I recently applied for one of their Japanese-speaking associate positions! I'm sure as someone who grew up in the US you can relate but in your training in preparation for transferring to Shanghai office, did your training cover any business Chinese? As a Japanese person who grew up in the US I am definitely fluent but I feel that my professional speaking could be improved upon and I'm curious if any of this was included in your NYC training.

Tip to improve your professionalism: the unnecessary 'likes' in your speaking style (I counted over 50) will lead to you being disregarded in any boardroom meeting quicker that any content you present. If you want to learn how to eliminate them, count how many you use when speaking in recordings versus writing. If you need an example, listen at 3:46 - "...but (like) when I was working in their physical office, they would always have different (like) fun caterers come in - always really *liked?* celebrating the holidays - it's not LIKE a toxic culture. (fourth one is ok) It's hard at first but it's pretty important Ally - I've had multiple CxOs express to me how difficult it is for them to listen to this speaking style. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the awesome video! I recently got accepted to a Client service position in Tokyo 2022. But I'm kinda worried that my interests (international relations/politics) won't line up with the list of things you said I should be passionate about. I'm mostly joining them to earn enough money to get a master's in Public Policy.

@@fumafuma0323 oh yeah it seems like they really cast their net wide bc I still got the one-way interview and they posted another posting for this job on handshake... can I ask which interview stages were in Japanese? i'm a little worried because I'm japanese but grew up in the US so my business professional 敬語 is not as good as it could be but I'm of course fluent and always looking for an opportunity to force myself to improve... 😅

@@verslaflamme666 yea, it seems like they’re hiring a bunch of ppl (tbh low-key worried at how much they’re hiring because that might mean the turn overrate is super high but idk). For me, I took part in this one day internship thing, so I skipped the phone interview. But I had a phone interview for the internship, which was half Japanese half English so I think the normal phone interview would be like that as well (and it was only 15-30 min). Other than that, it was mostly English except for the case study interview, where you had a brief test call in Japanese to present one of your cases (but again it was probably less than 3 min or something, not that big a deal). And yea dw abt your language skill during the interview, because my Japanese also became a bit rusty, especially after college. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions or something!
@verslaflamme6663 жыл бұрын
@@fumafuma0323 thank you for sharing all this! yeah it seems v likely that the turnover rate is high... May I ask if you’re applying from japan or US or? It seems like they do the interview process differently based on if you’re applying from Japan or not so that’s why I was stressin about how much Japanese theyll test.
