and i get that it's a kendrick lamar lyric and how "effective" the word is but i just wish you didn't say b!tch and even more wish you didn't make your backup singers sing it. even if you're criticizing it's use (and i don't think you are) you're still perpetuating the negative connotation associated with all things feminine in our society (and unfortunately, so are women who still use the word in a negative way). in my humble opinion. otherwise, great song and great message. so close to perfection. you could always change it in the future. you have several lyrics "wrong" on your own page somehow that already need changing. what's a few more? may i suggest "dick"? or maybe just nothing. a breath. a grunt. no need to unnecessarily genderize. :)

In my opinion, one of the best compliments can be paid to an artist is that the songs sound better live than on the recordings. That is not to say that they do not sound good on the record but the live performance elevates the music to a higher level. Allen fits that bill. When I saw him live, I was not aware of who he was and had not heard his music. As soon as the first note came out of his mouth, I was hooked! Can't wait to see him again! All the best and keep making great music!

Best singer discovered these last 10 years. I am totally addict to the album and in particular to this song. Allen Stone is not here just to make money like the other singers in this new generation. In each of his songs, Allen Stone tells us what he learned in his life, and there is always a morality. I look forward to see him perform in France. Thank you Allen ❤

ENDLESS JUNE Don't get me wrong... a LOT if not in fact the majority of new singers are no in the game to make money... you are, with all due respect, being played by the system to make you believe that the singers you hear ar the radio represent the new generation. As a musician from the nee generation, I can tell you first hand that 99% of us are : - Sick as HELL from the traditiobal industry which is hopefully dying - Fucking exicted by YT and the web in general - BUT wondering how to pay the bills *now* - the problem is debt, not "money will come" it WILL always come if we put in the work, but... profits that is a WHOLE other thing...! Bottom-line : most artists are talented, struggling financially, underexposed even a local levels, YET I hear this constantly : "Look what an exception! Most other singers..." NO. He IS a legeng; his voice IS an exception. His attitude at his level - in fact the level he was around 2012 - is rare too. But PLENTY of artists deserve this.

New fan here from American Song Contest. I'm a hard rock/alternative rock/metal guy, but I love Allen's music. Incredibly written and performed music. Stellar voice, too. I have been wearing these albums out the last 3 weeks. There are a lot of classic songs here already.

True... Most people in the U.S don't realize how blessed or rich they are of every race and "cast." It takes seeing the other side of the world to realize the amount of blessing we take for granted. Prospective has taught me a lot and it makes me realize the value of little things. The reality of the term riches and wealth on every level. I don't look a gift horse in the mouth anymore especially after seeing the realities of day to day in foreign places that I've been and the many unspeakable horrors that take place far removed from anything that even remotely resembles democracy. I hope that I am not miss understood here because seeing these things are existential realities that will stay with me forever. I laid out a personal vulnerability in a thoughtful way please take that into account before you attack me. I am all to aware of the ignorance of the world and the evils humans are capable of committing. Thank you, great song

Look, all of the people in this comments section bitching about the lyrics are precisely the people that need to hear them. Listen closely...he’s talking about children in foreign counties forced into child labor, sewing his sheets, stitching his sneaks (shoes) when we KNOW that it’s wrong, but continue to turn a blind eye as long as we can get the product cheap. Saying it doesn't feel right that he was born white, parents didn’t fight, said I love you every night is him saying it completely sucks that there are kids that don’t have those things. He’s not apologizing for being white, people, he’s just asking us to think about our “keeping up with the Joneses” society where we care more about materialistic shit than where or how it was made. I’m sick to death of people talking shit about “liberals” and some bullshit media agenda we supposedly have. Being a liberal and simply wanting everyone to treated with respect and dignity is something I will NEVER apologize for. What kind of people WOULDN’T want that?? I think your defensiveness over the lyrics to this song speak volumes about your “American Priviledge”, turning a blind eye, and cold heart.

Was I the only one surprised to learn... he's a white boy? ;-) Go on, white boy! Beautiful, soulful song!!! UPDATE: I later learned that his dad was a preacher, and that Allen began singing in church at the age of 3. So that explains it...why his singing has so much FEELING to it.
