If using stormshroud, you only need to cap avoid shock to cap all elemental ailments....you get avoid shock at about twice the numbers from avoid elementals. You would want to use essence of torment on boots to get up to 60% chance to avoid being shocked. The remaining 40% avoid shock can be obtained from either searing implicit or a single jewel.

I have such a love/hate relationship with how much this game wants out of me. You did an excellent job with your written notes on this build. No stone is left unturned, and everything that could cause a non-experienced player into an existential crisis, by going broke on the wrong equipment, you make sure has heft. Double Strike too. It got one of the highest buffs 140% to 409% and with ashes of the stars you will get 50% quality on it and that means 50% chance to deal double damage and lvl 22 with 440%. my build in PoB does 60m dps with max block+ spell block and 6k life and that without cluster or somthing and only need round about 20 divines

another question from me. I've seen that Palsteron also has a Warden LS Build Guide and I'm currently comparing both builds. What I found that he isn't using the scorch ascendancy, but instead using the freeze one. In the comment-section I found someone addressing this. Not sure if he know's what he is talking about but maybe you can clarify it. "You would need a large fire damage hit for that (6 million fire damage without ailments scaling) to scorch for 30%. A fast hitting build will not be able to reliably apply any meaningful scorches." Thanks for the good guide and how much time you put into it!

We are never assuming a 30% scorch on bosses and are only assuming a 15% which is reasonable. On white mobs we will do 30% scorches which greatly helps with clear. Oath of Winter is practically useless in this build as we have such a large cold hit that we will pretty constantly freeze mobs anyways, by default we get ~60-70% of the effect of Winter for free. Nothing will live 2 seconds and it isint worth giving up summer for "maybe sometimes winter does something useful." The only place where it will really shine is on bosses where youd realistically be able to get decent uptime on the boss being frozen which reduces its action speed by 50%. I personally dont find much value in this as you will have so much burst dps on a boss, the reduced action speed isint going to make or break you living vs you just killing the boss faster with summer.

I really like your detailed guide, one of the best you can find right now, especially with the leveling element. But I’m afraid of several things: 1) leveling up with Rain of Arrows, right up to act 10, and not respec earlier 2) A lot of crafting 3) That all the things for this build will be expensive :(

I'm not exactly sure why you are afraid to leveling to act 10 with roa. You can most likely respec earlier if you wish to, but for the sake of consistency, I decided to go to maps before swapping to make it as comfy as possible. It also allows you to do heist with roa if you choose to. This really isn't a lot of crafting, and it is optional for people who want to. You can just go buy everything from trade and ignore it, but, as a way to improve my guides even more, I've added crafting guides for what I consider to be important items. Lastly, everything will be fine in terms of cost. Fractured claws will be more expensive, but the rest of the gear is default gear. Any build would use with nothing specialized for this build, especially this early into the build. Even with fractured claws being more expensive, it is difficult for them to be worth too much money due to how common they are and how many bases are valid for crafting. It is very easy to settle for something slightly worse and save a lot of money if everyone just does the same thing.

As someone who is terrible about remembering to activate things semi periodically, do you think a variant of this build that uses Oath of Winter instead of Enduring Suffusion would be viable? I've always liked the way freezing feels, and the 2 second minimum seems pretty awesome, and seems like it could be a nice additional layer of defenses for bossing and more rippy maps.

Yeah it would be fine, it would just give up a sizable chunk of your power as tinctures especially on warden are looking very strong. The tincture would only have to be used ~every 15 seconds or so and, given we drop our life flask in a more midgame setup, would remove 1 button to press. With that said, oath of winter is fine too and it will sitll be very strong without a tincture.

