Webber by this time knees were completely shot. I noticed in the highlights he settled for alot of outside jumpers. Jim O'Brien for his efforts was fired after this his only season of returning the sixers back to the playoffs. Webber and Iverson apparently didn't like him and clueless GM Billy King seemed happy to accommodate them.
@danthomas91702 жыл бұрын
He was still a very high IQ player, a brilliant passer and a competitor who you could trust to knock down a clutch basket down the stretch of a close game, but he was not even a shell of the great player that lead Sacramento on all those deep runs through the western conference playoffs. To expect him to be able to carry a team on a finals run as a high usage co-"star" player was incredibly dumb, but of course the Sixers have always been lead by idiots in the front office (with the exception of that "Process" fellow that orchestrated the drafts for Embiid and Simmons). Any casual fan could see that Webber's knees were blown out, and that he had no bounce off the floor, he was a defensive liability who couldn't elevate, did not protect the rim, and most of all, that he would struggle to defend the new style of perimeter "stretch-4" that teams around the league were featuring, players like Shawn Marion or Dirk Nowitski or Rashard Lewis. Also I know this was before "analytics" and "stats" and all that but his high-post offensive game predicated around long-twos was very inefficient and made him a curious choice to pair with a high volume scorer in Iverson. Webber was one of the least efficient high-usage players in the NBA during his time in Philly. In 2006 his offensive usage rate of 27.7% with a True Shooting of 48.2%...the team finished with a losing record IIRC. For reference, out of all Qualified NBA players who played the full 2005-2006 season, only Zach Randolph used more possessions (28.8%) with lower efficiency (48.3%)...and out of all players in the NBA over 25% usage, only Tracy McGrady (49.4%), Webber, Randolph, Baron Davis (48.9%), and Bobby Jackson (49.7%) were below 50%. Iverson lead the team with a 35.8% usage rate on 54.3% TS, while role players Iguodala (59.8%) and Korver (57.7%) were very efficient in low usage roles.

@MentalStillness4 жыл бұрын
The closest player he had to a Superstar teammate was Jerry Stackhouse but yeah it sucked seeing AI, Vince Carter and Tmac go so hard but the GM's failed to put a competitive team around them.
@moeschizlac4 жыл бұрын
Iverson had Jerry Stackhouse, Jim Jackson, and Derrick Coleman during his second year in the league. During other years with Philly he had Toni Kukoc, Matt Harpring, Keith Van Horn, Glen Robinson, Chris Webber, Vernon Maxwell, Bruce Bowen, and Brian Shaw. The Sixers organization don't keep their core players and constantly move players in and out of Philly. Iverson suffers chemistry issues due to that reason. How can Iverson win a ring with bad chemistry? Iverson left to Denver because he disliked how the organization treated him.
@marvinallen71174 жыл бұрын
@@moeschizlac once again in Philly he never had a superstar player to pair up with
@blueblur23293 жыл бұрын
@@marvinallen7117 He never had a superstar player because he was hard to play with which is a common trait for most high volume perimeter scorers. Stackhouse asked out of Philly because he didn't like playing with A.I. Felt he shot the ball too much. C-Webb also didn't like playing with A.I. but he C-Webb wasn't the same after the knee injury even though he did still average 20. That's why they realized they had to surround him with guys who didn't care about shooting the ball. That's really the only time they had success which was when he was surrounded by a bunch of defensive guys. Once they started putting offensive guys back in the line-up again it didn't work. Just like when he joined Anthony in Denver and it didn't work.
