Again, thanks for another awesome video. That lost lake is pure artful skill. Gota love early Archaic blades. Think you matched material and point type very well. Lost Lakes seem to be made of many good working, beautiful materials from their range. Fantastic work Patrick 👏 😮😊

Buffalo rive is Fort Payne chert that comes from the buffalo river area. When I lived in Tennessee I lived right on the buffalo river and I worked tons of this chert, it was everywhere on my property. It can come in a multitude of colors and patterns with spots, swirls, bullseyes along with just normal flat colors of gray, tan, blueish, black, mahogany and so many other lighter shades. It is my favorite chert to work and I have worked hundreds of different types of flint and cherts from around the world. It is a very pleasing chert to work raw or heat treated and is some of the best and finest working chert this country has to offer. Thank you Patrick for all the hard work you put into these videos I have watched them all from the first day you started. Very nice point and one of my favorites types. Keep up the good work it has to be helping many new and old knappers alike. John Siderio

Even after a few years I often make the same mistake, this video reminded me, you had a few nice platforms in the middle of the point and you avoided them until the end. I see a nice platform in the middle area and I’ve got to take it, therefore I end up with two small points later on. It must my propensity for risk.

Dang man, in 12 minutes you had taken this rock to the point which would have taken me a couple of hours to get to. I'd have called it finished, yet the thickness would have been at least double the thickness of what you had. If you're really good, you can make it look so easy. You make it look easy. It's not easy. Thanks, Keep 'em coming!

Yeah Buffalo River Chert is from Tennessee. Carter Cave is from Kentucky. Im only an hour away from CC. I need try get my lazy behind up that way and search for some. My buddy worked for a fencing company that leases fence railings to Carter Cave. He sent me a few spalls and flakes he found in the Cave and immediate area. Knapps Great.

Ive been knapping some of that Buffalo River too and managed 2 larger (for me) blades that im pleased with. Its some really sweet material. Ive noticed the material just under the cortex is not very cooperative like on some other cherts.

Nice material. The mechanics of flint knapping I understand, but the square edge thing gets me all the time. I know, just keep practicing. But why only square edges. What's the secret. Nice point Pat.

Patrick, the reason we want to see your knapping from out front (Belly Button perspective) is that we want to actually see how much you cheat on the centerline (it’s obvious you do) and how wild some of your angles appear to be. We think it would be educational … and just plain fun?

@KnapperJackCrafty I think maybe it's how you hold the rock and what your fingers on your left hand are doing when you strike. You said it though, it's different for different scenarios. It just comes with doing and that takes time. And you took that piece thinner than I would have felt comfortable trying 😅
