Juho...have you or Sohvi considered doing like Skype language lessons? My husband and I are working to move to Suomi in the next couple years. We wish to be able to pass our YKI. We've been studying on our own 18 mos and while he is at an A1.2, I am hitting A2.2. Problem is we have NO native speakers around us! The friends we've made in Oulu prefer to speak in English! WE NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO!😄❤️ It could be on your time, flexible schedule, even just once a month! Please consider it for a side hustle!

Watching this vid and the other vids where you go skiing, I simply can not believe that you and Sohvi and your guest have the energy to trek seemingly miles uphill to super remote peaks way off in the distance, on skis no less, and then ski down! It's an incredible accomplishment just to get to the top and so far from Lumi. You all must be in really, really good physical condition!

Been following you for a long time and the content keeps improving…keep it up. Love the non dramatic true adventure. I’m on the west coast of BC Canada and have thought about sailing in to some of the fiords during the winter and strapping the boards on. You’ve inspired me to make that a reality. Hi! I'm from Canada and you probably sailed past our island on your way...I just wanted to let you know a little tip for catching more shrimp. We call them " spot prawns", btw.. We found success by changing our pot. The best ones can be bought through a company called, " Harbour Chandler". The pot that you want is called the" Bauer". We went from catching a few per pull, to probably 50 or more per pull. We just use the pellets, in about 300 to 500 feet of water. We love your videos! Happy fishing! Kathy and John

Oh yes, you weren’t sure about how to pronounce “granite,” it’s gran-it, so you ignore the “e” on the end. THANK YOU!! Seeing Prince William Sound again after about 35 years- I worked on the Exxon Valdez clean up back in 1989- really brings back the memories. Do you see any evidence of the spill? I spent the best part of 6 months in Northwest Bay of Eleanor Island cleaning up oil, recovering dead wildlife, and even saving a few animals whenever possible. The natural "catchment" type bays (like Northwest Bay, Naked Island, and Herring Bay on Knight Island) were used to catch as much of the oil as possible. Boats pulling boom in a "V" shape brought the oil into these bays where the cleanup/recovery could be concentrated. I remember times when the oil was 2 feet thick on the surface of the water! Anyway, I'd love to see any evidence of the spill if you come across any. BTW, the shrimp (and all bottom feeders) were hit hard by the spill... that might be why your shrimp catch has been so light.

Hi, So you were making "Skagenröra" I think but what it is in Finland I have no Idea. It's very yummy. To garnish a traditional Skagenröra sandwich you would of course have the dill as you said, and a bit of roe, like salmon roe would be great, or some whitefish roe. Oh, and a thin slice of lemon too. For the non Scandinavians out there, it's an open face sandwich, just a piece of toast or butter fried toast just like he eats it. The shrimp mayo mix sandwich with the garnish, a "sup" of something very alcoholic and a beer chaser. That is a feast for most Scandies. Yours, Ann

It is quite often called skagen here or just katkarapumössö (shrimp mush). We also eat gubbröra here like you guys do. We don't eat surströmming though it originally was sold to Finns by Swedes who thought these people are crazy for buying this shit. Who's laughing now... :)
@annlidslot8212
@annlidslot8212 Жыл бұрын
@@jonnenne Hi, Thank you for your reply. Most of us don't eat that shit either. His shrimp looked so good though. I was salivating. I'm from Northern part of Sweden, where the Swedish origin of Surströmming comes from, but I probably couldn't swallow a piece to save my life... Or rather, I would only eat it to save my life. I believe that Gubbröra has been relegated to Julbord for Christmas and some ancient style smörgåsbord (ancient as in: like when I was a young). Personally I think especially Surströmming, and probably to some extent Gubbröra, was invented to give people an excuse to drink snaps. At least snaps seem be a recurring theme of eating these foods today. And I'm using the word "food" in the loosest sense of the word, at least when it comes to Surströmming. My sincere apologies for exporting the product from Sweden. I'm pretty sure it wasn't planed as biological warfare against Finland. Unless it was between 1808-1917 and you Finns weren't the target, of course 😉😊. Yours, Ann
