20:45 - spot on about transition moments. We're not yet on a digital board (please!) but, as a more liturgical church, have an awful lot of transition moments. Looking at last week's running order, we transitioned from pastor to band, or vice versa, ten times in the course of the service. And then other transitions *between* speaking mics. Those are always where the minor blemishes occur.

Yeah that's tricky. Does your board have groups or VCAs? Those could be helpful for fading in/out different things.

@@AttawayAudio Yeah, we've got one sub-mix to play with, which does help a little. The whole setup isn't really geared up for how we're now using the building and our current musical style.

Great video! Yes, I love the sq series. I personally prefer mix groups over dca on my "control layer "especially for drum and gtr, for the very reason that gives one last places to control my compression and eq before I send to my main L/R

I often assign groups to DCAs on my sq5. Best of both worlds.

That's a great way to do it! I've run into a problems with less-experienced volunteers getting tripped up by group compression, so it's not my first recommendation.

One technical note, the IP address rules are a bit more complex, but for the usual usecase make sure that the same numbers are used for all fields where the subnet mask, in your case its 255.255.255.0, so the first THREE numbers need to match. Oh and do not use 0 or 255 for the last number as this wont work ;)

Hello. I want to mix several guitars into the SQ5 and they all have jack cables! The SQ5's input jacks are XLR. How do I proceed in this situation? The Qu-16 has both XLR and Jack, why did they drop it on the SQ5?

You need a DI, or a direct box. That converts the signal from high-impedance and unbalanced to low-impedance and balanced. You'll get more top end from your guitars, and the mic cables can go on longer runs without picking up noise.

The only this that bugs me about this console so far is the scribble strip. if the SQ5 still supports waves SoundGrid card then its the sweet spot for compact mixers.

Oh no, you skip the most important part that I want to learn, the Outputs. How do you set it up with the stage box and how do you make buses, and matrix, also the cross over for speakers and subs. Also the out put for inear. Thank you, James.

The FX sends do not have EQ on them, but the FX unit itself has a Parametric EQ, and most of the FX units have filters that are very useful.

@@AttawayAudioI’m moving from Presonus SL iii to A H SQ5 for technical reasons. Mostly due to network and expansion cards. I can’t seem to find video on the SQ/waves superrack performer or Live professor setups. On the Studiolive I could not send signal to superrack and return in to the same champ when using NSB stage boxes. I wonder if AH SQ does things differently before I make another investment.
