I took my 11 year old to the last show in Denver and he was spellbound by the intricacy of the seven strings and the power of Brandon's drumming. Riley is simply amazing. The new bass player seems solid. Can't wait to see them again. Thanks to Allegaeon and thank you for posting this. Exactly what I needed this morning!

There was like no one there when I saw them live the first time and I went APESHIT to let them know. I looked like an idiot to the crowd, but the band thoroughly appreciated my effort and told me as much from the stage and after. I remember the old vocalist (Ezra) just saying something along the lines of like "y'all came out here to have fun and you're just standing there bobbing your head. This kid is moshing with himself, c'mon, take notes!"

It would really help the live presence if any of them did back up vocals. I know in bands like this the frontman is always kind of a unique vocal presence but I am sure any of these dudes can throw a growl in there to liven it up a bit and give him room to do longer sections or just to have some layers.

IMO his stage presence is weak, the "conducting the music" with his hands is just silly. For some reason I just get distracted by the head bang with his arm lol the low growls are kick ass though

People tend to listen with their feels and opinions instead of their ears. The multiple screw ups aside, a lot of the arpeggios (as evident on "The Extermination") are simply off time and full of dead notes. It's no shocker given the difficulty of the music they're playing and the fact none of them are full time musicians - just because they can't do it that well doesn't mean they shouldn't try. Sure, I love the band, but I'm not going to let that deafen me! Check out Wintersun if you want to see a band that's truly tight live.
