About Austin City Limits
Austin City Limits (ACL) offers viewers unparalleled access to featured acts in an intimate setting that provides a platform for artists to deliver inspired, memorable, full length performances. Now in its 46th Season, the program is taped live before a concert audience from The Moody Theater in downtown Austin. Austin City Limits is the longest-running music series in television history and remains the only TV series to ever be awarded the National Medal of Arts. Since its inception, the groundbreaking music series has become an institution that’s helped secure Austin’s reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World. The historic KLRU Studio 6A, home to 36 years of ACL concerts, has been designated an official Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Landmark. In 2011, ACL moved to the new venue ACL Live at The Moody Theater in downtown Austin. ACL received a rare institutional Peabody Award for excellence and outstanding achievement in 2012.
Austin City Limits is produced by Austin PBS, KLRU-TV and funding is provided in part by Dell Technologies, the Austin Convention Center Department, Cirrus Logic and RigUp. Additional funding is provided by the Friends of Austin City Limits. Learn more about Austin City Limits, programming and history at acltv.com.

Much love to Mr. Toussaint. I finally got to see him live just a few months before he passed, in a small club backed by a four-piece band. His playing and singing were as magical as ever as he ran through all of his hits (including Rhinestone Cowboy!) and also did some cool jazz improv pieces. RIP to a legend.

Allen Richard Toussaint was the heart and backbone of our Black Culture. He was something else. I saw him live in 1976 at The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach California

Allen was a true American gem. I saw him at the Orpheum Theater in Boston in 1975 (I think). He was opening for this "new" band from down south called Little Feat... yes with Lowell George on vocal and slide. Thing was Allen was so good it was a little unfair to Little Feat because he rocked his show so well that the crowd kept calling for more encores (if I remember correctly). My girl friend at the time had sort of stood me up to have a girl night out with her friends planned before I could buy the tickets and surprise her. Took one of her brothers who was a buddy of mine and we had a "wicked pissah time" at that concert. Some of this memory may be slightly tainted as most of the 70's are some of the best times that I'll never remember, but his concert that night I'll always remember.

Little Feat played a bunch of shows in Boston in 1975, including three appearances at The Orpheum. I suspect you may have been at the April 11 performance, if that sounds right. Little Feat and Allen Toussaint shared the bill in DC ten days later on April 21, so that was probably when they were touring together. Sounds like it was a great show. I never had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Toussaint live, but I did see Little Feat in 1973 along with Leon Russell.

I first heard this song at LACMA Jazz Concert in Los Angeles. A trio of women sang it & inspired me. I then heard the Pointer Sisters version. Finally Mr. Toussaint's version (He wrote it). Great song. Thank you Mr. Toussaint and God Bless you.

I wish I had known of this amazingly talented man before he passed away. I only learned of his music through ACL's rebroadcast in Feb 2021 of this incredible performance. I've watched this episode over and over in the last few weeks. I would gladly buy a DVD of it but unfortunately ACL doesn't have one of this episode for sale. Maybe they will someday. It is wonderful!

Love it! I choreographed a routine for my aerobics class using the P.S. version. So many great artists have covered Allen's songs. Pointer Sisters, Boss Scaggs, Jimmy Buffett, Lee Dorsey...and, I can't forget Ernie K. "Mother-in-law" Doe. What an amazing artist! R.I.P. Allen.
