I'm a proud Chicago and currently no longer lives in the city but I was a tour guide for a couple of years and you described everything perfectly. I gave architecture tours and It speaks volumes that you said you know nothing about architecture but you definitely noticed it. I went to the sky deck in the Sears tower when I went to Chicago in the summer time and it was so amazing. One thing I learned also is don’t call it the “Willis tower”, everyone in Chicago still calls it the sears tower.

I think thats something most people don't realize living off a great lake is like being by the ocean. We have beaches, waves, and coastal towns. The only difference is no sharks and the water isn't salty.

You have to come back in the summer and do the Chicago Architecture Center's architecture boat tour! Easily the best thing to do as a tourist. They take you down the river and explain the history of the city and the buildings and then take you out on the lake after giving you really cool skyline views.

I went to Chicago in June (‘24) and the “bean” was still closed with barriers. For someone that hasn’t been to Chicago in many years and brought my daughter this time, it was definitely disappointing and a sore subject like you said. I absolutely LOVE the visual quality of your video and quickly went to investigate the Alpha (used to have a Sony NEX till it broke and was not repairable). I’ll be there again in December and am anxious to check out the shoreline spot that you found where you can get such a fantastic view of the skyline. It looks maybe at the aquarium? I don’t think you said specifically where that point was. I am SO excited to get photos of all the December decorations and hopefully go ice skating! Beautiful video!
