That tractor does have a intake air heater, from what I seen from the video, it’s not wired up, where you were spraying in the either look above that towards the front of engine, you will see a fine thread lug, that is the positive terminal for the heater,

I don't know too much about the 262s in the D17 Diesels, but I don't feel like they should start THAT hard. Then again, not been around one, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I feel like if everything's to spec, good compression, good injection pump, correct timing, etc, they should start somewhat easier than that. I've only ever been around gas burning D17s, though. Our Series IV gas burner is the best running gas tractor I've ever been around. And it has factory 3-point and remote hydraulics

There was a reman pump put on by the previous owners father. No clue on history before that. Could very well be timed poorly or have a worn out engine

@@Tractor-Roy Either way, D17 Diesels are really cool. The D17 in general is just a pretty good tractor in my opinion. Live PTO, Live Hydraulics (on the Series IV) anyways, on the go shifting with the Power Director, etc. They're a good tractor

A slightly improved version of the engine that was used in the WD45 diesel. We always had a block heater (coolant line) plugged in on our WD45 diesel for winter, but in warm weather it never needed any help to start.

@tractorsold1 yup, the WD45 Diesel used the Buda-designed 230, very similar to the later Allis-designes 262s. I'd like to find me a WD45 Diesel one of these days

Why would you pull a drag behind a bush hog?

So I don’t have to make two trips around the field

Diesel engines which are reluctant to start, especially those needing starter fluid to help the trouble is caused by low compression. !

Very well could be. If it’s lacking power once it’s hooked to the baler next summer then I’ll dig deeper into it.

Well now I know what I’m going to look into today. Hopefully the element is still good
