Thanks Allec. A lesson learned without a crash is always better.

I like that the pilot immediately returned to the airport when a problem was detected. That's my kind of pilot...take no chances. He made a mistake.....it happens and he went right back to the airport. He didn't try to keep flying it.

I have a suggestion for a future video. There was a pilot named Emilio Carranza, who was a friend of Charles Lindberg. In June of 1928 he flew solo from Mexico City to Washington, DC, and then on to New York. Then on July 12 he attempted to fly back to Mexico City, but crashed during a thunderstorm, in the woods of Burlington County, New Jersey. To this day, every year in July there is an annual memorial service for him at the crash site.

This is the first Emirates accident during their operation history. Even with the first hull loss (Emirates 521), the airlines managed to get no people died on their jets.

amazingly, they are ranked as the safest line to fly on. FedEx and United should look.

Umm I think you need to check facts. It has had several accidents in its history since. Yes true no fatalities but a number of accident. Even in my home town Melbourne, an Wmirate plane taking off failed to gain height fast enough and clipped several structures at the end of the runway and luckily enough got airborne but had to return.

@@xr6lad Emirates 407, right? I checked Wikipedia and true, they have many accidents. As the reason why you getting confused, i did't mention it because this is their first accident.

One think I dislike about Airbus is there jotstick contorl - it reminds of old school video game like Atari. The control is hidden and discrete, elevating the risk of counter inputs from both pilots - AF447 comes to mind.
@None-zc5vg12 күн бұрын
The tiny sidestick seems more like a styling gimmick than an improvement to the cockpit layout. It's asking to cause confusion as it did with AF 447.

Curious why the flaps locked. The damage described at the end of the video makes it sound like they just lost some tires and that was it. Clearly having flat tires doesn’t affect the functioning of the flaps. What was the total inventory of the damage done?
@roberthudson19597 ай бұрын
I see two CRM issues here. First of all, two pilots with no time-in-type on the same flight doesn't seem wise. Second, why did the captain ignore the suggestion to use the parking brake?
@2760ade7 ай бұрын
I don't really get this one. Surely the captain must have used the SSOI as an indication when rotating hundreds of times, without incident. What is so different about this airbus compared to previous ones he had flown?
@DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey37 ай бұрын
Yeah, that confused me as well. It said they had experience on the A340-500 but this was an A340-300X Is there really that much difference between them, like a Cessna 172 vs Boeing 747?

Tower after pilots request to inspect: there is no debris on the rwy. Tower again: there are some tire shreds on the rwy. Tower for a third time: there are also some clipped approach lights ...!
@airplanedata10763 ай бұрын
The video does not state if the crew retracted the LG. Burst tires can cause the enclosed wheel wells to heat up and damage hydraulic lines. Maybe thats why the flaps "jammed" ...!?

I think Emirates may have had a similar incident in Melbourne with an A380 or perhaps a B773ER . Miscalculation of T/O weights might have been the cause .
