No, I will NEVER EVER get over Vienna!!! The more time passes, the more bitter I get. I've been a swiftie since 2009, I have never seen Taylor in my life. I was already in Vienna and there were less than 24 hours until I saw my idol and then I hear the news that I won't be going to the tour of the decade. I'm so so grateful that I'm alive, I'm so happy that they caught the terrorists. This way I know I'll have more than one opportunity to see Taylor in the future, though! I love your take on this situation, thank you! I also was baffled by people's reaction to her silence. Of course I also wanted her to say something but it was completely understandable why she wasn't saying anything. I hope nothing like this happens again.

Taylor always said that the songs on folklore and evermore were inspired by real feelings. In an interview with Zane Lowe she said that "Tolerate it" was a feeling that she had felt. But she's obviously not the housewife polishing plates that is described in the song. The feelings being real does not make it not fictional. She is not a cowboy swindling men, "cowboy like me" IS fictional even though the feelings were something she felt.
@mrzimnafurane2 ай бұрын
I think this opinion is mostly by new swifties not understanding Taylors writing. Before, most details in her songs had happened. She really did dance in the kitchen in the refrigerator light. It was not made up. As she explained when folklore came out she felt free to explore true feelings without every detail being taken directly from her life.

my frustration with the way the ttpd era has been the total lack of content about ttpd outside of items to buy. like i feel like id still be firmly in my ttpd era if we got reflections on the writing process, maybe another mv, and not just new variants to shop.
@uzairhassan59982 ай бұрын
And that's exactly why I call it a cashgrab. Idk why swifties get so defensive and angry about it. The album was solely released to make a billionaire even more money. The entire release rollout was lazy as f and the sole purpose with all these variants and fake "exclusives" was to give her more cash. She's releasing the full 31 track album only now, after making people buy 4 variants (with false bonus track promises and supposedly limited time offers) plus all the other useless versions she released to block artists along the way. Meanwhile, no real promo or music videos for the era beyond things to buy for fans. If that ain't a cashgrab idk what is. She made TTPD to make as much money as possible while she's in her prime, that much is quite obvious.

I find that interesting, because I totally disagree. I‘m still listening to the songs on TTPD on a daily basis and I‘m still figuring new things out about it. I think 31 songs are so much content, that it kind of speaks for itself. 31 songs are a lot to process, and I‘m so happy that we got so much content. I do agree that the eras tour definitely overshadowed the album rollout and that because of the tour, TTPD is perceived as a short era, because she almost immediately went on stage again after the album came out. We didn‘t have much time to process, so I think that‘s why people think of it as short lived. As for content: yes, I would‘ve reallyyy enjoyed another music video for TTPD, but I can kinda get why there‘s just one and why there‘s so little content, because it almost feels too personal to produce a lot of content from it. The songs speak for themselves. And again, 31 songs in itself are a lot of content to process and to fester on. But idk, I‘m also a big fan of the album, so that‘s probably contributing to why I’m still „in the TTPD era“ and why I‘m still enjoying this album 🤷🏼♀️😅.

My unpopular opinion is focused on the fandom. As a whole we talk about Taylor giving back with donations & visiting fans. We talk about her being kind to everyone and going out of her way to make nice gifts or gestures for her fans and fellow entertainers. But there is so much hatred in the fandom. It seems to peak during tours or new releases but is always lurking just under the surface. Telling others they are fake fans or that they don't deserve tickets. Going after anyone that dares to speak badly or even imply they think badly of Taylor. Attacking her exs online or trashing news outlets that poorly review her music. Taylor has spoken about how hard the negativity is to deal with and there is a portion of her fan base that does nothing but spread negativity. I don't care if you know everything about Taylor and her life or if you only know the lyrics to a few songs. If you are a fan, you are a fan. Period. No levels, no earning the title, no proving your knowledge of lore or lyrics. Love for any part of Taylors art makes you a Swiftie.

