I think they also need to make it so that MPs also have had to work in a real job and preferably had to work in them for at least 10 years, none of this going to school until they are 30 , then becoming an activist or part of the student union then going straight into politics . I am sick to death of being told what to do and how to live by a bunch of brainwashed bone -idle narcissists who think they are the special-chosen ones, who will lead the plebs to the promised land because their every thought and opinion is better than everyone else's .

MP as a career ladder to climb should be abolished aswell, parties should be abolished to prevent childlike slandering of each others views just to keep power or popularity, when you turn the running of a country into a career ladder to climb you no longer compete against others in the opposing party....you begin to compete against those within your own party who you claim to have the sake ideals with, when such people are injected into the very core of a government the mediocre men & women can infect it, the intelligent & naturally gifted leaders in touch with society will be put off by this & will choose not to participate due to being surrounded with mediocrity.

Only people with at least three grandparents born here should be MPs. They should have at least seven years prior residency in the constituency and be at least 30 years old. There should be a maximum of 500 of them ,paid £150,000 each, but no expenses. If they need staff, their party should pay for it. Basic accommodation should be provided when in London, akin to student halls of residence.

Three grandparents?? That would leave many areas without any candidates. Everyone moves around all the time. I don't like that, but it's how it is.

Your wage for them is way too high. You also forgot to mention term limits. Career politicians are a massive problem, regardless of which side of the aisle they belong to.

I would make it a condition for standing as an MP that they were born in the area or had lived there for at least ten years. Perhaps also ban anyone who already has a family member as an MP. Possibly limit how many years someone could be an MP.

Whilst I do agree with you, we only need to see in history up to the current day how it really works. Any politician showing promise, or currying favour, gets put in a safe seat constituency. So, they never get voted out.

@@johnkitching2248 Far too many candidates are " parachuted in" because they have worked in party HQs. MPs should represent the whole country. The present system clearly isn't working.

They should be local! Imagine having Boris Johnson as your MP who is not from the local area, is never to be seen and could simply not give a damn!

thats the difference between the left and the right. The right dont want to see their local MP all the time dont feel the need to whine and moan to them and want as little involvement from the government as they can get , the left want mollycoddling , they need constant government interventions and help , so your statement is true and good for half the people and not the other half

@@nickedwards2904 Then what exactly is the point of having a local MP? If that is your take on it then clearly they are a complete waste of time and money. What are we paying them for if not for dealing with concerns and or needs of their constituents?

Another way of shutting people down. The cabinet minister’s should have in-depth knowledge of the departments they are charged with. But it’s ‘normal’ to give them the title for two or three. When the people vote in an MP for their area’s, that’s it. Don’t take them onto the front bench. Maybe people who have the in-depth knowledge of differing departments ca
