I'd vote to fix the shifter issues and keep the tractor running. If you retrofit a 3-point hitch (look up how others have done it inexpensively, sure you can just buy a full system ready to go too) you can use many modern implements. Get a simple old pull type trip-plow and a small disc to make a garden this and future springs. That can be very educational for the kids. Get a wide mower to maintain the yard fast. If you don't keep it, I'd suggest looking for a Massey Ferguson TO35/MF35/MF135 series as there are many and they have modern 3point plus live PTO (the reason for the hand clutch on the WD is to get live pto capabilities). The older Ford N-series and prior Fergusons (20s/30s) did not have live PTO and a spinning brush hog can push you into things.

Way to go Jeff! She’s a beauty and your Grandpa would be so proud of you and you’re girls for rescuing the Wd. I still remember when Dad got his new around 1953.

Your go to for tractor parts is Yesterday’s Tractor. You scored a real nice COMPLETE Allis Chalmers 👌 As with most old iron, things are worn out. But old tractors are things that will be around for another 70+ years with minimal maintenance

the engine is a new style block the trans is a Wd with a straight gearshift the 53 wd and wd45 had a crocked gearshift. the engine could be a wd45 or a d17 engine.. in 1969 i bought a WD in far worse shape than this one is in.. the hand clutch is in good shape. i would have torn the trans down for inspection when you worked on the hand clutch. you probably have a bad shifter fork or a bearing in the trans gone bad like i foun d with my WD

I finally looked at the serial number on the rear wind and on the engine. Looks like it is actually a wd45!

Engine is WD45 but the rear chassis looks like a WD (pin drawbar, straight shifter clues). Most likely prior owner replaced a stuck WD engine with a WD45 and repainted. Still that's a pretty good find.

There a lot of vintage Allis aficionados . Some are still working the small farms . You will flip that quickly if you decide

Good evening, My name is Tom and I'm a little confused. You have a WD gear shift lever and the engine is a WD45. I don't know if someone put an older gear shift lever on a 45 or if they put a 45 engine in a WD.

The engine serial number begins with 45- Does that make the engine a wd45?

Do you really need a hand clutch?
@johnentinger652411 ай бұрын
hand clutch gives you a "live" pto trans needs to be in gear and clutch out

Why not push the clutch pedal down?????????????????????
@ratrod76 Жыл бұрын
Ruby was trying to, but it didn't seem to be releasing. She could barely reach the pedal. I think it was partially stuck and eventually freed up as it was pulled up on the trailer.

OK . I never liked orange tractors. My favorite was Green.
