No. Melo with Billups as a sidekick brought the Lakers to 6 games 1 or 2 years later. They had a well-balanced squad mixed with offense and defense with a legitimate PG in Chauncey running the show. Oh, and that Lakers team went on to win Orlando in the Finals. THAT'S Melo's best shot, not the years with Iverson.

KayJayA7X The reason Billups was better for the Nuggets was because he was a legit floor general. The coaching was so poor that a guy like Billups got them much closer because of his on floor leadership. Had the Nuggets had a better coach, they would have made, at the very least, a few finals appearances with the talent they had during Karl's tenure.

It is, but if Iverson in today’s era would be a more dangerous and efficient scorer. The degree of difficulty on his shots was unreal, a couple of open 3’s really would have opened up the lane, and 2/6 on a 3 pointers is the same as 3/6 shooting. Also iverson would have been at the line much more, defenders have to close out on him - and no one is going to be able to stay in front of him. The threat of the 3 would free him up for open mid range shots all day.

Can you imagine if Iverson were taller with that ball control and his crazy ability to finish at the rim? Omg
@Armennii
@Armennii 6 жыл бұрын
Spook It's not even that. It's the fact that he never really had a good team to play on. He never had backup shooters who could finish when he would get double teamed. Perfect example would be the 2001 finals and even this game. Dude scores 51 and they lose smh.
@Xuzial
@Xuzial 6 жыл бұрын
You completely missed the entire point of my comment. But instead responded with something I'm aware of, and heard over and over and over again, and actually watched that entire series live. I've watched Iverson since college. The only thing that kept his career alive, was his offense, he was always a liability on defense. In order to compensate, HE HAD TO drop 40-50 in that series to keep them alive. I agree, they could've added better pieces, but he still would be a defensive liability regardless. Now imagine a 6'6 Iverson, but with the same speed, ball control, but now he has a wider wing span, and can play against taller shooting guards. It would've made a significant difference. To me, he's the best pound for pound player I've ever seen. But his defense was garbage, Iverson even said so himself, he did not play defense. All you had to do was watch the games, and you could clearly see that. Hence my comment.
@Armennii
@Armennii 6 жыл бұрын
Spook Are you dumb? He lead the nba in steals 3 years in a row lol thats amazing defense right there. His defence was underrated asf.
@Xuzial
@Xuzial 6 жыл бұрын
You might want to ask yourself if you're the dumb one after pulling the "Steals" card . He averaged 2.2 steals per game throughout his career which is great. Here's a fun fact..In a game of basketball, there's about 100 possessions. He can't block, nor contest shots for the remaining 98 or so possessions. Defense = forcing turnovers, keeping your opponents FG% low, blocking shots, keeping your opponent out of the lane, forcing bad shots, and of course getting steals. Most of Iversons steals came from playing the passing lane, or slapping the ball out of a power forwards hand after he picks up the dribble. If I were a SG, I'd much rather have Iverson guarding me instead of someone like say Tony Allen, Bruce Bowen, or Jimmy Butler for example. To put that into perspective, Bruce Bowen never averaged over 1 steal per game throughout his entire career, yet he's 8x all-nba defense. I wonder why? Could it be because he made every possession difficult for the man he had to guard? Please, don't call people dumb, I'm not here to argue with a random kid on the internet, I'm just giving an unbiased view.

These nuggets teams were probably the best rosters AI ever was on in his career, and they still were flawed and not championship level. Maybe if AI was in his prime the nuggets might have won a chip or two but this was near the end of his career and he had already dealt with a ton of injuries up to this point. A.I. learned so much from MJ and Kobe learned from both. Conclusion: A.I. is tje best after MJ and Kobe a third one. Iverson destroyed Kobe hands down. Kobe looked A.I. like ”Man, this Guy is just unstoppable..."

@@t-god2439 I agree. He had a ton of talent in Denver, but besides the one year they went to the WCF he never really took the team as far as he should have.

@@owenjohnson469 he had a ton of talent in Seattle. Which I can understand losing in the finals against Jordan. But with Gary Payton, one of the best point guards of all time. You only make one finals? He had a great team with the bucks and they never made the finals. He coached Demarcus cousins and couldn’t get anywhere. Dude had had so much talent and won so little

@@t-god2439 he seemed like like he struggled understanding rotations. Just like this game, he subbed at terrible times. Iverson should have had 60 here. He basically stopped running any offense through Iverson. I just looked it up. This game Iverson wasn’t sat it was worse. Carl literally stopped running anything through him. He had 49 through 3 quarters and Carl starts running everything for Melo, even though Iverson was 17-23 for 49 at that point.

Ai, Melo, JR none of them has the defense and they also do not sacrifice for each other. Especially Ai has the limitations for the defense, you know the defense meaning for playoff. Melo only cares his point. Not surprisedly, they did not go very far

He Is A Original Mo Town player !!Were Every Second Counts And If The Ball would Come To You,Points Were Coming Up Next, He Needed better help then a young melo and a tipsy jr Smith, when he was with the Nat's he was missing a couple pieces, he played more then a team player plays teamwork, he would give his team a chances but when they were down he had to pick up the teams slag,when he had iggu he was still young with not too much experience ,he was great just needed a better scouting in the backroom
