Thanks for sharing your info and experiences about these mixers. A workaround solution for the phantom power issue would be to not use phantom power on the board at all. Instead, get a separate standalone single or dual channel mic preamp that has phantom power and run your mic through that. Then, run the line level outputs of that preamp into the board.

My background is playing several instruments in bands, being foh for several bands, and working as a recording and mix engineer for the last 30 years. In 2017 I wanted to have a small studio to record and mix my music as well as other bands. I'm not rich so I bought a sig 22, seemed to be the best bang for the buck. I use the Soundcraft with Pro Tools in a hybrid fashion. I've never had the noise problem you have. I did get some efi, but that was just cheap cables. I've had the global phantom power on with tube mics, condensors, and dynamics at the same time with no problems. One thing I did learn, is that you want stable power coming in. I have Cyber power providing a regulated power supply as well as backup power, just in case, don't want to lose a session. I understand your frustation, just think about this. Your system is only as good as your weakest link. Find that and it will get better. I wish you the best, making music keeps me going, I'm 64. I've been recording with the Soundcraft Sig 22 for 7 years and it's never let me down.

Po-Po my Bro-Bro!!! I’m having the same issues but it’s either my Allen & Heath ZED 436 or my Mackie Onyx 1640i I bought so many Mogami cables, I checked the ground, and I checked the house wiring, but I keep hearing that exact sound.

but glad the phantom power did not damage your piano. The Zoom mixer also has phantom power going to multiple channels at same time. Thks for sharing

With all the stuff you have, are you sure you don't have a problem with gain staging?

My Tascam Model 12 is clean with phantom power on, but I do like that soundcraft for tracking out.

I went down the same road finding the mixer I wanted. After having 3 different mixers and then selling them, finally found what I wanted. Mackie 1642 VLZ4. A rather compact mixer with 8 mono channels with Inserts, Main XLR/TRS outs with Inserts and Post Fade/EQ Direct Outs on all mono channels, which will go to my 8-channel audio interface for recording in Studio One while still mixing using the Mackie console faders. 👊

Great video! My brother had to sell a couple of things and I got the Yamaha montage M6 like 2500 bucks new The thing is unbelievable. Are you going to do any tutorials on?

I don’t use ribbon microphones, but I do like the option of phantom power for each channel. Less noise maybe

I have the soundcraft mtk22 and I don’t use the phantom power I have a basic vocal chain with a mic pre and eq and compressor. It’s been very clean for me.

Poli! Hope all is well? Not sure what you’re trying to do with those mixers? But they are great for live sound.. but for studio recordings I wouldn’t touch either one.. if you really want a fat full sound for your music and use a mixer I recommend a ssl six.. if not get your self a daw and a Apollo interface and your life will change.. I use my neve 1073 mic pres on almost all my recordings.. when my clients come in with there mpc I have them run there tracks thru my 1073.. just a lil tip if you want to achieve a better sound with less headaches.. I also have a neve master compressor and it’s a big part of my sound.. hope this helps? Have a good day..

I've been looking into that Apollo for sure. Looks really cool and i'm learning about the connections As far as a mixer, I'm probably go away A. Nice old analogboard, with no usb at all, But I've only heard good things about that big 6.

Yeah I bet that mixer sounds amazing
@enrock66836 ай бұрын
I would sell both of those mixers and fuck a mixer.. get the Apollo x8 or x16.. you can record using the uad plugins and they have great emulators you can record with and get a high quality sound.. get a decent patchbay so you can connect everything easy.. uad make the best plugin emulators you can record with and will blow away most of those mixers..

Im listening ill Definitely looking to that Apollo. I'd like to go out of a really nice mixer. Into some analog gear then into the apollo.eventually

Get your self some mic pres like 1073 or api.. they will work better than any mixer unless you are using a high end mixer like ssl, neve,api, or trident.. most live sound mixers are gonna have noise.. just my advice..
