These kinds of fights in games are one of my favorites. I like the idea of not being able to win and then following up with twists and turns that make the whole event more exhilarating like having to run for your life ( Edge and Eblan Four), or putting your life on the line (Palom and Leonora) for example.

It's scary enough hearing this theme as a boss fight, but near the end of the game when you hear it as a random encounter with 2 or 3 Maenads attacking you, you're like "Holy Shit!!! RUN/SMOKE/TELEPORT!".

Mesnada = Maenads FFXIII-2: The Ability to command monsters and even Eidolons like Lightning in the intro against Caius or even Serah with they own paradox monsters FFIV The After Years: Alien clone girls with the Ability to control hordes of monster and Eidolons like when they attacked Baron Everytime I find new connections to the Fabula Nova Cristalis in the FF games... It is hard but a lot can match with that mithology. Lindzei and Pulse were doing crazy shit all over the universe...

I love how final fantasy 4 gave you the ability to fight fights you have to loose, rather than loose in a cutscene. The battle of the first mysterious girl with edges disciple, I forget his name sinse it was a long time ago was a fight I actually leveled up to level 50 to take her down and save the monks. Well, turns out she doesn't just hit you once, she summons two meteors back to back to kill you, its impossible to survive both though you can barely survive one. If I could have gone to a higher level i'd verse her at level 100 for sure.

@@Sephiroth08150 wouldn't know sense it's been a long time since I've played. I'm pretty sure that episode is the first of two or smth pre stories, allowing you to be level 50 at max for the final storyline. It was however one hell of a fight, if incredibly quick sense it took like a minute

@@Zonefire15 in the psp version, the 4 ninjas could die on their missions, making them permanently missable in the finl chapters, if you let them die. Ensuing a fight with the Meaden in Gekkou’s mission guarantees you’ll fail his mission, as you WILL die, knowing the Meaden will cast Meteor twice. And since there is a level cap, you can’t level Gekkou high enough to survive 2 meteors.

Meteion and Maenad had similarity, both are harbinger of world destruction, both are powerful adversaries, both able to bring the final days, both has a psychopath creator with the creator wanton on blue planet destruction and Fandaniel wanted to destroy the world alongside himself. Differences however lies in how their power are different with Maenad capable to manipulate Eidolons, corrupt them and steal Eidolon pacts from a summoner regardless how powerful the Eidolon is while Meteion capable to bring fear and despair to the point of corruption that turn their victims into a Blasphemy using dynamis.

Exdeath, Kefka, Sephiroth, Kuja. They're no match for these Made-In-China version of Rydia. She turns many of you dearest friends against you rather than killing them in front of your very eyes, Or burn your town to the ground. Maenads is by far the most pissed off antagonist, AFAIK.

@@tamaraliatys620 just one of her beat cecil, who was able to beat a god. On top of that, they can cast meteor like they're throwing popcorn at you. Meteor is a spell known for decimating large areas of land and causing the earth to rot. Even kefka could be killed by her easily. Her stats far outweigh the characters in ff6 and there's like 12 of her. In general, she's one of the most powerful final fantasy enemies to this day.

Kefka is a god of Magic. Maenads use magic. Your god of magic tells you to eff-off, you will be decimated. Putting a Maenad or twelve of them on power-scale versus Kefka will leave 12 crispy Maenuggets.

The fact that the Maenads were able to control and summon Eidolons to sick on the various main characters puts a seriously effective plot twist-like sense of shocking urgency for them all that know and care strongly for Rydia - who, being a summoner, is the only one capable of forming pacts with and summon Eidolons. Almost ALL but Rydia's Mist Dragon - who only appears after all Eidolons on the Blue Planet are rescued (Minus Leviathan, Asura, and Bahamut). Speaking of Bahamut, the final fight with the Maenad that brainwashed Cecil was suspenseful and tense in terms of emotion and psychological sense of urgency as to HOW to save him without killing. I mean, this boss cannot be bypassed without Rydia - regardless what you do without her. I had already had this in mind to invest on leveling her up to main Rydia alongside my party of Ceodore, Palom and Porom, and Luca, most intuitively BEFORE I learned that you need her to beat FFIV The After Years; I HAD to bring her along and level her up for the serious occasions that involve rescuing all Eidolons!

I am currently playing this game and just finished battling the mysterious girl with Palom and of course I couldn’t beat her, to no surprise. Something about her is intriguing to me, kinda like Beatrix in FF 9! I can’t wait to find more about her! Something is telling me she’s not as evil as she is coming off to be. She could’ve killed Palom and Lenora but she didn’t... BTW, this battle theme is epic to me...!
