Lost respect for Diamond D honestly any one thinking my people are trying to colonize something we🇵🇷helped🇵🇷 create. I can't tell u if it's 50/50 but too all out deny Ricans contributions is crazy. While I'm no super Fat Joe fan I can't rock wit this idea that Ricans are "guest in hip hop" and never will. Ricans helped lay some ground work,that's a fact. I think the more important disappointing thing is that we supposed to be unified, Puerto Ricans have African heritage by way..there's no denying that and on the East Coast we all grew up close in the same hoods together all we doing is letting the foul people laugh at us. But hey run with that it's cool just another example of divde and conquer and people can't see further then there local hoods.
@mr.rep_jones290211 күн бұрын
@@goatsquadtv8786You gotta get out of your emotions and accept the reality of the contributions Puerto Rican made to HIPHOP. Non of the contributions was of Latino influence. It was just a bunch of Puerto Ricans doing nigga shit. It’s the same till this day. The only influence is black american. Ruby Dee been stated that he joined The L brothers 3 years after its creation and how he would be the only Puerto Rican in the clubs. FBA’s appreciate the contributions but, let’s be real. It’s been 51 years of HIPHOP and AINT NO WAY ITS BEEN 50/50.

@goatsquadtv8786 by your own words...contribution is completely different than creation. Not equivalent. And living amongst Blacks, doesn't mean you are Black. Diamond D summed it up as easy as can be. He's 100% right. Blacks created hip hop from scratch. If you grew up in certain areas of the Bronx you grew up around Puerto Ricans and we ran together. I like to say " Just because you carried crates don't mean you invented scratching, but you were there". Puerto Ricans were DEFINITELY there, but the concepts and ideas were Black people. I grew up in the Bronx and I'm 61 yrs old. Just stating facts because I was old enough to remember

No we didnt so until they stop trying to claim they helped create it its not going to stop. Either respect it our lose the ability to be in hip hop and get support. If someone comes into your house disrespecting it. Wont you just get along until they see what you saying. Or is it gtfo my house unless you respect my shit? Hip Hop is a Black creation. Everybody else is in fact a guest. We don't give a F if you were born in the bronx. You dont have any say what so ever on changing the history of Hip Hop or its rules.

Great interview and my point below can’t overshadow that. Shout out to all three of you brothers! Respectfully, I think you’re (mustard hat) the one who is getting things misconstrued. The disagreement is not rooted in the “blurred line between conception and participation”. That is not a fact and it’s insulting to the intelligence of the people who were offended by what Fat Joe said in the first place. Fat Joe stated that Hip Hop was started by both Blacks and Puerto Ricans 50/50. Denying the early participation of Puerto Ricans in Hip Hop was never the point of contention. Peace. It’s hard to focus on facts when the point of contention is not clearly understood.

Greetings my good ppl I’m Boricua aka Puerto Rican.. I don’t use the word. And Am instantly put off by ppl who use it that aren’t African American… even straight up Africans don’t come off well using it lol.. it’s a weird thing because ultimately it’s only a word, but considering the historical context I see it as off limits.. and I admittedly used it when I was young, immature and uneducated on the topic I also would like to make a point about people feeling as if they’re losing something when they can no longer use it when I think you’re actually gaining.. when you accept that something that you’re doing could be potentially injuring others and you make a conscious decision to no longer engage in it you grow as a person.. Finally, I also agree that Boricuas were there from the very beginning by default and proximity, but hip-hop music is black music, birthed by black ppl / that have been said.. peace and love to everyone and always Remember the importance of loving and respecting one another regardless of having different perspectives.. 💪🏼🙏🏼 🇵🇷

@Diamond D... Remembering T La Rock working Jazzy J on the first Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin act on with their early Def Jam imprint with the iconic jam "Its Yours." T La Rock's wordplay influenced their young prodigy LL Cool J and LL's I Need A Beat came behind that which has a beat layout very similar to that T La Rock's "It's Yours." It's also ironic that Diamond D's jam "I Went for Mine" with Diamond and The Psychotic Neurotics sampled The SSO's "Faded Lady" which is the same sample Busta Rhymes and DJ Scratch later used on Busta's jam "New York Shit."

As a elder statesman to hip hop. Diamond is 100% right when it comes to the origins of hip hop. Puerto Ricans were there. If you grew up in certain areas of the Bronx, Puerto Ricans were your neighbors and you hung out together, but Black ppl started it. You are right Bruce. Especially on the graffiti side which I don't consider an element of hip hop, because graffiti was in effect long before hip hop started. And even though black started and created break dancing alot of guys, put it to the side to get into DJing and rapping and this is when Puerto Ricans took it to another level. But it was created by Blacks. Puerto Ricans were always there. Just because you have a mic in your hand that doesn't make you an MC.
