Exploring and metal detecting the old sites in the mountains of NH where people lived hundreds of years ago. Today we took a big hike and did some exploring in an area that has several deserted colonial farms. We followed rock walls, climbed a mountain that has a wagon trail going almost straight up and did some detecting at a cellar hole. there is so much history in Ne England and artifacts are in the ground but today we really wanted to look around further than before. The landscape is brutal and yet the stack rocks in massive long rock walls that go on for miles. you can read the land and see the small patches of ground that they worked to improve. We ended the day at a spot that has a cellar and at some point in the early 1900s a cabin was. That turned up a couple coins.