GJ good build, but maybe i have 2 hints. and i will hate me for that later because i will play warden double strike but well who cares. #1 go for FB at start, its way better for Acts just swap LS for Bosses and place it in second weapon slot to lvl it. #2 and thats very important i guess.... go for "Stormcharger" Boot's, im not sure about it but if im correct you will need "increased Duration of Lightning Ailments" because shocks only last for 2 seconds and you would need 25 attacks per second to go for the 50 shocks. Even with duration on the Ascendancy you have max 2.6 [30% or 0.6] seconds with EW [20% or 0.4] (Quality) you will get 3.0 and with this boots [100% or 2.0] you will get 5.0 and only need 10 attacks per seconds... we will see if its needed but early should it be perfect to get the 50 stacks very ez oh and #3 pls dont buy the boots if needed i need them too XD Edit: yes i read the Notes but i think you dont need to go for the early Bow Build to speed run the Acts anymore... Frost Blades and Frost Bomb should do it now ez... just dual wield and use leap slam + flame dash or just use shield charge to move with second weapon slot. it should be fast enough and you dont need to reskill too

Dual Wielding doesnt give you extra dps in this game outside of the innate 10% more attack speed youd have. You alternate between weapons for attacks meaning youd need to have 2 good weapons for no upside. 1H + Shield is pretty much always better in every situation.

You think OG lightning strike is better than of arcing? I really love arcing fir clear its really great. And woth claws you get +1 proj cluster and the passive also dying sun would make up the proj. Also i thought tamming was not neing i plimented at league start as per GGG but idk for sure.

Normal LS will be just as good if not better than Arcing for launch. We will eventually start using Arcing for some content when we have "fuck you" levels of dps as it will provide slightly better clear. Some people will sweat that Arcing is better but from all of last season of playing an LS Amour Stacker in t17, I can tell you the difference is very very minor while normal LS's raw damage wins out in amost every situation to start with.

Warden will have higher boss damage due to its all of its strong nodes it has to aid with single target while champ/slayer will be tankier to start off. I personally think its easier to go warden which "solves" dps and focus on ehp vs going champ/slayer that will have balanced dps and ehp. Warden should still feel just fine and be somewhat tanky early on with our ability to push its maxhit in the mid and endgame easy to do. Id say they are honestly equal and it would be best to pick based on what youd like to keep playing later into the season.

Shield crush is actually going to be very very strong pos buffs. People dont like it due to how it plays and how youd need to overlap but it will be strong. You could also maybe look into bleed sst as an alternative as I think a few creators are looking into that. Either way, crush shouldnt be bad and feel as strong as it used to a few seasons ago when it was meta.

Drop Caustic Arrow, Mirage Archer, Pierce. You just need Frostblink, Sniper's Mark, Galvanic Arrow, Precision. But Mirage Archer is still in use in Act2 skills.

The rings and belt are for act 1 as it will boost your caustic hit dps and burning arrow dps. Post act 1 you can use any jewelery, ideally finding some with added ele. The portion about removing gems is to specifically mention which main skills aren't required anymore.

I'm really sorry to comment here so much, but I still have some thoughts left. In the pob notes, you say that the playstyle after the LS swap is moving with Shield charge and frostblink, but there is no frostblink in the LS setup. Don't you recommend playing with any kind of blink or just forget to adding it? Another thing, what do you think about dual claw wielding early on, like until red maps or you see that you need more defense. Or is the damage more than enough with one?

Wow, im so sorry, idk how I managed to forget adding frostblink in. Luckily we had extra sockets open so its not an issue but wow, I cant believe I never noticed its not in there, thanks for catching that. Another thing I didnt really touch on, you dont need to use charge + blink, its just my personal favorite movement set. Using Flame Dash or Whirling Blades is also fine. Also for dual wielding, its actually pretty bad in PoE. The only benefit is 10% more attack speed and thats it. You alternate between weapons when doing an attack while dual wielding meaning that youd need 2 good claws otherwise your dps is just lower than attacking with 1. A shield with an attack speed roll on it will usually be just as good and, given it lets you also put res/life on it, just makes the build better + you get to use shield charge.

