A childhood obsession. Mark-Maxwell Smith was kind enough to answer my question about how the board worked...it was quite the process, involving opening and closing the right panels, and placing the clear letter slides.

This is such a trip, that's my Dad AL on the show. Thank you Paula Hewitson for posting this.

wow! really? I'm sure it was filmed before you were born! Same with my children! i was pregnant with my first but when on to have 2 more. give your dad my regards! paula

Yeah that is my father. I was about 2 or 3 when this episode was aired. (I'm 40 now) We were talking about this on 11/12/16 by the Golden Gate Bridge so I decided to look up this show through youtube and found it. It's really surreal, awesome and funny to watch. Side note My Dad said when this aired on TV I was watching this with him and making a lot of double takes at the TV and him in person because I couldn't grasp as 2/3 year old that my Dad could be on TV. Once again thanks for putting this up, it's been a real gas.

This was my favorite game show growing up. I was only a little kid, but I would try to always be home for it. They always did a great job at keeping this show fresh by changing the set or updating the music every season. They even made other changes during the season. The game is also fun. Jack Clark was a great host as well. All of the elements came together to make this a very enjoyable half hour of TV each night. I was so bummed out when it got canceled.

The remake was in 1986 and yes the set changed, but the revised set you mention was during this version's run as it ran for 5 years.

"Cross-Wits" starring Jack Clark was aired on Los Angeles TV station KTTV Channel 11 from December 1975-January 1979 and again from September 1979-August 1980. It was aired on Los Angeles TV Station KNXT Channel 2 from January 1979-September 1979.

That is Jerry Bishop as the announcer. He also later was the early voice of The Disney Channel (when its programming was family oriented before Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez and every talentless teen killed it).

We're just harmless game show fanbots. This is one of those shows that's rare to see. All of the master tapes are lost, so any episode of it that pops up is huge for us. Up until a few years ago, all we had of this show among us was the first 10 minutes of an episode. Your uploading of this episode is a real treat for us.

I'm a game show fan too and LOVE this! :D This SHOULD be around 1975 or so, as there was a revival of this version in 1978 with a slightly updated set.
@PaulaHewitson8 жыл бұрын
this was 1979. I'm sure of it bc I was pregnant with my first child in this episode. he was born 2weeks after this was filmed. it didn't air, though, til a couple months later.

Undoubtedly this show helped inspire the creators of both "Scrabble" and "Password Plus". Cute clues for the crosswords for Scrabble, and clue words to solve a person, place or thing for Password Plus.

Nice to meet you Paula. Happy you won the game, but man, so sorry you and Nipsey blew the Crossfire on one word. RACY was not obvious, but gettable. Good playing anyway.

Ralph Edwards' company didn't have a hand in the 1986-87 version of the show. But Ralph Edwards Productions has a website that has a clip of Crosswits, so they'd have the back tapes of the Jack Clark version supposedly.
@zachhoran12 жыл бұрын
Whammy Heine and I come from the game show internet community. Full episodes of this show are pretty rare(original Jack Clark version) and haven't been seen on TV in probably 30 years(the show was cancelled after 1979-80 and reruns aired in some cities until 1982)
