We had a '77 M2 in the late 80s with one of those orange heads with 1000 miles of roller chain under it. One year, on the last four rows of the season, it kept throwing chains until we finished picking one row at a time! Great combine, corn head not so much.

Yep....black frame heads were a big improvement
@mattlf91203 жыл бұрын
I'll take a orange frame head any day, they're built like a tank and run smooth. Those black heads are probably made from gum wrappers, they usually have cracks all over the frame and in the sheet metal.

Was that a dryer that we saw the corn in? Haven't seen anything like that before outstanding. I do love all the old Allis tractors just working away. Have a Safe and Awesome Day. 😀😀😀👍👍👍👏👏👏

I see that there is another farmer out there with an L an a M2. My brother in law and I have a 74 L with a 630 head and a 78 M2 with an 18ft. grain table. Easiest combines to work on ever made. O except for the feeder beater.

J and L are you selling the corn or are they storing it for you? Great video as usual, but I miss the 185. Thank you again.
@JandLVideos3 жыл бұрын
That's all theirs I just film it for them, they sell most of it right away after drying. The 185 didn't get much use during this harvest I didn't even see it pull a wagon

Great video! Gorgeous footage, and no music drowning out the machinery’s sound. Also, good to see a White in the mix, although I’m not familiar with that era/model of a flatly painted grey hood instead of silver. I’d love to see you put together a video showing us city kids all the basic parts of a Gleaner. Like what are those long, rectangular ducts/tubes on the right side of the combine? One goes from the belly up to the right side of the cab, then angles down toward the head. Do they carry some by-product of the harvest, or simply house belts or chains?

That is the tailings elevator
@countrygent43 жыл бұрын
Inside that smaller metal tube was a chain that took partially theshed grain back up to the front of the combine and dropped it back into the cylinder to be rethreshed and ran thru the combine again. The bigger one took the clean grain up to the hopper to be held until the grain tank got full to be dumped into a wagon or truck at the end of the field.