27:25 notice how no one says that about an equally popular male artist, the Weeknd. “You’re dominating the charts, move over and make room for others 😡” That’s reserved for women, especially Taylor 🙄
@ashleydickie58592 ай бұрын
THIS. There’s still a very sexist expectation that female artists should feel ashamed of ambition and fairly share success with one another, as if there is a set amount of success allocated to women. It’s fine that artists want to be #1 and also fine to be disappointed when they aren’t. But no one is blocking or sabotaging anyone else, I’m pretty sure Taylor has no interest in making anybody #2, she only cares about being #1. Which is FINE and not something we should shame a female artist for aspiring to do!
@uzairhassan59982 ай бұрын
That's a dumb take. When that rapper guy was tryna block Sabrina by releasing multiple versions of his album no one supported him. The truth is no one is as desperate and lazy about charting than Taylor. Weekend had never produced variants with bs demos tour versions acoustic edits for weeks after an album's release. Taylor went overboard this time. Her releasing a new edition particularly in UK to block Charli there and dropping multiple versions before Billie's album day (despite her album already being weeks and months old) was pathetic. If any other artist pulled this stunt people would be annoyed (as you can tell by the example I gave). Stop trying to make everything a misogyny case like Taylor herself. 25:48 I actually have a lot of thoughts about All Too Well 5min vs 10min versions. In my brain they feel like 2 completely different songs, and I listen to them in different ways. The 10 minute version has the more complete story, both the good and the bad. It has anger and sadness, and includes references to reasons why the relationship should have ended (age comments, birthday, eating disorder references, etc). This makes it more representative of a complex relationship ending, and it feels like it should have. The short version, however, does not include any of the anger or reasons why the relationship should have ended. It is purely sadness and reminiscing and longing, and to me that makes it feel so much sadder and more emotionally powerful in some ways. I just come away from listening to the different versions with different feelings about what is trying to be conveyed in the songs, and I love them both for what they do, but in different ways. The original version will always hold a special place in my heart despite how much I love the 10min version.

I never see anyone talking about it, but I think Out Of The Woods (Taylor's Version) is SOOOOO much better than the original!!! The original was really good, but Taylor's Version just feels so much more grand and epic, and her vocals are just so much more powerful and stronger, and the production too. I think it's because technology with producing songs has improved so much over the years and I really think that Jack really took advantage of that and let his magic run wild! I also think the same about the Red (the song) and I Know Places, that the Taylor's Version of those 2 songs are so much better.

As a French, if there's anything I learned about concert and threats, is that the threat should always be consider. I vividly remember what happened at the Bataclan, november 13, in 2015. It was DEVASTATING. And the Bataclan is not as big as any venue of the Eras Tour. 130 people died. More than 500 people were hurt, and some seriously. I was in high school at the time, and I remember a French teacher that was always on her phone, looking for some news because her son was hurt the night before. It wasn't in a way that would endangered his life, but he was hurt. The whole week my teacher wasn't in a good state of mind, but she still tried to do her best while teaching us, because she knew that her son would be okay. But if anything had happened to him, I can't imagine how she would have been. So while I understand that the people who should have attended the tour in Vienna arr sad that's it was cancelled, it was for the best. No country ever want to see something devastating. And because of what happened nine years ago in France, the organizers are even more careful with that. Any menace, any threat, should be taken seriously, and the life of thousands of people are more important than a few shows. And as you said, it's not Taylor's job to talk about it, the police is still investigating, they always have to be careful so that something won't happen. Yes it's sad that ot was cancelled, but she communicated on it, we know why it was cancelled, and it was a good reason. A life is more important than a concert.

