My father caught a seagull a few years back fishing from a dock. But one time when we were out on our boat, we saw a blitz that was up against the shore. I'm from Jersey and we were fishing the Raritan Bay right off the north west side of Sandy Hook. The blitz had hundreds of birds working the water and the surface looked like a Jacuzzi that wouldn't stop bubbling. The whole blitz was about 3/4 of a mile along the coast and about 1/4 out from the shore. It was blue fish, stripers and even some mahi mahi. I threw out my brand new $30 lure(like an idiot because the blues would just destroy it) and I hooked into a nice 7 pound blue. After I let it go, I threw my line out again and as the line dropped down to the water a seagull flew right under the line and got completely wrapped up. I then had a blue take the lure. So the poor bird was getting tugged by the blue and by me. I was able to get the bird to the boat, cut the lure side of the line and then bring the bird on the boat to free him. He was pissed but ultimately he flew off safe and sound.

+BlacktipH very cool vid!! Ive got a question for you Josh, so Ive been shark fishing off the beach for a little over two years now, I had two senators 9/0s and two 14/0s. I just sold one of each and I was wondering if an avet ex 30 is good enough (regarding LC and drag #s) for medium drops off the beach for blacktips, and other sharks up to 8 ft? Or should i go with the exw 30, an ex 30 is only $386 on tackle direct, so thats a hell of a deal. would really appreciate your response, thank you!
@sodeloutdoors80478 жыл бұрын
Christian Matson you should be fine with the ex30 if you fill it with braid
@BlacktipH8 жыл бұрын
The EX30 will be great. Spool it with 2/3 of 100lb braid backing and 1/3 of 130lb mono topshot.

@robertlabbate65188 жыл бұрын
Anthony Platt think about how heavy sharks are and then think about what you just asked
@anthonyplatt64888 жыл бұрын
Robert L'Abbate u can 130 lb sharks on 65 lb line so if ur trying to be a smart ass its not working because thats like saying "oh wow i caught a 300lb bull shark so that means i need 300lb line?" no it doesn't so you need to think about what u just said
@taylorenderle39058 жыл бұрын
Robert L'Abbate anthony is right. just because they fish is lets say 100lbs doesn't mean u need 100lb line. u choose the strength of ur line based upon how hard u think the fish ur going to catch will fight. a 100lb blacktip pulls (at its hardest) about 55lbs~70lbs
@anthonyplatt64888 жыл бұрын
