Steve Gurley. Say no more. This one used to do the business back in the day. One for the original UK Garage followers. Back to 2000!

Rushed shower after school, scoff some Sainsbury's oven pizza, grab a Stella from under the stairs, a spray of deodorant, out the door and quick-step to the tube station feeling nervous and excited about the rave to come. Bagleys / SW1 / Coliseum / Charlie Brown's / Club Space / Coronet / Chocolate Bar / Emporium / Leisure Lounge / Gass Club. (Never made it to Eros Enfield, Faces Gants Hill, Destiny Watford or Purple E3!) Night lights of London city twinkling. Scary queuing in the cold - might get ID'd; dress code might be well strict. Fellows looking dapper and serious, ladies looking sexy and serious. 1998 though. Who needed a mobile phone?
@pascalwalls2533 жыл бұрын
It's all that in the second paragraph that put me off the garage scene back in the day. I used to go to the crusty hippy acid techno raves - no ID checks, no dress code, nobody judging you for what you looked like, how you danced, or what you were on. It's only with the wisdom of hindsight that I realise I had missed out on some bangin' tunes and good vibes.
@EdiDrums3 жыл бұрын
You might have missed out on some 1990s garage vibes but not on the tunes because here we have You Tube! Click of a button. 1990s was a whole Saturday afternoon missioning it to record shops, combing the bargain bins or having a £7.99 vinyl 'lottery' - 'Can I listen to this boss?' ... 'Sorry mate'... oh well, it's a _Nice & Ripe_ ... just hope it's a banger ... The good old days were wicked in their way but so was youth. Now is also good in its way. Click, bait, style, click, bait bait style!

@G3AK09 Well, as with most genres the definitions change as they develop, so even though most people would agree that these are the roots, they would also be hard pressed to classify this as strictly dubstep.

does anyone know the track that features Goya - Getting off on you hook. It might be a Steve Gurley production as the sound was his style but could be wrong.
@toxiicenvenom40411 жыл бұрын
Mmmmkuy lets not freak out here this producer was one of the "pioneers" of dubstep even though this is garage or "UK Garage" whatever floats your boat. This type of music played in nightclubs which stayed and evolved into mainstream dubstep.
@DjSprinks89013 жыл бұрын
@DjSprinks890 I also play a bit of Jungle and Hardcore too,got quite a few vinyl! May I ask what country you are from? As it may be you are confused with the whole US/UK House and Garage thing,U know,I say Tomato,U say Tomato and all that Lol....I can also provide you with many examples of vocal Garage and Drum and Bass so you can see the difference or you can just seach them your self^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ :)
