The people that complained about allo allo at the time if its first broadcast weren't the woke generation, as you would no doubt put it , but those who actually faught in world war 2 . At this point, that's the expectation rather than the norm, so why keep saying it? 2). Because the whole point of saying it is to save time, redundantly continuing to do so is defeating the object.

About 15 years ago I saw the locals in a Bulgarian village watching 'Allo 'Allo in the village bar. The episode was dubbed and the locals were all laughing. I've no idea how the British spy policeman with the awful French translated into Bulgarian.

It was great !!! His lines are still quoted by a great many people to this day. Like, when I used to go school or, later in life, go to work, I used to be greeted with his line in Bulgarian - "Добриютро" / (Good Moaning). Also, Fairfax and Carstairs in the bulgarian dub were hallarious

Helga and Flick always had the best innuendo-filled exchanges. Probably the best one was starting the car with the crank, but I always laugh at even the smaller ones. The one where they were having dinner and she holds up a drooping sausage on a fork, "Herr Flick, my sausage has gone limp." "I dip mine in ze pickle. It revitalizes it!"

Here in Portugal, was a huge sucess. I'm 42, and everyone from my age, remember well the catch phrases and the hillarious moments. For me, alongside Blackadder, are the 2 most funnies show i ever watch. I love seinfeld and cheers, but Allo Allo and Blackadder are on top.

This show was so brillant that even some of the family names of the fictional characters bore a connection to their features or roles: "Artois" is the beer's name, "Geering" seems similar to "gering" in German, which is of "minor importance", "Gruber" sounds as "Groover" , which is in line with the lieutenant's leanings lol

Jesus Christ! God bless the entire cast of Allo Allo. One of the greatest ever British comedies. Most people from around Europe (heck the world) loved this show.
