Effective length of the bridge wire is increased ka matlab?

It is like... For example Earlier 5V potential was distributed on 1m length but after adding extra resistor now 4.5 V is dropped only in the box and only 0.5V is across wire. In this way you can imagine that now the length of the wire is 10m and only 0.5 V drop is across the wire.
