Obviously there’s no way to fix generational, centuries long advantage (reparations don’t really make sense unless you fix the core issues) but we shouldn’t deny what actually happened, what is still happening, and what thankfully isn’t happening anymore … People forget, but not even 100 years ago we barely passed equal rights act for WOMEN! So of course these issues are ONLY for minorities. But also for women, LGBTQ, religious people, and poor people no matter what gender race or ethnicity. 100 years is a long time for us since that is our entire life, but in the grand scheme of things isn’t that long of a time at all, especially not enough time to recover 100s of years of advantages and disadvantages. 100 years ago we were still segregating people with no remorse or trying to hide it, even making laws about it. Finally 1964 civil rights act was passed but even then, the rich still segregated minorities and the poor by literally designing the streets, highways, and cities to PHYSICALLY segregate people… pushing them into crowded dirty unwanted areas while they were able to get the most profitable land and resources. Then let’s not forget the drug war which was used against minorities and had peoples life’s ruined and locked up for years just for a simple cannabis plant…. Let’s not forget MKULTRA which wasn’t even limited to minorities or the poor. But all Americans were subjected to this …. Them flooding minorities areas with crack and literally forcing and creating a cycle for years to come …. It hasn’t even been 100 years since we LEGALLY are now considered equal including men women and minorities…. So for Sharp to just keep saying oh yeah no its 50/50 …… no. You couldn’t even physically calculate the exact percentage of how much we are affected by it. What is really quite honestly ridiculous is acting as if 100 years of legal freedom is comparable to the hundreds of years of advantage. And just because the laws changed , doesn’t mean their generational wealth is changed…. It doesn’t take away all the property they were able to get, all the businesses they are able to pass down, and incalculable advantages through every way shape or form…. Yeah, now we all have access to the internet so it’s up to us to find the correct information and stop the cycle of no-Knowledge and poverty. It DOES start with us. But that in no way shape or form scrubs or levels the playing field. Yes we might see the flowers of our work 100 years from now our kids ands grandkids will be better off because of our choices . It starts with us. But don’t deny the reality of what is. We can argue about how much it affects x or y but you can’t deny cold hard facts and history. If so then they are not interested in genuine discussion or changing their opinion on anything. If we can’t agree on a base reality then we are just arguing fairy tails and perspective. Empathy is needed but not a trait that benefits us $$$ wise currently. But you can choose to not care about other people or try to fit in their perspective , or you can choose to have an open mind and try to see where they’re coming from . Or you can just not give a fuck about everyone and get yours. But if you choose this path don’t be hypocritical and act like you’re “positive” or a good guy…. You’re simply just conforming to societies standards and the capitalist culture of isolationistic separation. I wanted to agree with sharp because I do preach accountability so I got his side of what he’s trying to say but then again I know for a fact almighty is not just making some excuses for why the odds will always be against us no matter how hard we work to get on top just certain opportunities are not in our favor simple because of who we are and we’re we come from and if even if they’re are unlimited opportunity’s out there for us why we got to work 10x harder to play catch up as opposed to other races??? That’s because the system was never meant to be in our favor in the first place which is also why we can get gun down by the police and we never get justice it’s all tied into together
