Ken I know you are not familiar with Allison boats but it should be noted they have the best build quality and use the best materials in the industry. They have the strongest transoms made in a bassboat and are hydro and aerodynamically more advanced in design then any other bassboat made. The handling and running characteristics of this boat are superb, there is so much that could be said beyond basic layout and storage etc.. Forgot to mention this is the most fuel efficient 20' + bassboat hull made hands down.

You don't just trim it up and hang on , iit takes time yes it is easier to drive a Bullet IMHO but which can tote the mail in rough water and obviously better fuel consumption? folks drive Allisons because folks can drive Allisons. Also to caveat on the build quality and touch on your question the texture you mention at 19:00 is there to add rigidity to the hull and is the same on all the kevlar no rot Allisons to my knowledge my first Ally an 89 XTB21 held up pretty good in 30+years I can't post a pic but Allison isn't equaled in quality and performance as Darris' is for boats Werner bon Braum was for Rockets

@@KenSmithFishing I have not driven an Allison bassboat but I did own an Allison sport boat (SS-2000) for 8 years. Once you set it up properly and get some seat time it is like on rails (almost so you could drive with one hand on the wheel). I did about 98mph with a Mercury 200xs in a four seat boat! I have some clips here on youtube at those speeds and virtually no correction on the wheel... kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ_daaqMhdJlgac Since I have taken up fishing again I am looking into an Allison XB-21... Thank you for reviewing!

The top cap is all Glass with textured gel coat. When a co-angler or non owner puts his nasty shoes on the gunnel it does not leave any scratches/blemishes. The textured gel is harder to clean but is the most durable I have ever witnessed in a boat. I have had mine up to 86.1mph with two big dudes loaded very heavy and 30+ gallons of gas and oil. Last year I got chased off of Sam Rayburn by an oncoming storm, I was doing 85.0 by myself loaded, plus dual Power Pole Blades. 250 Sport XS 2 stroke 28 pitch Bravo I.

Ken Smith, Woody's wax is the best. It is a little expensive but goes a very long ways. Wash the boat as usual and use a soft bristle brush to apply the Woody's wax to get it worked into all of the small crevices. It keeps it very easy to clean thereafter for a good long period of time.

FYI-u cant run over 82mph without a Sportsmaster or atleast a nose cone...blows out. I had an XB2002 with a 260 Mariner & with that hull the trick is gettin it on pad & keeping it there. Takes a couple tanks of gas to learn. U dont want hydrolic steering either in the 2002's. Damn good ridin boat tho & iv drawn out 15th before & ran down #1 boat out with tha QWIKNESS!!! Narrower deck on it & me & my padna both fished up front. Iv had 2 Skeeters too. Loved em since early or mid 80's. I like the gel decks on em now but not in love with looks of hull. Anyways,thought id chime in

Hi Ken I appreciate your channel and truly I wish the boat you were reviewing was set up a bit more for your review and I wish you had a serious of full time tournament pro run you through the more specific points of this boat. I have had the benefit of running many many hulls and if I was to simply take the hull of the XB21 and run it through several true performance categories the hull would out perform the regular production models significantly (especially after seated time). Less the top end. The hull just requires seated time (running it for a weekend ) and learning to bump the trim gets you pass the learning curve faster. The hull turns better than any other hull I have ran. It bites and locks in and you can make those turns faster. The mid range speed and acceleration is ahead of the pack when prop'd correctly. At rest the hull is stable much more stable than some narrower and wider platforms. This is the most fuel efficient bass hull in the 20ft -21 range in the industry. 0 to 60 in this hull is pure joy, being nimble and responsive (some of this is acquired after some seated time). I found it interesting you took the measurement of the front deck from behind the bike seat. All measurements I have taken have been from behind the foot pedal. As this is where your foot placement occurs ( I like to call it 'the station'). You step, rest, change foot position in this area. I believe that area is approx 49.6 inches about the same as the ol HP triton, 700 series bird (Pheonix ), and the Legend (very popular and no longer in production). Co Angler arrangement is different by very achievable. For example, removing the fire extinguisher and utilizing the ramp allows 3 or 4 rods by your feet (similar to standard placement) The rod butts simple rest on the ramp and that rod strap (that is used to cradle the extinguisher now cradles the rod butts). Fishing from this boat can be extremely effective as it moves through the water on the trolling motor much more efficiency. The wind protection is the best in the biz, it is clearly evident with one ride. Seating low and to center actually places in a safer position whether running 20 mph or 80. The wrap stile bucket seats lock you in. As you are aware more seating is taken on this configuration. The potty is versatile . Simple no ladies, no folk with medical conditions requiring this accommodation means you just gained the best trash receptor ( for all that line, used plastic bait, candy wrapper, water bottles so on (load it up and dump it when your day ends). The starboard rear storage can hide a man 6 ft 200 lbs. The nose of the boat has a handle making it easy to direct your boat. The horn speaker is actually at the nose of the boat like it should be instead of in or around the cock pit. Now for rough water, once you get the seated time running this boat in rough chop will shock you. If you ever get a chance measure the actual keel and degree of "V". The entry (bow) is great but the "V" and keel are excellent. It is one of the softest rides in a bass hull you can imagine. You can run stable in 1 to 2 wave faces faster in this hull. The bottom of this rigid hull cuts the waves. Handling in rough water is excellent! And when you are stuck out there climbing wave faces (if propped correctly) it's easy. Also a small note front deck rod placement is actually arrange further back on the deck. On the starboard there is a giant tube where you can put 3 combos increasing the space near your feet. I truly appreciate and respect your work , Gosh I just wish you could have been with someone on this review. Anyway respectfully, thank you for your take on the hull. Hopefully you have another opportunity to really get to this boat, and the company. Allison is rich in innovation, industry firsts and unique advancements. Take Care.

