Great I found your channel. I love planting fruit trees on my allotment as well and try to stretch the boundaries with planting things like nectarine, apricot, almond, pomegranate, peach, and loquat. I always tell myself I am planning for climate change. I am in Oxfordshire and we have mostly very dry summers here as well. Most of my trees are very young so will see how they will be doing.

Great allotment. Mulberrys rule, I've got two young black mulberries and an everbearing Illinois mulberry, can't wait to taste them

Nice selection of fruit trees mate. Panachee is a super late fig, might be worth planting it inside a greenhouse, but we never know with the weather these days we might even get a heat wave until September.
@gotropicaluk83626 жыл бұрын
Fruit Nut nurseries that stock this variety say it ripens in August... I’d imagine if that’s for most of the uk then it will be a bit earlier than that here. It’s still a young tree so am yet to see any fruit. Have you grown it before?
@FruitsForLife6 жыл бұрын
GoTropicalUK Yes, I had two Panachee or Panache for about 4 years , just got one for now for the sake of having it. All these years I only had ripe figs in November and that again from a greenhouse. With a heated greenhouse I suppose you can get it to ripen early. We are in the south also and it’s fairly dry here. It’s other name is Bordissot Blanca Rimada and there are few types of striped ones. They all need the kind of weather that we enjoy in our holidays lol. Trouble is it only got main crops so the figs starts to develop end of May/June and they need 120 days of nice warm days to ripen to perfection. There is tho another stripped variety with two crops “Rigato Del Salento” but it’s a bit on the expensive side. Keep us updated maybe yours is an early sport as the nursery says.

Have your Peach Trees survived at the allotment outside? or did they get Peach Leaf Curl cheers Alan
@arifm2k6 жыл бұрын
Liking the extra videos. You have a few peaches here, Do you have any issues with peach leaf curl? Also would love an update on how your papayas are getting along. Easy to grow but getting them through winter is tough. Had all mine die out.
@gotropicaluk83626 жыл бұрын
Arif M yeah my died through this winter to. I may try them again at some point. The peach trees did have a few leaves with peach leaf curl but they grew past it. Will have to see how it goes for next spring.

Nice Callistemon (Australian bottlebrush) in bloom! How are your 'more tropical' fruit trees- the avocados (Hass and Bacon), cherimoya, dragonfruit cactus vine, citrus, coffee, etc- doing?
@gotropicaluk83626 жыл бұрын
Gary Card they are all fine. Will be doing updates on them all in then coming months. This winter has been hard on them, but only superficial (ie leaf dropping and tip burn). I only have the ‘bacon’ avocado now as i gave the ‘hass’ away to a friend.
@claimhsolais34666 жыл бұрын
In case you're not already doing so, you can try to grow yarrow. They're potassium and phosphorus fixers, have a plethora of medical uses, and bees make amazing honey out of it.
@gotropicaluk83626 жыл бұрын
ClaimhSolais sounds interesting! I’m always up for trying something new. I might try taro next year.

Great fruit collection!hopefully my garden will look like that one day. I have been looking for the Pakistany mulberry but I haven't been able to find one, could you please tell me where you got? and the same for the peach trees, as it sounds like they have been able to shake off leaf curl. Or do you recommend certain place to buy fruit trees from experience? Thank you Maram
@gotropicaluk83626 жыл бұрын
Maram Alsannaa I will buy fruit trees from all over. The peregrine variety has some quite good resistance to the disease. Are you based in Suffolk?
@maramalsannaa98456 жыл бұрын
GoTropicalUK Good to know I might put it on my list, no we are in the Hampshire area.

Hi there, I've been looking into getting an allotment for mainly damson trees, will they thrive in the midlands [UK]
@gotropicaluk83624 жыл бұрын
Yes they should be fine where you are. The trees grow pretty much all over the UK.👍🏻

Paw-Paws wouldn't like the dry conditions but I'm surprised that you don't have persimmon or loquat. I'm currently on the lookout for a mulberry though and the Pakistan looks like it might fit the bill.

Hello, will these jujube plant surviv in uk weather
@Magicalworld_926 жыл бұрын
I mean out side
@gotropicaluk83626 жыл бұрын
Rina Begum they are pretty hardy, with many nurseries saying they are hardy to zone 5/6. Most of the uk is zone 8/9, so they will have no problem with our winters.

dont you get curly leaf problems with your peaches?
@gotropicaluk83626 жыл бұрын
Michael Dyer they had one or two leaves with it, but nothing that the tree didn’t grow out. I am using oil of oregano on them as a test to see if it makes any difference to peach leaf curl. Il have to wait tho to see any results.

Is your Pakistan Mulberry a dwarf tree?
@gotropicaluk83624 жыл бұрын
Raziya Gulam not particularly, but they can be pruned fairly heavy to keep them at a manageable size.👍🏻
@razg95404 жыл бұрын
@@gotropicaluk8362 I always wanted a mulberry. I bought the Charlotte Russe and the flavour just isn't there. Do you know if it works potted?
@gotropicaluk83624 жыл бұрын
Raz G mulberry trees generally want to grow quite large. They are known for having a very vigorous root system, and so may struggle to be kept in a container. They do well in the ground here in the south of the UK.

I just received my tiger fig seeds last week which I ordered from China, they were sent to the wrong address in Australia, they were sent to Western Australia instead of New South Wales (wrong side of the country),how did they get that so wrong in China ? In the south east side of the U.K. (e.g. London) they get fairly warm summers of up to 30°C but I think that their winters get fairly cold. In the northern part of the U.K.where the climate is oceanic, the summers are more like our winters are in my area,for example, the place Seaham in the U.K. is as cold in Summer as our winters are in Seaham over here where I live. Our day time temperatures went to a minimum of 12°C this winter & they're forecasting a maximum of 23°C. They have forecasted temperatures of between 1-3°C overnight but at the coldest point (6AM),our thermometer has read 7°C so my papaya plants have survived because there has been no frost. We used to get frost 20 years ago which killed a papaya tree we grew but it seems our climate has changed as it used to be more temperate. We live in a humid subtropical area but it does get very hot & dry during the summer period, for example, it got up to 44°C last summer which almost killed some of the native eucalyptus saplings,which is unusual because they are drought resistant. The heat just kills the plants so I'm going to have to shade the younger trees when I first plant them.
