For a good first time watch purchase I'd go with an Orient diver/dress watch and maybe work your way up to the entry level Swiss companies like Steinhart/Davosa imho.

@@allthingsrandom8137 Gave my dad a Mako 2 for his birthday years ago, but if I were you I'd upgrade to the Kamasu with Sapphire crystal and updated movement for not much more money.