Vienna Swiftie here: I find this topic is so hard to really have one opinion or one way to feel about on. I was lucky enough to get last minute tickets to London, so I saw the Eras Tour. But initially I had tickets to all 3 nights in Vienna and those would’ve been my only shows. And that was taken from me and hundreds of other people. No one has to “get over” it. Something that we were looking forward to for over a year, that we were putting effort into with costumes and bracelets and whatnot, was taken from us. No one is saying the shows should’ve happened. Everyone agrees the right decision was to cancel the shows, because lives were at risk. We are all grateful that no one was hurt or worse. But that doesn’t take away the anger and sadness a lot of us feel because this was taken away. Not to mention the fear. To realise the gravity and severity of what could have happened is terrifying and traumatic. So to tell someone to get over that is basically telling someone to get over their trauma, because it’s already been a month or two. As for Taylor, I won’t lie, I am disappointed that Vienna Swifties got nothing. That we were more or less forgotten. The way we came together and what Vienna put together after the cancellation was incredible and I don’t think people are wrong in feeling like they deserve to be acknowledged or deserved for their pain to be acknowledged. I’m still a swiftie, but yeah, it hurt to feel like the Vienna shows were scrubbed from history. And I fully understand that Taylor might’ve been scared or traumatized, too, but so were we. And in the end I still have hope that Vienna Swifties will get some sort of mention in some way at some point.
@Tika-D-S2 ай бұрын
@@norakaulhoelgaard5762 “And what hurts even more is that at the London show everything turned out to be fine.” This line has caused me to comment for the first time. If your picture is representative of you, you appear quite young, so I will try to speak gently. You are saying it hurts you more because others did not suffer at a subsequent show. What would have made you hurt less? Would bodily injury have sufficed, or would loss of life have had to occur for you to feel happy? Would the cancellation of the remaining tour dates have caused you joy, to know others suffered as you did? Ally empathetically and eloquently stated, as she always does, the truth of Vienna Swifties needing the time and space to move through the grieving process at their own pace. What was being addressed was the unjust backlash against Taylor. Instead of the ire directed to the criminals, as it should be, it was turned on Taylor. Why was she not given the grace and benefit of the doubt to do what was best for her fans and employees? The general public was not privy to the information the government agencies were sharing with her and her team, so as fans of a woman who has time and again shown her good character, we should allow her the time she needed to secure the safety of everyone involved. But with your statement, you have taken your anger further to wish harm on others in order for you to feel your suffering was worth it. Have you thought this through enough to realize “everything turned out fine” precisely because Taylor was silent and worked hard to ensure the shows in London were fine? Have you thought through how wishing misery on others does not eliminate or alleviate yours?

@@Tika-D-S wow I don't even know what to say, you completely misinterpreted my sentence. And I am sorry but why would you even say something like this on the internet... What I meant with that sentence, is that it didn't feel real what exactly had happened with the show being cancelled until. It hit me only really when the London shows were happening and I was seeing everywhere again videos. In that moment I realised that this safe space was taken away from me. I'm glad that the LDN shows went well, and I know people who got the chance to go. I NEVER, absolutely NEVER said anything about wishing any people harm. I am sorry but it is absolutely mindblowing for you to even assume that. I am so so glad that the young men were caught in time. Because I can't even imagine the amount of damage it would have caused to so many people and families (inlcuding my own). My best friend was supposed to be outside of the stadium one night, which was one the attackers aim. I know it was the right decision to be made, but I can still feel somewhat sad and angry that I didn't get the chance to experience it. I don't see a problem with that

Thank you for taking up the difficult subject of Vienna. I should also have seen one of the shows in Vienna. And this event has left a lasting scar. I haven't been so deeply affected and disappointed for a long time. I couldn't leave the house for 5 days. The first day I just cried and got drunk from 6am. From the second day onwards, I was in a state of shock and apathy. Sure, the decision to cancel the concerts made sense. But the worst thing for me was that Taylor was there for me in so many difficult situations with her music. And now something so bad is happening to me and it's directly related to her. And I felt ignored. And that really hurt. I am not familiar with the measures that have to be taken in the event of such a threatening act, but I have also heard from lawyers and PR people that the situation could have been handled differently. In conclusion, I would like to say that I have the deepest sympathy for all Vienna Swifties and would like everyone else to have the same understanding. For not giving her room to live and breathe and be human and make her own decisions and mistakes. And making it impossible to have a lasting love with a partner, which is the defining goal of her adult life.