Good stuff there, I measured at the seat hole since that's about where the second guy normally stands when we team fish. The boats performance is fun and interesting, I'd love to have more seat time in it and in the Bullet to compare them, the Bullet had a 300R on it, and in these high performance boat the more HP the easier they are to drive in the 78-83 mph range. That said as Michael said in his comment to yours different strokes, or as we say "Ginger or Mary Anne"?

Ken have you fished out of a Legend 211? Triton HP, Pheonix 721 ? It fished in that size category however it fishes wider than other wide decks because of rod placement. You can move your deck rods back. Great concept. I think you need to really fish from the deck a day or two. You be surprised. The came out of a Ranger z22, skeeter i class 21 and a legend 211 to name a few . I really didn’t feel a deck space loss especially. When you are two inches on each side being the major difference.

I've been in a few Allison's lately since I'm currently doing my own research for a new boat, and despite the speed reputation, its quite an awesome fishing rig ! Can't wait to see the scoring on it ! Please be sure to point out that the interior of the boat is fiberglass, not plastic, and some of the other awesome features that most do not know about, like the skid planer, aluminum grid transom supports, 5" channel frame trailer, etc ! Love the channel and series!

the biggest issues I think are the lack of redundancy with the livewells aeration and the split single. The seats are too low can be raised. It is the smoothest riding boat ias it's V bottom is the sharpest and deepest of any bass boat. It feels like a single sponson catamaran in rougher water. Too bad you have a slick calm day. You and your partner are completely protected in bad weather during a run. Front deck is really tight. This is a race boat turned into a fishing boat. Construction is top notch .You have to drive it when running but you can have a conversation even at 92 MPH. Good Job keepm comin. .$02

A Flowrite (brand) remote drain plug is an aftermarket item available (and actually what's used in many factory available options). Installation may be a pain simply because of getting access to the drain plug area in the bilge. Any dealer should be able to install this, and some DIY guys could do it without difficulty. One was added to my Ranger at a later date as it wasn't a factory option for the year model of my boat.

Edward curious what motor you are running. I know a number of guys that fish hard and are running the 80# ultrex, or the Ghost on 24v is 99 #’s, and they have no problems.

@@KenSmithFishing I’ve run a 36 volt TM since the day they came out. Have an X5 Motorguide know and fish the Delaware River and a lot of electric only lakes. Pre 36 volt I had 4 TM batteries in a 361 Ranger to get the battery life I needed in heavy Current. 36 volt last all day

@@KenSmithFishing lithiums would change all that. You can run 24volt lithiums all in current without any issues.

@@jakehorton1410 I was with Legend for 5 years between 2014- 2018 when Johnny shut them down and they were one of the best made boats ive ever fished in and ive been in almost everything. The alpha 221r was my #1 choice, but the V20 was a much wider boat. Both boats have a 52 degrees dead rise at the front which means it'll cut waves better than most. Stay away from anything earlier than 2014 with the Alphas and 2016 and new for the V20. All fibreglass boats with no vinyl, plastic etc etc. I wont tell you their perfect but nothing is. I fish the great lakes exclusively and believe me when i say they are a great riding boat!

@@smallmouthmaster i have a 14 199 i love the ride hole shot and can make a 180 turn at 55mph 45 lock to lock few small things that make me want something newer. Fxr and falcon seems close maybe even a z20. But the ride is so good idk what to think
@smallmouthmaster
@smallmouthmaster 3 жыл бұрын
@@jakehorton1410 Thats awesome bud. I wouldnt do FXR. Falcon seem to be nice, but Im still thinking fit and finish isnt the same as a Legend. if you can find a 2017 0r 18 V20 I think you would be very happy, but just my opinion. The skeeters never hold up in the big water, but they are sharp looking boats and big decks to fish off of. If you fish smaller lakes, ya a skeeter might be good. Resale value is also something to consider!
