Eat rice... like the locals.. it's filling. Locals eat rice-based food for breakfast lunch dinner anytime. Packed nasi lemak is also a cheap option as it is around rm2 or rm3 only. Or fried rice, nasi campur or mixed rice - white rice with chicken and veggies. They are usually around rm6 upward .. Rm is ringgit Malaysia. Kuala lumpur is the capital and prices are bit higher in the touristy spots.you moved further away and prices are usually lower. Bring a water bottle and refill it at any of the water dispensing machine at 20 sen only. No need to buy drinks. Our tap water is also clean and treated at the treatment plants and safe for drinking. We malaysians are grateful for the visionary leaders like our former prime minister tun dr mahathir mohamad who envisioned and chartered the growth of our nation. From producing our own national cars proton and perodua, to building a vast network of roads and highways linking the country. It was his idea to build the petronas twin towers and relocating the administrative side to putrajaya. Putrajaya was built on a former palm oil plantations.

The Malaysian development model under Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is very interesting. You are lucky to have had a such good visionary leader. In the mid 1980s, I had a good friend from Malaysia, she was studying at the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, USA. I met her husband when he came to visit her.
