Sudhangshu Das Alloys are light weight and thus are preferred by sport cars for better handling...in the same time they are fragile as well...bus and trucks are heavy vehicles and then in bad road conditions or over bumps and pathholes wheels have to tackle high impact ....on which there are chances that will broke down, i suppose

1 more point, alloy wheels are easier to mass produce. spoke wheel require much more time to manufacture and with advancements in production line technologies, spoke wheels actually cost more than the alloys. +motorcyclist magazine has this topic covered in detail.