@@Alliee oh wow I didn't know that the dmg stat get ignored when dual wielding. So it would probably only be worth when going Ambidexterity+ mastery for 60% increased dmg when dualwield with two different weapons, but then you only have one claw while you having the claw nodes. Thanks always for the fast and informative replies. PS: I'm thinking about either still Playing RoA or swapping to LS when doing the heist farming? What are you gonna do?

Im personally going to skip Heist, ive done it too many times and want a break. Heist is 100% optional but I do include it in there as I highly recommend it for newer / more casual players / people not worried about being in t16 in .0001 seconds and just want a comfy time. If you were to do heist, id recommend just sticking to roa as youll alreayd have thhe gear for it and it should be fine + it will kinda hit the whole room in each contract. You can swap to LS but I think just instantly starting it with RoA might be faster just to get it out of the way

Really wanna try this, but my main concern in every league is dying in high end content. My builds are always doing enough damage, but are really squishy. Cant decide between Warden or a tanky Glad bleed variation build :) 4 days of dilemma. Anyways, thank you for the guide!

Well, this build isint going to be suishy as I refuse to play the classic zhp paper builds most people prefer. I will stay away from every build that I dont think I can make tanky as I too also dont enjoy squishy builds. In the midgame for this, we will do ultimatum shield + lethal pride + fourth vow and have a setup thats comparable to my endgame SS Trickster with plenty of space to make it tankier from there.

Sorry for the late reply, the double hitting is mostly for bosses where they tent to stand still. You will still do it every now and then on some rares but it shouldnt be as necissairy on anything but bosses.

Yeah, unfortunately with Bash I just couldnt put out a guide I was going to be happy with. It was going to be a bit clunky and have some issues that probably woudve made it a killer for people due to the gear requirements. It was just a case of, hard to play ear;y/midgame and its mostly an endgame build you go into with lp on your items already.

Fire Damage that crits innately will have a 100% chance to ignite which is converted into chance to scorch. We are a crit build and we will push to 100% crit chance, so we will always have 100% chance to ignite basically.

I dont think youd end up playing RoA to a 6 link unless you go do heist as you really dont need that good of a claw to start LS but, Ele Damage with Attacks as a 5th and Faster Attacks as a 6th would work.

Think im gonna start this. It will for sure be a great mapper but i hope we can scale it to do bosses pretty quickly. I dont like long fights and want to be able to kill conqs just seconds after they spawn.

With Omni in a more midgame setup it should be able to do that easily. I focused super heavily on defences as I personally like tankier starters than playing the meta 2hp LA bow cuck kinda build. With that said, this pob is at ~1.5m dps which is ~2.7m dps with double hitting & it will be increased by ~80% to 4.9m dps with the LS buffs alone. Add in pressing Avatar of the Wilds & a bunch of shocks and you can asily hit ~10m burst dps for 10 seconds. Id say thats pretty damn good for now and it will kill conqs/guardians quickly enough. We can then add in omni later on & if the new returning proj enchant can be put on claws, thats another 100% more damage modifier. Finally, if you stack vaal lightning strike w/ avatar of the wild, that would give you ~60% more dps for a few seconds. Its safe to say that this build will be able to burst bosses in a few seconds once you get into the midgame.

Yeah, I was originally going to include oath of winter as part of the guide with a swap to tinctures later but decided to start the guide with tinctures. It seems like a pretty damn goos defensive layer esp on bosses as it will be 50% less action speed with decent uptime. From a bit of testing, i did find i ended up freezing quite a lot while clearing by default just with added cold and crit chance so I dont think it will be super super insane on more "normal" maps but it should feel very good in t16 deli mirror for example.

I'm intrigued by going lightning strike as league starter BUT there is the new ransom mechanic where you need to fight off bosses. So perhaps a build that is a bit stronger vs bosses is better?

No as this build will easily deal with bosses too. While its not meant to be a bosses, it will have better max hits than most builds to beging with it scaing to 110k+ ele max hit relatively quickly and decent dps. With all of the buffs to LS and w/ Warden's dmg amp of Avatar of the Wild, we can easily hold 7m DPS or ~11m burst dps for 10 seconds which given how budget the gear is, is going to feel fine. You can also swap to Molten Strike with 1 simple gem swap given they use the same gems and do ~60m DPS if high single target dps ie ever needed.

