Are you sure? The Great Depression was cause businessmen running away with their ideas regardless of the consequences to the nations stability which then led to the rebound. Actually find it funny that it is about 100 years ago and we are following similar patterns to what led to the flip last time.
@ProfDG-u7m12 сағат бұрын
@ The depression in the 30s was caused by the Federal Reserve’s mismanagement on money supply and a lack restraint on credit. I have no idea what you are referring to in your comment. The conditions that precipitated the collapse have been building in our country over the past few years. The buying power of the dollar has declined to 3% of what it was in 1971. Stocks are being traded at ridiculous multiples. Many business people are skilled in cutting costs, improving efficiency and increasing benefits.

It should be stated when talking about breaking encryption, Willow, the new quantum computer chip from Google has 105 physical cubits. However, you will need thousands of logical cubits to break current encryption. Now, depending on how much they can get the error rate down, it could take tens of thousands up to possible millions of physical cubits to get enough logical cubits to break modern encryption standards. So I don’t think it’s right around the corner. However, it is on the horizon.
@ibgib14 сағат бұрын
Another thing is Friedberg misspeaks at 30:55 - "All modern encryption standards ... all computer technology is built on algorithms that are based on number factorization." What he means here is that asymmetric cryptography which underpins the PKI that (almost) all networking is based on (e.g. certificates). Symmetric cryptography like AES is not based on number factorization, rather much of it is based on hash functions and/or other forms of Shannon information confusion and diffusion. AFAICT it is still debated on how susceptible various symmetric preimage attacks are to quantum algorithms, but Grover's algorithm is thought to provide quadratic speedup.
@jannichi643112 сағат бұрын

I value your perspective and content.Bitcoin is on its way to breaking records, getting closer to hitting new high prices, showing that it's gaining more value and could go even higher than we've seen before. This could mean great things for people looking to invest, suggesting now might be a good time to get involved before it jumps even higher. It's an exciting moment that could change the game in general...managed to grow a nest egg of around 7.2Biitcoin to a decent 26.4Biitcoin. At the heart of this evolution is Laura Brockman, whose deep understanding of both cryptocurrency and traditional trading has been instrumental. She holistic approach to investment and commitment to staying abreast of market trends make her an invaluable ally in navigating this new era in cryptocurrency investment....

I disagree with the Tiktok thing. If any app can have these vulnerabilities, it's an OS/hardware/data access problem. Any app like Tiktok, Whatsapp, etc. should not even be able "spy" unless given permission regardless of who legally owns the app. For this reason, there are some phones now with hardware kill switches on the mic, camera, and other sensors as well as privacy mobile OSes. Google and Apple should be the ones being pushed to tighten security, not leave these loopholes untouched. Also, you can just build data access/provenance protocols so that even if China requested data legally, they wouldn't be able to do it from a technical perspective. This was the whole point of project Texas. It seems like the US enjoys keeping these security loopholes unpatched. Like why not just fix the underlying vulnerabilities? Even SMS is insecure and we still don't have a replacement. If this ban goes through, this provides precedent for a bunch of other bans like League of Legends, Temu, Capcut, etc.
