This is simply the most consistent, considered, and concise information available on this tragic conflict that is available on the internet. Superb coverage and it’s awful that such credible journalism is having to be used to cover such an awful state of affairs but the quality of journalism is simply second to none and no other news agency is covering the situation with the level of professionalism that this channel is providing.

The argument about medals is a gray slope. I was in Desert Storm, went from Saudi Arabia, into Kuwait and then into Iraq. But I was so far behind the front line that I was never in any danger. So in that case, is it fair that I got the same medals as people who were firing weapons and under fire? And there were plenty of people way behind me who got the same medals. I think it is hard to draw a line...

Interesting about medals and drone operators, I never thought about it but if I was a country and drones were deployed against me I would see UK locations as legitimate targets, without me seeing it as an attack on the UK per se. If we give these guys campaign medals then that just gives me justification in my view. So my thought is, I could attack these points legitimately in the UK and US without declaring war on that country as this location is just an extension of the battlefield. What are your thoughts?

Actually in terms of artillery rounds we can't do more. No western country currently has a munitions factory capable of 6,000 155mm rounds per day. The best that can be done is a collective effort to run the factories as fast as possible and draw down stocks. Both measures have risks. The reality is western military planners have grossly under estimated the amount of artillery rounds needed in modern warfare. That quantity has a quality of its own is surely is an important lesson from this conflict.
@davidboskett5581
@davidboskett5581 Жыл бұрын
The Russians might be using many more artillery rounds than Ukraine but I doubt that they can produce enough to maintain their current usage. The Western alliance has the ability to far out-produce the Russians for all the military hardware needed -it just takes the will and the money to do it.And all Nato members should be obliged to share equally in this task.But lets face it most of the artillery rounds are wasted by both sides as shown by the pock marks in Ukrainian fields. Nato needs to supply Ukraine with more precision weapons with a longer range so that ammunition stores can be targeted well into Russia.

I think this is the main reason to hold steady, and let time pass with the lowest possible casualities, so that the west can keep adding ammunition factories. We also have to consider China as a threat and be ready to deal with other fronts should it occur.

Forces members based on Ascension Island during the Falklands war received a medal, although they were based on a tropical Island 4000 miles away, while those who got to the Falklands one week too late, and had no beds or accommodation, & few supplies got nothing. So why not a drone operator at Waddo?.

It's my opinion that the soldiers that are fighting this war from afar, particularly the ones that control our war drones, need to be recognized for their accomplishments. I'm sure that these soldiers understand that they are not playing a video game, and real people are at risk every time they pull the trigger. The ones that have to take the lives of the innocent to kill the Enemy must have a heavy heart, but sometimes it necessary in war, infact it happens almost every day in war. These actions will have life long effects on the operator, so yes they do deserve accomodations.

Armenia is trying to assert some kind of independence. The core of liberalism in the government should be supported , as probably there’s pressure being put on them. Since Armenia is not a member of NATO and it is clear the U.S. and the U.K. did not protect Ukraine from Russia via the terms of the Budapest Agreement, and other European countries did not allow Georgia and Ukraine to join NATO, after which first Georgia was invaded and then Ukraine... TWICE, I think it would be wise for Armenia to wait until Russia is completely weakened before they assert independence, unfortunately. We do not need another Armenian massacre. I have no doubt Armenia will be independent from Russia as soon as it is wise for them to do so. Therefore they should not join the ICC. There is no way they can arrest Putin without serious repercussions. Unless we let them into NATO immediately. That's not happening.

With respect to remote drone operators, they statistically suffer as much or more PTSD and other issues as other types of service members. When an F-16/F-18 pilot conducts an airstrike, he flies over the target quickly, fires missiles/drops jdams and then he's out of there in seconds. When a drone operator does a strike, he's watching the 5arget for hours before and after said strike. They have to watch the results of their carnage for hours on HD screens. Injured people crawling out of vehicles and bleeding on a street, family members showing up to a strike and taking away their family members. Then they clock out and have to think of the consequences in the supermarket where nobody 3lse is aware of whats going on.

I see many people laughing to Russians sending old equipment on front line . Here is TOP Serbian Generals comment about that: "Russia puts T-55 tanks into service. This is the most gruesome message to the NATO pact and the most gruesome message to the world since the use of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The T-54 tank does not have a PNZ coating on it, a coating that protects the crew from nuclear radiation. The T55 tank has that lining inside the tank. All subsequent tanks created in the territory of the USSR (and M84) also have that lining. All tanks have devices for filtering and ventilating the air, creating overpressure in the tank to protect against the entry of irradiated air, etc. The T55 tank and all the subsequent tanks have PNZ coating (anti-nuclear protection), but the T55 tank is a Serbian story. Its electronics are dominated by electron tubes, triodes, tetrodes, pentodes, hexodes, etc., in the stabilizer of the STP-2 Zyklon gun and in the R123 radio station, or in older versions of the T55 radio station R113. In all Soviet tanks, a nuclear strike wipes out all software from the tank's electronics, fire control navigation system, radio equipment, and other tank electronics. And the tank becomes pile of iron standing on the battlefield. A stationary target. A nuclear strike cannot erase any software from a T-55 tank, because the tank doesn't have any. In the event of a nuclear attack, all tanks stop, and only the T-55 tank continues its mission. Without any problems. A very clear message. We will drop the atomic bomb. A clear message. Armageddon.The R-123 radio device, along with other types of devices, selects channels through gears, which means that in the event of a nuclear bomb explosion, the electromagnetic shock, which some call an impulse, cannot cause damage to the assets. Anti-nuclear chemical protection of the tank with filters enables the use of the tank even after a nuclear explosion. Anyone else from shovel laughter groups still laughing ? No?! Guess so...I want this war to stop now. Only morons cheer for any side in this conflict..... Stupid and sick west colonial minds....

The artificial distinction about whether drone operators deserve campaign medals is a tempest in a tea-pot. Going back to Vietnam, there were thousands of officers and men who were serving in Vietnam and got combat pay, but were serving support & logistics roles in rear area bases and in Saigon where they were almost totally safe. They certainly never went anywhere near a combat situation. And front line grunts called them REMFs. So, this isn't anything new.

I feel sorry for listeners who rely on this podcast ...its pathetic to say the least

Unlike the Wagner Convict Brigade, there are no accredited NATO fighters in Ukraine - there are no NATO fighters committing war crimes in Bucha. Your post Scorpion is just nonsense - in fact a reflection of the propaganda that eminates from the Mafia controlled building called the Kremlin. Make no mistake Scorpion - The failed Mafia State known as Russia must and will be defeated by Ukraine with Western support. There is no alternative for a peaceful Europe.

Sure. Wasting so many lives on negligible territorial gain, that is going to be legendary.

5% of the US military budget to save a country from genocide is a great deal. Though it's actually probably less, since we save on having to upkeep the mothballed hardware, and paying to have someone safely dispose of it. Your talking points are crude and obvious, botski.

May I suggest the following pronunciations: Kyiv----"kayeew" not "keeiv" Avdiivka---"avdeeyeevka" ---the second i is a "yee" ------not "avdeevka" Vuhledar----"voohhhledar"---the H should be pronounced---not "vuledar" Donetsk in Ukrainian is "donetsk"---in RuZZian it is "donyetsk".
