Oh dear, oh dear. It seems some have reverted to higher levels of hyperbole. I’m certainly not moved by her performance and don’t find it captivating. I’ve been listening to music since the very early 60’s and when I think of captivating female singers, I think of Dusty, Ella, Billie Holliday, Linda Ronstadt amongst others. Describing Ms Sherlock as a “genius” is setting the bar at a very low level. As I have said before, an acquaintance quite senior in the UK music industry is perhaps a good judge of “genius” and she described Ms Sherlock as competent; quite good but not exceptional.

For a street musician with all the distractions around her, we are amazed at her ability to sing so many different genres so beautifully. We have watched her grow from a raw young girl to a more polished young lady with a strong voice and an emotional delivery. Her music may not be for everyone but for over 6 million subscribers we love what she brings every time she sings.
