The Cross mentioned is the Knight's Cross or Iron Cross, and its like the Victoria Cross for the Brits the highest medal of honor of their military and he says goodbye to it by not shooting down the bomber. Btw respect for not overreacting like some ytbers lol 🤙

Oh I see that’s powerful. He knew what was right and he thought like a human in that moment and not just purely like a soldier. I’m glad they both were able to meet each other in the end. Fun Fact about the B-17 "Flying Fortress": This bird was able to take a serious beating and manage to continue flying. There are MANY documented incidents where B-17s were seen coming into their home base on "A wing and a prayer," where there was at least one wing with a fully functional engine and a dead or damaged engine (sometimes that was ALL that was keeping the plane airborne) and looking like they'd been ripped apart, missing parts of the wings and even their entire tail segment. Franz Stigler's actions in saving Ye Olde Pub, a plane that lost two engines, had a blown engine on its last legs and one fully functional engine, with damage to the nose and central area of the plane with her crew freezing to the bone, is an honor higher than the Distinguished Flying Cross, which is what Franz would have earned if he'd shot down Ye Olde Pub. He earned the better honor, he earned a form of immortality which will be sung for years to come, a place in history.

Hey Kai! Typically I don't comment on videos too often but I love this song and seeing the different reactions and perspectives of how people interpret this event in history and I have to say despite being a 'small' channel your reaction and commentary was amazing and I hope you cover more Sabaton songs in the future. A small tip for you or some words of advice, to stop the ads and pop ups you can use a browser extension such as adblocker or if you have the funds available grab a subscription to KZbin Premium. I know most people bash YT premium because it's not that useful but for blocking ads for reactions/content it is really worth the investment! Great content and I hope to see more in the future. A potential series of reactions for you would be the League Of Legends World Championship songs/openings or any music Riot Games has produced in the last 10 years.

Stigler was quoted many times as saying that his old squadron leader had told them: "If I see or hear of any of you shooting at a man parachuting, I will kill you myself." As a pilot parachuting from a plane is defenceless and attacking them would be the act of a coward. Stigler saw Ye Olde Pub as being essentially a giant metal parachute, carrying defenceless men away from battle, so he chose to help them get out rather than shoot them down.

For me as a German, im so thankfull for People like Franz Stigler and Charlie Brown, because our Goverment will Teach us Germans that every German in the Years betweet 1930 and 1945 was a Nazi. Im thankfull that German Soldiers like Franz Stigler who sayd to his fellow Pilots in his Squadron, "If i see someone of you shooting an Enemy Pilot on a Parachute, unable to fight back, killing them, i swear you i will shot you down!" , show the Enemy that not all People in Germany are or were Bastards and only have to fight for the wrong Side.

Hey thank you for this comment. I’m not sure to take this as a positive feedback or not but as I keep on growing and as KaiberKrew keeps on growing the channel is naturally going to bring more subscribers (I hope so 🤞🏾after 5k) optimistic is the best way to be. Energy is this channel and energy is what I want to give out to bring people to this channel (all sorts of people) there are challenges but that’s natural my goal is to be the best I can be and just be me, social media is wide so who knows what can happen. If I don’t think big then why try. I get the cons but I’m all about the pros. It’s possible 😁