Agreed! She makes it very clear in TTPD that we are not her friends and our advice and opinions mean absolutely nothing to her. We are lucky that she CHOOSES to share so much of her inner life with us, but we need to remember that even though we have every lyric she's ever released memorized, we don't know her.

if parents want a kid friendly concert go see The WIggles (loved those guys when i was little The OG wiggles not the newer ones) or a childrens music concert that are made for children. Plus it's a pop concert what did they expect.

girl at home hate to me has the same energy as stay stay stay and speak now (song) hate: people don't like having fun (couldn't be me)
@nikaguemoes9006Ай бұрын
Cardigan (next to enchanted) is my favourite song, I love the piano, the production overall, her vocals, the lyrics, how the song shifts and doesn’t completely stay the same but the core is still there, I have so many memories with that song, I love it so much and I hate that every time I say that there will be people who look at me and go “fake fan” which is bs, because 1. I’ve been a fan since I was six years old, play the beginning of any song and I’ll guess it in 1 second 2. That doesn’t and shouldn’t matter, because that’s not what makes you a fan, there are two things that make you a fan, liking the music to any degree and (most importantly) respecting the artist and their privacy, which some self proclaimed super fans don’t even do, I am so sick of fandom and having interests has turned into this competition of who knows the most, and the idea that liking an artists most popular songs is a bad thing THEY ARE POPULAR FOR A REASON, I didn’t think this would get this long ups

Ok just started the sabrina thing is wild i just did a literal 14 yr olds makeup and her mom got her a special outfit for the show. I asked what her fav song was and she said TASTE i looked at her mom with such shock
@elsie64642 ай бұрын
im all for being open with teens (obvs in moderation + depending on age n stuff) about sex and giving them proper education but taking them to a show where sabrina is constantly talking about being railed isnt quite ideal for a 14 yr old 😭😭😭

The things Taylor gets criticized for just blows my mind sometimes. Like how are people gonna be hating on her for doing her job and releasing music and wanting to do well in her position, I just don’t get it 😭 Part of me thinks that these people are just projecting cause they wouldn’t be saying any of this if their favorite artists were in her position
@Chinni_C8882 ай бұрын
Every time I hear someone argue that Taylor needs to step aside so others can succeed, I can't help but think that person has never succeeded at anything and is very envious of those who did, but instead of working harder, they expect others to step aside for their benefit. That's the funny thing about hate comments: it's just people telling on themselves.

I Know Places (TV) is way WAAAAAYYYY better than the OG. Hands down my favourite of all the new versions!!
@NoraEStephens2 ай бұрын
also for the song that i think is the most glammed up taylor’s version is either speak now or you are in love. speak now is a great song, but i think that the improved vocals definitely made me listen to the song more, and definitely give it the recognition it deserves. then you are in love is a great song and when 1989 taylors version was released, i got to remember the song and love it even more!
@Tw1nr0va2 ай бұрын
Thank you for calling out the variant thing and Taylor needs to "let" someone have the spotlight. No, she doesn't. She works hard, she has a huge fanbase, and the fanbase supports her, and so she is incredibly successful. Billie had TONS of variants, TONS. And look at the physical sales moved with Billie's latest album versus physical sales moved with TTPD. It's not even close. There's even an interview with Finneas and Billie and Finneas says "you don't need to buy the album again." And then Billie's like "Oh don't say that! Don't say that!" And he kind of ignores her. I love Billie's music, but she cares about charts just like everyone else does. And it's okay to care about charts. Nobody here is a villain lol.
@rays_choice2 ай бұрын
Yes. Billie herself has stopped saying the cringey one-liners and now has been replaced by her brother. I love some songs on hit me hard and soft considering Billie isn't my cup of tea. But everytime finneas and Billie give interviews they give "am not like other girls energy" and then deny that their comments weren't shady about the other artists
@Tw1nr0va2 ай бұрын
@@rays_choice that’s my main issue. the energy they give is that they don’t care but they clearly do. And like it’s okay to care about wanting to chart albums and do super well. But They excel when they talk about the breakdown of how they make their music and not when they are given the opportunity to just run their mouths lol

Ally, I love your videos! I would love to watch retroactive "everything you need to know before" videos for Fearless TV and Red TV. Those videos are so informative and give me new levels of appreciation for the music and Tayor as a person when you did them for Speak Now TV and 1989 TV. Thank you for all you do!

I know Taylor’s re recording process are good and most of them slap especially on fearless tv but one unpopular opinion I have is that I will not always supporting Taylor’s Version of a song and going back to the original like Red the title track is superior in tv and that’s what made it my number 1 TS song but I can’t say the same for a song like Back To December tv or girl at home tv 🫶❤️
