the Allman Brothers Band had a great way of wearing their technical prowess on their sleeve- with complex melodies and extensive instrumental sections, while at the same time coming across as a deeply laidback and down to Earth group of people. You can feel each note coming from a place of warm authenticity and straightforwardness of soul. Way to capture that vibe

I'm 69, and finally learning to play, this is on the bucket list. Of course i WILL play the greatest song, Stairway, on my 70th birthday, but Blue Sky is right up there with Ten Years Gone, Bron Y Aur Stomp, Whiskey in the jar (Eric Bell) as songs i WILL play! Gotta love Dickey's ability to stay in the major, probably the most melodic player i have heard!

I listened to this the 2nd time, before I checked the comments, and I had already commented. Again, some really nice picking. and the timing was excellent. That said, and not to detract, but the guitar, on the first solo, had just a little bit too much fuzz in the tone, to my ears, anyway. I seemed to miss just a little of the ringing tone the Allman Brothers guitarists are famous for, in just that solo. Not a big thing, though, and the rest was fine.
