The Muse is it's own thing. I've started making some actual music with mine yesterday, and it's just a dream to work with. All the sounds fit in the mix so easily, and when it all comes together it sounds marvellous :)

@ I agree! For the most part, the muse has the spirt of the minimoog

@@payt01 I agree! It takes some time to learn its strengths. Used it on a song I’m almost done with. Worked beautifully.

I can’t tell them apart and need both! ❤ Should probably ask 12 cents discount and admit I’m a moogacholic when get my Muse 😂 Can’t wait to finish some work at work, get Muse, and deep dive into baby making music. Thanks for moogalicious sounds and entertainment, Allen!

Nice vid! Got a Minimoog here I love it. Wish I could afford a Muse also! What’s that track in the vid during your wrap up? Thanks

@@fogbongler minimoog love, it sounds more pleasing to my ears. You can tell if you listen to the resonance. The track is an instrumental I made

@@AllenMichaelI always find this take interesting, because outside of the audio world, people like SMD because it’s significantly easier to repair if you have the right tips. I would say it’s a lot more difficult to trace a multi layer SMD PCB without a schematic though.

Fun comparison. There are definitely subtle differences here where the Minimoog sounds a little thicker, especially on filter sweeps (of course, you can't throw the Minimoog into unison and instantly get 8 voices of GNAR with the push of a button either 😝) I'm hopeful the tuning issues will be resolved with firmware updates soon. I've done a full tune 2X so far. I never owned a Model D, but I'm about two months in with my Muse and it just keeps unfolding. The dual filters and mod osc are game changers and really straight out of the modular playbook. That's not even counting the ridonculous generative arp and sequencer possibilities.) And, yes, most of the patches I've made so far are performance-oriented splits - from Zawinul to Banks and everything in between. It's just too much fun.

The lows on the Model D are much louder. Muse is cutting off lows for sure, but to be honest if it didn’t, it would just be a muddy mess with the poly. Also if I’m mixing the Model D with any other instruments, I’m probably high passing that anyway. The Muse has a great presence. I think they compliment each other well, but the Muse is clearly significantly more capable.

You obviously used a Minimoog reissue (with MIDI). Would be interesting if a vintage Model D made a greater difference.
@AllenMichael
@AllenMichael 26 күн бұрын
@@RayyMusik yeah. I think. I’ve played a few vintage ones and I think they have a bit more charm. So the mini reissue , I like because it’s thru hole ! Not the smd stuff. I like thru hole because it CAN be repaired. Better investment :-)

Muse sounds very meh and generic compared to the Mini which is obviously a reissue that sounds very meh compared to an original mini, multi, sonic vi, etc. The Muse should be a $1500 synth.