It's been brought up a few times over the past few days and I honestly really like the idea of it. Its about the same dps as WED while being a massive dps increase on bosses given it would allow us to go form 30 shocks consistently to ~50 or so. I'll most likely make an update on this today/tomorrow.

I honestly dont know. Delve got deleted this season with GGG cleaving every meta delve build out of excistance. The current runner ups post-carnage are str stacking ms of zenith & a few others. I might try them out and see how they feel but, I know connor is testing ms of zenith.

This B-Roll was done on an Armour Stacking Scion as I had B-Roll of that sitting aroud which also uses LS. We are actually adding in Returnign Proj into the main guide though as its the same dps as Elemental Damage with Attacks, better clear & allows us to hit 50 (tehcnically 60 if we could) stacks of shocks on bosses up from 30. Theres a video coming out in ~30 mins about this and the pob in the guide video is updated.

Many man many people have followed my leaguestart guides from day 1 and I make it a point to make your time as simple as possible. At the end of the day, pick whiever guide looks the best for you from whichever content creator you wish to follow.

Even with a tabula, id still recommend to stick to RoA as LS will feel bad without much Attack Speed. If you do want to try LS, dont swap until ~Act 6 at the minimum when you can get the Pierce nodes, the +1 strike mastery at multishot & claws of the magpie. As for RoA, youd add on Elemental Damage With Attacks and a Concentrated Effect

I am looking at league starting this build, but POB says that the DPS caps at like 3mil with red tier map investment. I tried adding in some much better items from trade, and got it up to 9mil, which is still super low. Am I missing something, or does this build just do ZDPS against single target enemies?

Yeah, the issue with pob is its not accurate for LS. As mentioned in the guide & video, you can double hit bosses meaning you need to add in the melle attack into your dps. This means by default it does 80% more damage than shown. On bosses we can also get to~30 stacks of shock for Oath of Spring which the PoB is set to 4 to show you what your mapping dps would be. With these 2 things together it is ~7m sustained dps on bosses. If we add in 2 Vaal Lightning strikes as you should ideally pool them and save them for an upcomming boss, they give you 1m dps each before Oath of Spring & finally Warden will have Unbound Avatar which should always be up going into a boss giving you another 80% more damage for 10 seconds. On things such as Elder, Shaper, Exarch ect, you will need to build up your Unbound first which takes ~5-6 seconds, but afterwards, your total burst dps with this "bad" gear is 11m for 10 seconds and then a sustained 7m. You can also swap to Molten Strike if you need st dps with returning proj and do ~30m dps.

How much consideration did you give to Oath of Winter? It seems unbelievably strong?

Its very weak in this build. We are a crit build with a very high crit chance and deal cold as 33% of our total dps. Due to this we already kinda freeze everything on screen from all testing ive done. It would be nice on bosses as it would guarantee you can keep them perma frozen which on bosses is 50% less action speed but, while mapping, its pretty much a waste of 2 points. Originally we were going to include winter but, after testing and consideration, it just isint worth it.

With the Cold Mastery that increases dmg the longer the enemy has been frozen by you, its not only a defense boost against bosses but also a lot of dmg(more than Oath of Summer). But you would also have to find 4 additional points somewhere on the tree. Most likely spec out of the Fortify and get fortify implicit on chest.

This is just Mobility skill(s) based on which one you prefer using, Lightning Strike, Vaal Lightning Strike, Enduring Cry (which will be replaced by a cluster later) and Unbound Avatar which while you can use as often as youd like, i expect you to only press for bosses.

Actually, very SSF viable as the uniques in this arent important or required. You should have a pretty good time progressing through this but, you are going to hit a wall for EHP in the midgame build without the ultimatum shield. You can go lightning coil which is reasonable to farm in SSF and it would be an ok alternative. Eventually woud want to try to get the shield + a lethal pride or a glorious vanity + fourth vow for ehp. Finally, in the endgame of this, you will want to go Omni meaning youd have to go farm your own to keep scaling dps but, this in an SSF space should have fine Exarch dps to where it shouldnt feel bad.

