I was in a Mens Doubles 5 string tournament with my dad one year and I got in the zone that day and was averaging 5 marks a string!! I had my day in the sun lol I look at a guy like Tom Olzsta and think "Man that guy was in the zone for like 3 decades" I have been watching and going to candlepin tournaments my whole life and have really never seen anyone as consistent as Tom. Yes I know Paul Berger was great too but Tom was clutch and i just think he was a little more consistent. Tom is the GOAT of candlepin

I am from Oregon and, thanks to the internet, can now blurt out the phrase "half Worcester" and know what I am talking about. What a cool game! Greetings from the "left coast"

When I was in grammar school in Milford NH we went on a class trip to Old Sturbridge Village. I enjoyed the day immensely, especially the freshly baked spice cookies they made. I had two Uncles who both averaged in the 120 range. One was 6'2" tall the other was 5'6". They were brother's in law, and both could fire the ball whether it be a bowling or softball, and both were incredible horseshoe players as well. As a kid I used to go watch whenever I could. They would even arm wrestle once in awhile, and Little Joe held his own. He was a former Golden Gloves fighter too, who's mother only spoke Italian. They had emigrated and Joe's dad was a stone cutter for the granite companies that were humming back in the day. Pete, my mom's brother, was younger, bigger, and an incredible all 'round athlete who went on to become a High School gym teacher and history teacher in Maine. Shows like this help to keep their memories alive.

Tom Olzsta almost got a "Clean Game" in the last string with 8 out of 10 frames with a mark. If he would have got a mark in every frame in that last string, he would have got a "Clean Game".

"Who Don Gillis?" - Tommy M
@johncirillo9544 Жыл бұрын
Don Gillis has won more awards, including Massachusetts broadcaster of the year several times, than any other television sports broadcaster in all of New England. Don has covered the full spectrum of sports events including play-by-play of the Celtics and Bruins. Don Gillis is a legendary voice her in New England. Sadly, Don passed away in 2008.

Tom would've set a new high triple if he hit it before he hit a 483

He would have also got a "Clean Game" in that last string if he got a mark in the first and second frames.
