope, more than Harry Potter did (sorry Molly) mostly because so many characters in HP died by the end of the books and it was soo sad. I literally google Sam's speech in Two Towers constantly.

Thoughts on Star Wars that no one asked for... The Mandalorian has been the best. My issue with Star Wars is always that it's so black and white. Like Sirius said to Harry - the world isn't only good vs bad. Like no one helped Anakin when he was in love????? Instead they had no compassion, no wonder he became evil!

I fall in none of the categories. Once again, I'm with Breedlove, Disney parks. I don't even watch most of the Disney movies (and I don't have Disney +), just love the parks. I saw the original three Star Wars movies and watched the first of the third trilogy, well, because Harrison Ford. I saw the Harry Potter movies but didn't read the books. I read The Lord of the Rings, didn't see the movies. I've seen a few of the MCU movies, mostly the ones with Thor in them, well, because Chris Hemsworth. I think I've read a few of comic books and watched a few of the old Superman movies. My son, on the other hand. He read all the Harry Potter books and saw all the movies. He read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and saw the movies. He saw all the Star Wars movies and there are actually books out there, which he read. He has read most of the comics - the old ones and the new ones, and has seen all of the MCU movies. He does have Disney + and I'm pretty sure has seen every Disney movie even the original Snow White. What can I say, I taught the boy (man) to love to read and to be diverse.

Personally I think marvel is the best. The early work from Stan Lee and the rest of the marvel team was far ahead of its time in addressing racism and bigotry. The MCU revolutionized the movie industry by creating an ongoing cinematic universe that lets us continue along the storyline of a great movie for years to come. Thanks for the awesome video!
