My mom had big curly red hair she was all Irish, I got her curly hair, all of it, baby pictures with these beautiful bouncy spirals. She died and my stepmom straightened my hair, my hair has been straightened for 12 years with no heat protection. I'm now 19 and desperately trying to get my curls back, it's flat and lifeless and some parts are curly coils and others are limp half straight half wavy hair pieces. I'm not prepared to shave my hair so now I've started the long process of trimming and taking care of it. I do hair masks every week, put coconut oil in my hair every day, I haven't used heat for 1 year and I see major improvement, it's still heavily heat damaged but it's slowly getting better.

Same I had tight coils until we moved to SG and the school bus lady had a problem with that so I had to brush my hair everyday. I don't live there anymore so I let my curls come back. However, it's not as curly as it used to be. It's mostly limp and messy haha

I live in Seattle and it is practically impossible to find someone like Ona who's so knowledgeable with our type of curly hair, most stylists here only know how to deal with extremely coarse curly hair but not like our type or straight/waive hair. best best best haircut I have ever had. for all the curly girls who have maybe fine hair, maybe your curls aren't curling like they used to...this haircut will solve all your hair problems. I have been cutting my own hair for the past 10 years. I have done it all wrong! the cuts were awesome (for straight hair that is). curly hair is so different. this was the easiest cut and my curls springed back. I haven't even used the curl products she did, and I will when I get a chance, but my hair is super full which I love. No scraggly see through ends. Nice and full and yet light so my curls are super bouncy and voluminous and I have waist length hair so even the length didn't pull down the curls. I have paid so much for deva curl products that didn't work and was about to even get a deva cut. no way! you can't wear your hair straight with deva cut. this cut is versatile. Straight or curly. And no this is not the same as layering. I have had my hair layered for over 20 years. The results are very different between the two cuts. You will love it. I'm in love with my hair again. Thank you so much to both the stylist and uploader.

This is why I get pissed when people say "how dare you cut hair wet" "curly hair needs to be cut dry otherwise it will look bad" hell no. As long as a curly professional cuts it, and with the right angle, it does g matter. This girl got a classic version, the "wet hair smoothed out with a comb" haircut, and her hair looked gorgeous. I get my curls cut classic and wet to, and it's all good

Loved this video and learned a ton... however. I am a little white girl and my texture is different than ethnic which there is a lot of info. My hair is curly but its really weird in that its tight curly at the top and then loosens up on the sides (which are quite thin and the dreaded "see-through"), then nice think curls in the back. What would your amazing stylist say to that? I'd love to see a video dealing with my type of hair. I know I should let it dry by itself, but the weird mix of curls leaves it looking ridiculous. HELP!

I got my curly hair cut a few weeks ago and am so disappointed. It was barely layered now it has no volume at all on top it all droops down no matter what I do, even doing everything upside down doesn’t help just give my roots weird uneven kinks. My hair used to be quite thick but hormones have made it very thin and flat. Going to see a proper curly stylist one day to fix my ruined hairstyle.