We will have a max of 5 which is fine as anything past that is overkill and they will just tend to miss and do nothing in the first place. We get 3 from base LS, 1 from Multishot & 1 from a 20% qual gem. Later on, our dps will be so high that we could reasonably run LMP or GMP for even more proj if really needed.

I was tempted to play Warden but the amount of ramp is a bad feel for me. Oath of spring is gonna feel awful against bosses, especially with only 7aps. Also, even 2 scorches are gonna be tiny, with a fire hit of 10k.

You have to double APS due to double hitting meaning this is 15.58 aps worth of hits. This also doesnt include extra hits from Vaal LS. Shocks will last 2.2 seconds and with a 94% chance to shock: 15.58 aps * .92% x 2.2 = 32.2 shocks. A 2 second ramp is nothing esp on pinnacle bosses which take 90% less damage for the first second they are attackable and 50% less for the 2nd second. It should be completly fine and its going to be extra added damage for free on bosses. Lastly, we can also get the proj return to you enchant on a claw if it is craftable on a claw effectively doubling our total hits at a minimum. We can also potentially take the new annoint rising tempest if it works with oaht of spring to reduce the total shocks we need greatly.

Stuns shouldnt really feel like too much of an issue but, if they do seem annoying to you, since we have so much extra dex, you can run 8 "Chance to Avoid Stun" tattoos which should easily be 1-2c each at most which when paired with Heart of Oak will give you stun immunity.

Doom will probably feel a little bit better day 1-2 just due to how comfy master surgeon and pf flask sustain is. Its very nice having your resistances taken care of by 3 flasks. With that said, since this build needs very few hard stats on their gear, it should make day 1-2 super simple too. Once you get past that hump and into t16, this builds clear will be a lot faster than doom was. Doom is a better all arounder while this will have a bigger focus on mapping until ~10-15 div where we can focus on defences too. I think it should be comparable to Doom if not slightly worse early on with the ease of playing being just as high as doom while gearing should be equal.

The plan is to include the returning proj weapon enchant from 3.25 of it is usable on claws. This is something we need to wait until launch to see if it can and I'll be making a follow-up video on it. As for using returning proj ahead of time, it's not really worth it as we can already get ~30 shocks as is meaning it would be a dps loss over other gems while not really making that big of an impact on clear. I'll think about this a little more and do some testing, but my initial thought is that it wouldn't be worth it.

Anyway regarding the build, I refuse to play with the tincture meme and having to manage the timing for it, so if I do end up playing any version of this build I'll just spec in oath of winter. Permafreezing literally EVERYTHING thats not an endgame pinnacle boss is the best defense any build could ask for. Pinnacle bosses being 50% slower is just... insane, and allows squishier builds to easily do uber bosses even if they couldn't before. Another thing to consider for people who wanna play this build- these warden ls/molten strike/whatever strike builds are also gonna have like 20% of the playerbase playing the exact same thing, so gear will be like 10x as expensive.

Going defensive with gear and offensive with ascendancy achieves the same result but with more reliable survivability (without having to keep hitting all enemies on the screen, potentially getting oneshot from offscreen).

The one thing I dislike about this as a starter is that you cannot level with it. There are a lot of strong melee builds that can actually utilize the skill for leveling at act4 the latest. Otherwise great build, but I am a little LSed out from the past metas...

Yeah, the issue is just Attack Speed. LS would just feel abysmally slow and youd easily add 1h+ to your act 10 time if not more. Its just better to level with RoA or TR, LA, ST, than to do it with LS sadly.

Darkray will never be 50c given how cheap it is and how most people dont enjoy the playstyle. The same can be said about carnage, its just too common. Taming is pretty much always ~50c and stormshroud quickly goes to a few div.
